  1. 7-2 Shuckers now trail. I mean this month has been so difficult to watch for the affiliates. Not a lot of offense, pitching has been actually pretty good, but bullpens have been so unpredictable and the defense and mental game has been off at times (also doesn't help having so many young players and some playing out of their natural positions) Still. Cruel Summer indeed
  2. Shuckers are falling behind again. Cooper Pratt with a 2-run double. His August has been really really good. He is an even month player (April, June and August were all great; but his May and July splits were brutal). Alcantara loads the bases, then HBP and now a walk. Still only 1 out, and bases still loaded. 🙄
  3. Well the sounds won. 10-0. Nice outing by Patrick and Tyler Black - is this a blip or the beginning of him bringing relevant again? Ask me in a few weeks. Shuckers spoiled some timely hits by Burke, and a nice start by DeBerry - but his pitch count limited his impact on De Game ultimately. And Dubanewicz (who along with DeBerry and Dorchies as 2024 draft picks are looking promising) had great start also foiled not by a bullpen (Renz another ‘24 pitcher) but an anemic offense. And I’m not sure what is going with the T-Rats. Fischer is hitting decently enough, and Made seems to have transitioned well. Dinges is there and getting some big hits. But not enough good pitching ( I mean other than Birchards no-hit 7 innings the other night), not enough hitting, and man that outfield has Tayden Hall, Luiyin Alastre, Daniel Guilarte and now Josh Adamczewski playing (along side true OF Nicasia). Anyhoo. Some good stuff tonight. Not enough wins. And the Mudcats playoff hopes are just fading daily. See you tomorrow.
  4. Ok Nashville cruising for now. Patrick 5 shutout innings. Shuckers lost the first game as noted earlier. Up 1–0 mid-way through game 2. I’ll check in later.
  5. Hey I go to check the other scores and I missed another Blake Burke HR!! Wow he is staying hot in AA.
  6. Crazy play in Wisconsin as River Bandit hitter flies out to right center and Alastre has it …. Go off his glove 😳 But Nicasia gets to it and throws to Made who rifles to Peña and they get the force at second. Yup - you’re standard.9-8-6-4 force out. Just like they drew it up wild play. And Cruz gets the next batter to end the inning. T-Rats still down 5-2 I will watch the next half inning but may call it a night.
  7. And that is how the season goes. 2-out walks by Lameda and Holguin, the Walther RBI single. But Payne Ks.
  8. Well TRats give up a run right back. 😔 After Dinges cut the lead in half, now it’s 5-2 after a HBP, SB, single. And Carolina wasting a very solid effort by Dubanewicz and Renz. 3 R, only 1 ER, and 10 K to no walks! The pitching overall (starters at least) have been solid for Carolina. Offense and bullpen are the reason they are not able to take control of the playoff position. Down 3-1 with 2 outs in the 9th.
  9. Dinges - big fly to RF. 2-run Dinges Dinger!
  10. That Mudcat offense is well …. Offensive😉 Seriously though tough sledding. I really am starting to have doubts about Bitonti, who is 0-3 with 3 K tonight. Payne has been battling something parts of the year so hard to know with him. And DiTuri - bank on a good first half, but expect he will disappear in the second half. Rest of the team is new to Carolina (no playing time there last year, and not on opening day roster except may Rodriguez and/or Lameda?)
  11. Great catch @Sugarrayray. My eyes just read it as “cavalry” but don’t worry the cavalry is here to help up avoid ending up at the Calvary. Solid night of pitching by Gasser (again have to give a mulligan for rehab starts as we don’t know if he was told to pitch certain pitches to make sure he can do what is needed) but a sight for sore eyes as Carlos F - whose stat line looked more reminiscent of his April version. If he can get some solid appearances this September it will help Nashville this year and the big club possibly next year. Mudcats - do I give them credit for being so young and holding on? Or critique them for not having the offensive consistency? It’s tough to know. I didn’t see last night’s game, but the past couple of weeks there have been so many at bats where the hitters appear overmatched or just chasing pitches and nit lining up the mistakes. Mr DelChiaro can hopefully help a few of them out in the offseason I hope.
  12. @Jake McKibbin - ignorance here on my part. What are the red flags? I assume average EV is one, right? but what else as I’m still trying to I understand these (the pitching charts are way way over my feeble head) And this is the whole AAA season - I wonder if things like EV have some splits since he was up then hurt and back again and seems like those things are much better the past 30,days or so. or anyone can chime in to help this old man understand.
  13. Sam Garcia with runs allowed in consecutive innings, gives up a 1-out double. Then gets a pop up after falling behind 3-1. Next batter 3 pitch K. For his 9th K in 4 innings of relief. Wow 9 of 12 outs via the K. Unfortunately for the hits and 2 runs. But still best outing I’ve seen from him in a while.
  14. Encouraging outing by Carlos Rodriguez with 4 innings of hitless, scoreless relief to seal the 5-4 win.
  15. Brito just crushes a Sam Garcia pitch to deep center. River bandits now up 5-0. That’s Britt’s 2nd tonight T-Rats offense is just non-existent tonight.
  16. Another night another loud hard hit out by Fischer. Tonight to deep center and nice catch by the CF. 102 mph EV. Man. I thought he hit one out again. Dang it 😞
  17. T-Rats offense also starting very slowly. Down 3-0. And Wisconsin with only 2hits thru 5 innings.
  18. Oh my Carolina lost again. Nice start by Torres, but MiqueasMercedes did not have that touch today. Offense still struggling to get a lot of hit and therefore runs.
  19. @Ro Mueller- I will quibble here. You go with the standard headline, and 4 paragraphs in before mentioning that stat line. Birchard was throwing a no-hitter for 7 innings, and I honestly think he could have gone for the 8th innings (he could do 95ish pitches), but no need to risk anything for him and get him out on a high note sure. I watched maybe 4th inning on, and was in awe of how he was last night. He had his Birchard-esque moments of non-competitive pitches with a little drift away or sometimes too high. But man 80% of the time he was locked in, and the batters were just fooled. What an incredible night by a guy who has often received the criticism/critiques because of high pitch count and too many walks (and non-competitive or wayward pitches that drift away)
  20. This embodies why I am here, the fact that we have our opinions and takes, and I can pretend to be the prospect evaluator, and I love that we have our own biases ( I have been prone to rail on a few prospects in that parent/coach trying to coax the best out of their kid/athlete). I think the fact that we can have hot takes, be over the top at times is what makes at least the minor league forum so fun. But that is my opinion, but would hazard a guess that several other may feel similarly (or at least I hope, since they tolerate my rantings at times)
  21. He was the best option to keep the no hitter going though you have to admit 😂
  22. Shuckers down to their last 2 outs. Two runners on, 1 out. Down 3-1. Trying to tie it up and force bottom of the 9th. But Burke grounds into a double play dang it…. Oh yeah Fred-Nate lost so Mudacts are tied for 1st still. So a 3-3 day. Mudcats, Shuckers and Brewers all lose. T-Rats, Sounds and Packers all win 😉
  23. Payamps gets the K to end it and Nashville wins 5-2. Yoho gave up the 1 run and no more. Then Holub and finally Payamps to get the W. Tyler Black on three times with a single and 2 walks.
  24. After Yerlin’s interesting 8th. Anthony Flores tries to make life hard on himself. strike out, single, walk strike out and then wild pitch ‘Runners at 2nd &3rd. And he gets the last out T-Rats win, Ryan Birchard awarded the win tonight and truly earned. Great job Ryan!
  25. Fischer just missed hitting a double or HR to right. Just barely under it and it’s a long fly out.
