  1. What are they, a bunch of pansies?
  2. Keeping the opponent completely off the board and playing good all-around fundamental baseball pretty much matches right up with what I envisioned going in.
  3. I can't explain it, but I have the strongest sense that we are going to win this game tonight. Call it a gut feeling or whatever, I just feel a great all-around game coming from the Crew tonight.
  4. With the Cards acquisitions, the Cubs and Astros heating up, and the Brewers falling flat this one has the feel of a season-ender. I almost wish the team felt it had the fan equity to be sellers. Though aside from Prince, Braun, and Yo (the current untouchables) I doubt they even have much that would generate interest from other teams. What a wasted year this has become.
  5. Possible big inning here. Need it badly. Don't want to drop to .500.
  6. Amazing that the initial reactions to Melvin's comments were an atta boy Doug and Braun should keep his mouth shut. Melvin just dumped a barrel of gasoline and threw another match on this thing for good measure. At least Braun has the defense of being asked a question in a postgame environment after a rough series to a rival. What's Doug's excuse?
  7. Yeah, I could be mistaken but it seems the Cubs have gone out of there way to ensure Lilliy avoids throwing in series against Milwaukee. Hopefully the Crew can give them good reason to do so in the future.
  8. I'm bummed out by this news. All the guy did for us was put his own personal health on the line and pitch every 4th day for us and carry the team on his back for the Brewers first playoff appearance in 26 years. I root for him every start while still hoping the Yankees crash and burn around him. Sure he has the money now no matter what, but it's clear by the effort he put forth with us, that he's a competitor. And if he gets injured for an extended period of time in that market, the fans and the media there will be relentless. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy much less someone whom I'll always remember as a baseball hero in this city. Not to mention the ire that will get directed at Milwaukee by New Yorkers for last year having "abused" their future property. And don't be surprised if the 4-letter network piles on and sends a few jabs this way. They'll completely ignore the significance of what he did for Milwaukee and rather focus on how Milwaukee did this to him and deprived all of baseball a healthy CC in NY. It will be vomit-inducing.
  9. Don't underestimate how much the Brewers value his work with the pitching staff. And they're right, btw.
  10. Yep, that's Ron Wolf. I dropped in to see if anyone else noticed. I did not take note of who he was sitting with however.
  11. I recall reading a quote from Sveum recently saying as much. His point was that he's trying to get these guys to figure it out before it's too late and their career is over as was the case with him.
  12. Is ESPN trying to set the record for replays of a HR in a single game? Seriously what's the over / under on how many times they replay the Mauer homer tonight? 20? 30? 50 times???
  13. Somebody didn't read the question.
  14. All I'll say is this... If this question were asked to fans in all the other 28 MLB markets, I'd be pretty confident that all 28 would give the same answer.
  15. This second guessing is bullcrap. We can't keep second guessing each an every move. Take last night for instance. He pulled Bush after only 80 some pitches. Now what would have been the Yost move? Leave him in until he implodes, right? The bottom line is sometimes the best move is the move you don't make, sometimes it's pulling the trigger before disaster. We can't predict the future. All we can do is look at the record. If we look at the record and say to ourselves that we can't imagine being much better than the record stands, then the manager must be doing allright. We're 25-15 folks! So who thinks we should be 28-12? What's that, no one? That's what I thought. As soon as I saw the Journal article I knew this thread was coming. Very disappointing that this inevitable topic couldn't be spared from BFan.net.
  16. It might be an odd time to point it out, but did anyone else catch Prince in his trot there and get the impression he's put some weight back on since the season started? Or is it just me?
  17. I mean..."this is why Macha is beyond frustrating". Beyond frustrating? Really?
  18. I figured the constant questioning of Yost was due to the number of years we had to grow tired of his act. Heck, I was one of the most outspoken against him. Apparently though manager second guessing is topic #1 in this forum.
  19. The part of the Rays lineup fiasco I found so startling was the distaste Rays fans have for Maddon. I was looking for info regarding Longoria's late scratch so finally I went to the Rays official site and their message board. There was a thread on today's original lineup and they were ripping Maddon before the snafu was even discovered. Calling him "Clueless Joe" among other things. Then when the error on the lineup card was realized they really let him have it. Link to thread ----> http://www.forums.mlb.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?tsn=1&nav=messages&webtag=ml-rays&tid=28166
  20. The Crew has played 1 game and been outscored 2-1 since they landed in St. Louis and they're 1-0. Awesome.
  21. The picture with HY and Coghlan is a posed shot. He was being a ham.
