  1. 2019-2022 it seemed we could develop pitchers particularly relievers, seems like the well is drying up outside of the top 3 pitching prospects. ‘A few look ok, but most have struggled to be consistent all year long (that’s the brewers MO from big league to low minors it seems). and the big league team could use some pitchers. Burnes, Woodruff, Peralta and Williams can’t do it all. let’s see if some pitchers here can move up and become valuable big leaguers.
  2. Not criticizing CC as much as stating that the September magic was really 2017 when there was no expectations and the young team did well, 2018 with a great team roster that got hot at the right time, and 2019 when Yelich willed the team and the rest of them went on a roll after he got hurt. That was also with more expanded rosters when mixing and matching was easier to do. Counsell has done well, but I don’t think there is a September run, and it has been several years since there was one. Sadly this roster is all pitching and many pitchers haven’t met or exceeded expectations save a hot month or two (outside of Devin, and Wiley has been as expected or better since he has logged more IP than expected).
  3. Craigtember last really occurred in 2019. since then they haven’t really starred in September. ‘And without the real talent, it’s hard to manage to wins. Somehow CC has done well with less than stellar talent. Hopeful the prospects that come up can change that. Now who will manage next season if CC bolts.
  4. Wow. Wasn’t he a higher bonus pool international signing a few years ago? I looked it up and he was. $1.3 M in 2019. Reading this article, that 2019 class was not great. https://www.mlb.com/news/brewers-sign-prospect-luis-medina
  5. Did not feel good coming into this Series. It seems like this is a place the Brewers play so poorly. It was a house of horrors in 2017/2018, and sure we played very well here in 2021, but no matter how bad the Pirates are, the Brewers play poorly overall in Pittsburgh. Ugh.
  6. If Wagoner and Woessner could trade halves we have one heckuva SP. It will be interesting to see how they fare next season.
  7. I was a frequent flier 10+ years ago but strayed away. I love the work here on the minor league forum and also in the daily wrap ups. Amazing. With the current prospects being as exciting as 2002-2008. Time will tell if as fruitful but still fun to read about and watch. Awesome job to all who do the had work so we get to enjoy! Much thanks
  8. Nice game by mudcats. Top of the order (orae, arenaimo, hall, adams) with a solid game. Y. Rodriguez made it interesting with 2 walks. But closes the door.
  9. At this point he has to be in the discussion for a call up or for roster consideration next year as an IF/UT, right?
  10. Anyone see Lauer game? Does he look better than earlier this year? I can’t remember what his fastball was in early season.

  12. This thread makes me sad about the a couple of the worst trades of the past few years Bush for Kelly. No return at all, and could you image Uribe-Kelly-Williams in the pen next year ;( And the Daniel Norris for Reese Olson trade. Hated the trade then, hate it more now. We haven't seen too many traded players actually do much (Haniger and Garrett Cooper years ago were a few exceptions), so I guess it's OK to lose a few. Plus - Topa doing well in Seattle. High risk, but this season high reward.
  13. Thank you. I guess I always assumed a HS player good enough to be drafted - was drafted or went to college - and most who didn't go in the draft assumed they had to go to JuCo/College to build up draft stock. Is this rare? Or rare for the Brewers - as I don't recall seeing that before. Most UDFA are JuCo or college seniors.
  14. How was Reece Walling acquired. A high school UDFA? how does that happen?
  15. Anyone know why Martinez was removed from the game in biloxi?
  16. It would likely be Ashby if healthy and ready to pitch. Otherwise I see Lauer since he’s been a big leaguer. Wouldn’t Misiorowski burn eligibility years or take a 40 man spot? He’s 1-2 years from being mlb ready. Tempting to bring that heat, but probably not this September.
  17. Do the September call ups have to be in the 40 man roster? that will impact right? and historically (even when rosters could be bigger) CC chose prospects for a cup of coffee to see the bugs, or guys with one great tool (speed as a PR; defensive sub; or a RH or LH option for late inning PHing).
  18. Wood -true, but he has moved up. Sibrian has repeated low A and is older (24) than Wood. I would love one of them to be the other catching prospect in the system.
  19. And the offense went from very very bad to just very bad at the time our pitching started to show cracks. Still in first place but this is not the formula for success.
  20. Garret Mitchell return could help very sss but when he was in the line up last year and first few weeks of this season, the offense seemed better (although Brian Anderson was hitting lights out then). but Frelick, Wiemer, Mitchell, Yelich and Taylor can create competition to force the best 3-4 of those 5 into the lineup daily. Obviously that assumes it’s just a talent or competition issue. If coaching, development or strategy is the core isssue then the players alone won’t solve it without signing a big FA or 2.
  21. So it begs the question. Is this team sorely lacking hitting talent only, or is the average talent not being coached or utilized the best? shouldn’t there be some improvement to a mean or some improvement in players. Other than Yelich, most have regressed severely in the past few years (Adames, Urias, Narvaez) and players with upside or bounce back potential never really materialized. is it the hitting coaches? Some hitting strategy? or is this a team full of truly replacement level hitters only (except for June-July Yelich, and May-July Contreras)?
  22. Does anyone have an updated scouting report on Henderson? I know his change is his best pitch. Fastball? Other offspeed? ceiling of a #4/5 starter, but clearly has a future as mid to late reliever I would think?
  23. If Baez was in the ACL line up that would be six hitters with OPS of .925 or higher (O’Rae, Boeve, Bitonti, Pratt, Baez, Norman). Sure very SSS for the 2023 draftees, but encouraging to see offensive production in a very high offense league.
  24. Awesome updates. Good to see some possible developments in the hitters. Great insight into some of those names I overlook in Carolina, Arizona and DSL. Thanks to the BF.net team for these great write ups.
