someone mentioned he is a type A I believe This Elias-rankings-reverse-engineered-spreadsheet (via MLBTraderumors) has him as a Type A, but only by a few slots. I don't know enough about the Elias system to tell what kind of performance would move him up or down on that list. -
What about the idea of using K-Rod as a stopper. i.e. Narvy or Zack get in trouble in the fifth inning... rather than letting them falter and give up a crooked number, have K-Rod come in and be a fifth inning "closer". Of course he could still set up in other games when the situation dictated such. I got the idea here (about three paragraphs below Heath Bell's stats). P.S. Grantland seems like a pretty sweet site.

Best 1-6 of the year so far IMO, and best 3B/SS defensive combo all year. Can't complain.

Granted, going for it now throws a few budgetary constraints out the window, but can someone throw a few payroll numbers up here so we can gauge how much we might actually be able to spend to shore up SS? Thx

I know Doug Davis' contract isn't burdensome and I know most contenders will be looking for a little more impact, but wouldn't it be worth it to put out feelers to teams like the Dodgers? Then we could deal him as soon as he's off the DL. Reasons:I don't think four lefties in the rotation is a good idea.It would be nice to try to grab a high ceiling A or AA pitcher.I'd just as soon see Parra, Cappy and Bush get the starts. Thus far none of them really seem any worse of an option than Davis.
