Yerlin in with a 10-0 lead. And I was expecting something wild. And man this was the best I've seen Yerlin in over a year. 95-97 mph and around the zone enough. Not too wild. But his offspeed pitch ( I assume slider or something like that but the screen says "Cutter" at about 88 mph) was sharp. Again he teases but that Yerlin is a prospect and a borderline MLB caliber reliever. But we see that Yerlin like a few times a year. So much potential. But so little execution.

Wilson gives up 3 runs in the 10th, with only 1 out. But man that last "double" was a high chopper over Ortuno and was fair by about 1 inch. Mercado left in to see if he can work out of the jam. This is education for you young man.

I think ranked in the 15-20 range. He has the best raw power in the system, but his swing and miss stuff is the biggest issue. He is a future 1B, but has been playing some 3B, but with his height/size, I don't see him playing there long term, but he is athletic enough to handle 1B and that height/range can help.

Payne with HR #20. Just wow. He and Bitonti are both destined to have 20 HR seasons.

The question will be for some of these guys - is this true offensive development (ie Ragsdale finding power he didn't have), or just whatever "not juiced" ball we are seeing in most of the minors?? I mean Burke and Fischer have legit power, but those HR numbers are crazy compared to the past 10 years or so.

yeah losing a full year for those two, and .limited innings for Thompson and MOrrison. Then add the incredible journey for Cairone is a welcome story, but from a purely cold results standpoint is not what we were expecting this time last year. That is NOT to take anything away from what he has done since New Years. And Vucinovich, Holden and Bentley - whether it is live ball, or just get acclimated to pro ball, but not quite the same step forward as we saw with pitchers in other years. Hopeful for more - maybe next year

I think every pitcher who is effective gets "over used". Starters get "over-used" pitching 5-7 innings per start if they are effective. And good reliever too. There are two sides to that - one is the overuse, which is real and even I acknowledge that now (growing up int he 80s I was of that old school "why do players need days off" mentality until a year or 2 ago). The other is hitters have more chance to see the stuff in person or on video, so they get to guess on tendencies the more you pitch. So we need to keep pitching these guys, but balance it out. And the offense is a big factor. If this was a 5-3 lead as opposed to a 3-1 deficit Pannone maybe goes longer. Not blaming the offense here, but the game is a team sport. With all that said, the trade deadline NEEDS are 1. a starting pitcher; 2. at least one high leverage reliever for the 7-8th inning; and 3. one bat who can play 3B or OF, preferably a RHH who can mash LHP. Now we will likely try to get one and get a few players who could hopefully fill in the other categories. But I also contend that the team this year as a team is great, but there is not stand out (like Yeli/Braun/Cain in 2018/2019; or Burnes/Peralta/Woody in 2021). Similar to last year, it is a whole team effort, and I wonder if one player or two really moves that needle a lot to "go all in", so while the records is what the records is, the Brewers are one of the top 3-4 teams in the league, I guess I don't feel or see this as a true top 4 team, so I'm not in favor of giving up a lot, especially with the unknown of 2027.

I really appreciate your insights @ARobsBrewCrew - that is a perspective that is good to hear as far as injury. I think some is expectation, coming into the season and expecting everyone completely healthy and then having so much competition that we have tons of pitchers perform well. But the offense has been super high across the leagues. Anyway, we can return this thread back to the transactions and the discussion on transactions. MODERATORS - feel free to pull these posts into another thread if there is more discussion on this, sorry to have "hijacked" this but that post of so many pitchers going to 60-day IL triggered me obviously.

Agree. A lot there in potential. It’s the lost year on injury, recovery or just down years. Maybe I’m just bummed from the loss to SF, and seeing Hardin’s poor line tonight. But there have’t been a big step forward by many hurlers. Owen’s and Niksch have been very nice surprises. Hardin has been good. But Letson good just limited, ditto Knoth. And still waiting for something more from Thompson, Morrison, Vucinovuch, Holden and Bentley;or big steps by Dubanewicz or Dorchies. Although Thompson had a nice start today, please stay healthy🤞

Wow. What a lost year for pitching. A few coming back from injury who are easing in (Knoth among others), and multiple longer term. Man losing a year of development by Meccage along with the lost years for most of the ‘25 picks is a set back. And then not being able to sign the 5th round pick.. next draft picks 1-20 need to be pitchers.

agree. I think the sentiment has gone from "what is this kid doing" (as I was thinking earlier), to "What the heck is Clemson thinking". As this type of precedent won't go un-noticed, and hopefully will put Clemson players at a disadvantage next year that hurts the program. I am for a college program trying to field as competitive a team as possible, and I can see them out-gunning each other in this new dog-eat-dog world of portals and NIL. BUT, to start a new precedent of out-bidding a MLB team who agreed to a deal in the draft with NIL money is either genius or insane. My stance is the latter given I wanted all these kids to join the organization. But even if they did this to a Cubs/Cards draft pick, I would have raised an eyebrow a bit. So good luck Aidan. But I hope Clemson baseball really suffers.

Yeah, that will hopefully be noticed by other MLB teams. I mean I get that they want a competitive team and don't love seeing players leave, but that is part of the game in college - you get a kid for a couple years. I was going to say, that it would ironic if other colleges did the same, and then HS players would be the "safe" picks now, if college try to outbid MLB for these 5-10 round players to keep a competitive team. But if the new CBA eliminates the HS player from being draft eligible, then maybe Clemson is the trend-setter here. I mean as a fan of this team, and wanting all picks signed, I will selfishly root for any team that plays Clemson and hope this move backfires on them big time. yeah I'm not vengeful or spiteful or anything. Good luck to Aidan, but not to Clemson 😉
