  1. Looks like Carolina at Augusta is canceled due to rain.
  2. Cut him. He peaked at 17 😉 But his swoon in mid May lasted 2 weeks. ‘He struggled mightily to start July and was off for several games (including the ASG break) and rebounded slightly, but as noted he has not shown any power recently- could be adjustments, fatigue or nagging minor injuries. Hopefully he gets into a hot streak again soon. His tools shine and he has more power potential, but he looks like he can be streakier. Peña has solid tools as well with less power projection but also appears more consistent. Nice to have them both
  3. If Carolina need reinforcements- I would think Fielder (given his age) and Encarnacion (given the production and tools) would be most likely from the Complex Crew?
  4. Good point And while some may say it’s more about individual success in the minors, there is something to be said for a group of players having individual and team success together - and getting playoff experience even if at the lower levels is a valuable experience. So very likely most of the Mudcats roster stay intact. Travis Smith was just bumped, and if a position player gets bumped up it’s more like Adamczewski and he could see a “Pratt” style cup of coffee with Biloxi prior to the playoffs maybe. But I could see him staying in Carolina for the season given the time he missed and to keep him and the others fresh and hopefully healthy.
  5. I didn’t watch but there was an injury time out Eduardo’s last at bat after a foul - so maybe hit something and soreness didn’t go away 🤷‍♂️ ‘Otherwise exactly why? Hedbert comes up and smokes a 3-2 pitch, but right at the second baseman- I mean he didn’t move. Dang. Still down but the deficit is 2-1 now
  6. Delgado throws away out #3 on a nice play to get to it. Payamps falling behind again to the 8th batter. Delgado fields it and makes the throw. And it’s over 7-5.
  7. Will Payamps blow the 7-2 lead?? oh no it’s 7-3 with only 1 out, runners on the corners, nay now bases loaded. Yikes 😳
  8. Daz answers. With a 2 run hit. 5-2 now. Wowza
  9. Big double to give the Sounds a lead. First hit for EMJ this series.
  10. Nice to see the D&D combo pitch - Dubanewicz back, and the 2 combined for 9 K to 1 walk, and only 5 hits. They should have fared better than the 5 runs allowed.
  11. Wow. Yes he was ok in June and dreadful in July. Long year for the young kid. Peña hasn’t slumped as much. Again it has felt that Pratt/Lara in Biloxi and Made/Pena in Carolina have had to shoulder a lot of the offense during the injuries/slumps of other players. All 4 still so young for their levels. Still I was hoping for more from all 4 of those young lads.
  12. Love the enthusiasm @Joseph Zarr. You called Adamczewski last season or in the offseason this year, and Dinges early on this year. Are you claiming Fischer before any of us get to see him play 😂 Hey I am calling MaKale Holden - watched a couple of his interviews and his smile is big time and seems down to earth ready to work. But my track history is not as great as yours as Cornielle is good but never been elite. Holden has some big tools pitching wise, but needs command and refinement - anyone know an organization that has a history of developing pitching that way 😉
  13. I have not seen or heard anything, and if there is news it will be updated here typically. But it seemed like a serious hamstring injury, so I would have suspected at least a month. The Brewers have become very conservative with injuries (like many teams) opting for full recovery for the players long term, as opposed to getting them back sooner for short terms gains (player and team). So I suspect we will either hear of or see an update in the next few weeks or he may miss the rest of this season. I would imagine (if healthy) Dinges and a guy like Adams or even Adamczewski, L. Castillo and even Payne could be fall league candidates. EDIT: I stand corrected as @wiguy94 found a video above - that’s great news. Thank you sir!!
  14. Good points And the most exciting development has been the promotions of Tobias, Dorchies, Dubanewicz and Renz. Although that got tempered a bit with Dubanewicz injury last weekend. But seeing them succeed and seeing Hardin's early season success and Travis Smith recent bump up to high A has me excited to see what the organization can do with so many young pitchers added in this years draft (Cairone, Morrison, Flores, Vucinovich, Roupe, Bentley and Holden). The challenge with pitchers is that there will always be a group of them on the shelf for nagging or serious injuries, so the bigger the pool, the better the odds. I reminded myself of the journey that Logan Henderson took - he didn't pitch in his draft year, and only had 13 innings in 2022, then 80 innings as a 21 year old in low A in 2023. But the past two seasons saw him vault up from possible prospect to likely starter #4/5 for next season. So patient young grasshopper I had to tell myself with these pitchers, as we will need to see where they are in 2-4 years to judge the '23-'25 draftees.
  15. Agree with @wiguy94and @Joseph Zarr. Injuries have been a huge factor - I posted in another thread of the top prospects currently on the shelf (Adams, Dinges, Wilken, Payne, Crow, Letson, Knoth just to name a few top 20ish prospects). Then those who lost the whole year like Woodward and Dylan O’Rae. Even Eric Brown Jr and Jack Hostetler only had a brief appearance. And that doesn’t even include Adamczewski who missed a chunk, or missed time by Made, Peña and Wichrowski early on. And we traded some prospects - Yophery the biggest name, but John Holobetz was a high draft pick, and recently Areinamo ‘The other factors - no break out performance from a ‘24 draft pick (although Dinges and Hardin were well on their way to do that). And average to less-than-average DSL season after the exceptional year last year. in 2023 we had Chourio, Miz and Quero establish themselves as elite players. And the 2023 draft was a zig and it was fascinating to see the team sign so many to use all bonus pool money. That August was the last time we had post-draft Complex baseball and that “23 ACL team was electric. In 2024 we had Peña, Made and Anderson put on a show in DSL, and watched KC Hunt and Yoho emerge seemingly out of nowhere. And somehow the struggling Shuckers made the post season as did the TRats, and the Muddies? This year we had Muddies in April and Shuckers in May. Just hasn’t had the same standouts in July. So maybe August will give us some memories.
  16. The Shuckers have just run out of gas. Man that team was humming in late April through early June winning the division. Then injuries mounted, but they kept winning. Now it’s just not the same. They lost 2 of their better pitchers (Crow to promotion and later injury; Hardin injured) and it’s really Kuehner as Wichrowski is so uneven, and Cornielle is inefficient with pitch counts. Hunt looked good for a few starts but overall his season has been a let down. Offensively they lost EBJ early, and then Adams/Wilken, and lost Rodriguez which was a big blow as he did hit and was a very good defensive catcher. Now Warren missing, Pratt is in a big slump. It’s Lara and Murray seemingly and occasionally Miller or Wood chipping in. Boeve is a shell of what he looked like in ‘23 and ‘24 when healthy.
  17. Great the organizational losses look like they will be mounting again. 😟 All teams in the minors are down, and only the Mudacts have more than 1 run (2 to be exact) - obviously not counting the winning DSL squads.
  18. Minor League MASH units: So in discussing the promotions, and how injuries have played a role, I went through I tried to highlight players who are either on the IL, or missing time, and some who have missed the whole season. League level (for players missing the whole year) are per B-Ref Brewers organizational page. AAA: Coleman Crow, RHP; Jefferson Quero, C AA: Tyson Hardin, RHP; Luke Adams, 1b/3b; Brock Wilken, 3b; Eric Brown Jr, ss (I forgot he played a few weeks and now missing the whole season almost). Not prospects but Tyler Bryant and Ramon Rodriguez whose injuries have really affected the flexibility of Biloxi's roster. A+: Bishop Letson, RHP; Marco Dinges, C. Out for season: Daniel Corniel (3IP), Will Rudy and Cameron Waggoner. A: Enniel Cortez, Yorman Galindez, Josh Knoth and Jason Woodward missing the whole season. Jack Hostetler, Caden Vire; and the unknown status of Jayden Dubanewicz and Braylon Payne. Yikes that is about 10 top end prospects as in those on the top 20-30 ranks or prior high draft picks (Adams, Wilken, Quero, Crow, Hardin, Letson, Dinges, Knoth, Woodward, and even EBJ) and several promising younger arms (Dubanewicz, Cortez, Galindez, Hostetler)
  19. 2-0 on the island, nice start and a reprieve from the past two days where there were only 2 wins across the organization (both yesterday). Now that the DSL has been in swing for a while, I am seeing that Juan Martinez and Johnathan Rangel are the best offensive performers along with Moises Polanco. Solid seasons and stats for all three. Martinez really struggled out of the gate in his second season, but has been on a heater in July. Johanderson Tarazona and Kegnnalex Seijias, both catchers I think. Pitching wise I have been pleasantly impressed with Diustin Mayorquin, as well as Joan Pena who has received some notice here. But Mayorquin has good numbers and overall peripherals for an also-17-year-old pitcher. Nice finds in Pena and Mayorquin.
  20. Good point by you and others. Maybe not as many promotions due to 1) youth, 2) lack of significant break out seasons and 3) injuries (probably the biggest with Dinges, Adams, Wilken, Payne, Adamczewski and even Made/Pena all missing noticeable time this year and a few unfortunately still out) Pitching side we saw a few (Crow, Hardin and recently Smith), but the biggest promotions were the '24 HS draftees all coming up from the ACL, and we did have some promotions of the '24 NDFA group. So there has been movement, but not big Pratt/Chourio/Yophery like late season bumps for a level or 2 up at this time point, but some of those happen mid to late August as well
  21. I think the issue with Pratt is he is more he is streaky and had a very good April and solid June, but his May and July have been poor offensively. His defense is good, but he is prone to gaffes that have not improved a lot. Lara had a rough start and the improved in May, and pretty steady in June/July. But his defense is elite already. So the numbers look the same but how they got there is very different and that is why I am more concerned with Pratt, as he looked great last year, and started off great, and really has been streaky and hasn't really shown a next level (his power slumped, and the K rate is lower but is up and down). Lara has shown some more plate discipline, and at least been steady, and his defense hasn't slowed down. So that's my take on these two young kids. Maybe Pratt is putting "more pressure" on himself to fill the offensive void given Adams/Wilken's departure? But shouldn't every prosect try to do that??
  22. Maybe this will get him outta that funk. Ok. Big win tonight. Get to go to bed with a smile 😀
  23. He is in a huge huge slump…..
  24. In the past 2 days within the organization, there has a been a win by the DSL Brewers Gold over the DSL Reds Rojas, and well that’s about it. Brewers loss and every minor league affiliate has lost, with the TRats trying to come back in the 10th….
