  1. So between the bad umpiring and bad hitting and bad weather, I'm glad this game isn't on DirecTV? OK. Hope we win, anyway.
  2. Brian is awesome. I thoroughly enjoy his work. If I were a baseball broadcaster, his would be a good model to follow. He's clearly much more comfortable than he was when he started, and that's a good thing.
  3. It's also possible that I'm stupid. Wow. He got off to a good start, but he's tailed off badly here in the fifth. Bill Hall disagrees. He thinks Sanchez is pitching great. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  4. From the sounds of it, and from what I have briefly seen since getting home, this Sanchez kid has NASTY stuff. Good young pitcher. The Giants have a bright future with this staff. I hope we can hold their putrid offense off the board all weekend, because we won't score a ton of runs IMHO.
  5. I have the $12 sports tier, mainly because I get extra college football, college hockey, and college baseball games on all the various RSNs. I also get ESPNU and CBS College Sports (the former CSTV). Not only that, but if you're gone during the afternoon and there are baseball games, you can sometimes catch replays on RSNs. Those aren't blacked out in most cases. After plunking down $120 for the second half of the NHL season on Center Ice, Extra Innings won't be happening. Especially after I broke down and finally bought a Wii. I need games for it now. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  6. Good news. The Brewers should press JRN to get more affiliates for the network, because it is tough to pick up WTMJ during the daytime when you get too far away from Milwaukee. I have to think there's a way to fill the dead spots that exist.
  7. So we're giving up on the game in the sixth inning, Ned? I mean, there's no other good reason to keep Bush in the game, right? Oh, well. I'm all for a series win. They aren't going 162-0, anyway.
  8. I would have preferred Turnbow in the ninth, but perhaps the thought was that they wouldn't use Riske back-to-back days, so it was pointless to burn a guy you might need tomorrow when the score is 8-2 today. After two games, I'm more than willing to let Ned slide on how he uses the bullpen. Unless he does something REALLY stupid, I'm not going to get terribly concerned.
  9. Jason Kendall: Worth Every Penny.
  10. Braun made the last out of the eighth, Baldkin. I'd go with Gagne in the ninth. Let him get some confidence in a low-pressure spot.
  11. Imagine if we were better than 5-for-20 with RISP today. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/ohwell.gif
  12. And give Braun credit for wearing sunglasses. Many outfielders are dumb and don't bother to wear them during day games...or they'll wear the flip-down variety and keep them up even when trying to play a ball. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  13. Didn't know that rule about the pitcher throwing to first (the first baseman having to be on the base, that is). I must have missed the play that involved Fielder last year.
  14. It's good. I'm too cheap to plunk down the $170 or whatever when I get all the ESPN, FOX, WGN, and TBS national games, plus all the Twins and Brewers games on FSN. But it's still fun to watch all the games for a week. It's especially enjoyable to get to listen to Vin Scully call games. He's the gold standard in our business. Still.
  15. I think I already covered that. I'm all for screaming down Hall if they were yelling at him and he was staring at Corey Hart for no reason. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif Oh, and don't worry. I won't be on for every game.
  16. You're going to give John Kruk ideas. Stop it.
  17. I find it hard to believe that there isn't a way for a coach to communicate to a guy at second base to tone down the lead a bit before he gets picked off in a key spot in the game. Then again, this is Ned Yost, so such a system is probably still three or four years away. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/smile.gif
  18. Don't get me started. The other half of this board will hate my guts. http://forum.brewerfan.net/images/smilies/wink.gif
  19. I think we've learned that we can't always trust players to have their head in the game. Somewhere in the three pitches between the pickoff throws, it would have been nice for one coach on this team to do their job. (And if, by chance, one of them did try to do their job, then Bill Hall should be beaten with Ben Sheets' bat. It's not like Ben would miss it, anyway.)
  20. Hart was apparently waiting for a pitch that was right down the middle just below the belt. Oh, wait. That's the pitch he got. Maybe he was waiting for one in the dirt.
  21. Checking his shoelaces to make sure they were tied before he started running.
  22. How did Zambrano hurt himself on a pickoff throw?
  23. Just ridiculous. Utterly ridiculous. The kind of crap that real coaches never allow to happen. Hall should have been put on a leash after the first pickoff attempt. Instead, he takes a bigger lead than the first time, and none of the morons in the dugout or the moron at third base do anything about it. Perfect start to the season. Everyone's sleeping.
