  1. I'm waiting for Ned to simply say "(Bleep) happens" and walk away from a press conference when something bad happens.
  2. All involved parties suck. The city got scared off by the NBA's mighty lawyers. The league inexplicably put the screws to a great market in order to allow a new owner to move the team to an unproven market. This is why the NFL is and always will be king. They'd never allow some renegade owner to buy a team and move it like this. (See: "McCombs, Red")
  3. Braun's 0-2 and we're up 6-1. In the second inning. Yikes.
  4. Is Gabe Kapler dead? If not, then why is Ned adjusting his lineup to get Bill Hall in a game against a right-handed pitcher? Please tell me he's not letting Hall's 3-for-10 career against Livan outweigh his .158/.222/.304 against righties this season. Please. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/frown.gif (Furthermore, according to Baseball Reference, Counsell is 17-for-42 with a .490 OBP against Hernandez. What the...?)
  5. At 0-1 or 0-2, there's little chance they IBB Hardy. But they do pitch him different, and maybe Hardy doesn't strike out. Maybe he hits one to the right side that gets the runner over. Then, Gardy has to make a decision. Pitch to Braun, or pitch to Fielder. There's little chance IMHO he IBBs Braun, but maybe Nathan is enough out of his rhythm that Braun can work a base hit (like he did the way it really did play out). Getting Weeks to second or third with two out means that he scores on a base hit, because the outfield is playing deep to cut off the extra-base hits. But, again, why would we force the other team's hand like that?
  6. The Twins announcers talked about it. They know Yost, even though they only see him six games a year, and they knew he wouldn't send Rickie when that meant an IBB was coming for sure. One of Yost's huge weaknesses is that he doesn't ever force the hand of the opposing manager. Make Gardenhire call for an IBB that puts the go-ahead run on base with less than two out. I mean, there's the downside that Weeks might get thrown out. But Nathan is a tad slow to the plate, and Mauer hasn't been lights-out throwing runners out this year. I'll take my chances. Yost won't. That and the positively idiotic decision to put Mota out there in the eighth, oh and the decision to let McClung try to get the win, oh and the failure to get Shouse in there against the bigger left-handed power threat in the seventh cost us this game. Ack.
  7. So Jason Kubel hits .219 with an OPS of barely .600 against lefties. Um, why did Villanueva pitch to him? I'm curious, because Shouse was a no-brainer call there. He can pitch to two lefties and pitch around Young. Oh, well. It's well-established that the manager doesn't read stats unless it's convenient for him. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  8. Imagine how quickly it would have gone on the old Dome turf. That stuff was like painted asphalt.
  9. Are we going to let McClung completely blow this lead, or bring someone else in to do it?
  10. Before someone says it, no, Braun would never have thrown Mauer out at the plate had he caught that ball. No way. Not sliding like he did. And he had to play deep to cut off the alleys.
  11. "I hate the Packers. All they do is throw five-yard slant passes. If that quarterback was any kind of man, he'd throw the ball deep like we always do." http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  12. Casilla came out of the game. No need for a double switch, though. We don't play real baseball in Minnesota. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/tongue.gif
  13. http://www.interq.or.jp/www1/onj1/corey/sunglasses.jpg
  14. I never thought that ball had a chance. Baggie, maybe. Vikings seats, never.
  15. Am I missing something here, or is bunting a part of the game? If it is, then why the incessant whining about it? I suppose you thought it was okay to advocate throwing at that catcher who broke up a no-hitter with a bunt single a few years back?
  16. Well, that pitch missed by a little bit. Or maybe a foot. Ack.
  17. If teams aren't going to defend it, what's wrong with it? That's like a football coach complaining that the opponent is running too many reverses. Hell, I wish Weeks would use his speed and drop a bunt more often. Maybe he'd start getting more confident at the plate. Oh, and I'll say it: Why is Joe Dillon on this team?
  18. We'll be lucky to get out of it with just the one run. Also lucky Kendall didn't get impaled by that bat.
  19. How could we be that unprepared for bunts from two guys who do it all the time?
  20. Sadly, it's not even true. They've hit two home runs tonight, and they only have two runs. That's not a lot.
  21. From what I've seen of Blackburn this year, he appears to be a tad hittable tonight. Gotta take advantage of this before he dials in (assuming that happens).
  22. This is what worries me. About the only thing he does well now is work the count, but he blows a lot of potential walks by swinging at terrible pitches. And the fact that he looks like he's just closing his eyes and swinging (I know he isn't really doing that) doesn't help.
  23. Yeah, about that "looks lost at the plate" thing. Yeah.
  24. I like Weeks a lot, but man does he look lost at the plate a lot. And I'm still not convinced he could hit a fastball even if he knew it was coming. He'll turn it around. Hopefully soon.
  25. Nononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononononono Sorry. I meant that I had conceded this game yesterday when discussing the series. I figured the Twins would win Friday, we'd win Sunday, and Saturday was a tossup that depended a lot on how the inconsistent Hernandez threw for Minnesota. It's not like I sit down to watch and keep saying to myself "We're gonna lose". It's not like that. But, yeah, I do think we'll fall tonight, especially if McClung continues to struggle throwing strikes. Branyan is the only lefty to homer against Blackburn this year.
