  1. You certainly should see what the offers would be for Maldanado now. If somebody blows you away, trade him. More than likely you keep him. But it'd be nice to sell high and get an impact prospect at a position that we don't have a guy like Lucroy currently manning.
  2. I could certainly see us being interested in Gordon. I doubt LAD wants to trade him though. I highly doubt they'd view Hairston as more than a day a week SS type at this point. They'll want to keep him. I bet they'd take Wolf back though. He pitched well there and loved LA. Had they not had their ownership issues, he'd probably still be pitching there. Throwing him in to the deal might help get us Eovaldi.
  3. I'd like to get Odor along with Feliz. If we have to throw in a Wolf/KROD or B prospect so be it.
  4. I'd love to get Escobar. If just one of Jungman, Nelson, Bradley, Burgos, etc could get it done, I'd do that. If it required more of a package, I'd keep looking and maybe revisit in the winter while looking at other options.
  5. Jimmy Nelson might be our top pitching prospect now that Thornburg is up. I don't think his name should have been mentioned in this particular context.
  6. How about letting KROD close a few games to get his trade value up. Then deal KROD and Greinke to Detroit for Castenallos and Turner. We can pay whatever they wish in salary within reason to get both players.
  7. I don't know JB. He's just not a high enough celing guy to where I can see them "really get a haul". Combined with the down year, I think they'd trade him for an arm that they really like. Whether we can agree on one with them is another story.
  8. It seems Castenallos from Detroit might be tough to get. What about Greinke and Wolf (if he can have a good enough start or two) for Porcello and Turner? I don't think the Tiger brass is huge fans of Porcello in that park, and I think they'd be more willing to deal Turner than Castenallos. It's a bit outside the box, but then again, I kind of expect Doug to do something different than other team's gm's when he sells rather than just absorbing prospects (for better or worse).
  9. This would be a great pickup. I'd like to keep Peralta and Nelson, but I'd give Toronto their pick of Jungman, Bradley, Rogers, et al for Escobar straight up.
  10. Would Segura, Richards, and Cron work for people? Segura moves to short. Richards hopefully works in our rotation. Cron I liked in the draft last year and wanted us to pick. He can be traded since its been over a year, right?
  11. I'd do Gould and Lee for Hart plus a little extra. I'd hold onto Hart, or choose another team to deal with, if I only got back Lee and Sands.
  12. Hi guys, Just signed up here after a long hiatus since the site change. Time to start talking trades with you guys though... Which of these deals do you think we'd have a shot at... 1) Marcum to Detroit for Castenallos 2) Greinke to Detroit for Turner and Castenallos 3) Greinke to Texas for Holland and Olt 4) Greinke to Texas for Feliz and Olt 5) Greinke to Atlanta for Minor, Pastronicky, Teaharan 6) Greinke to LAD for Lee and Eovaldi 7) One of Wolf/KROD to Atlanta for Pastronicky These are the deals I'd focus on if I were Doug Melvin
  13. I'm sure Lee could play a berkman-esque corner outfield at a minimum, if we so desire. The key would be to just use him once a week there pick the right matchup to do so.
  14. +1 for the LaPorta thread idea, as the Indians signing of Kotchman could make him available and makes him a relevant name to discuss. But a much bigger -1 on somehow turning this thread into LaPorta vs Green. I almost want to start a new thread that focuses on LaPorta and how he might fit for us.
  15. I'm mildly drunk, but I was watching the bucks game and I swear the ticker said he signed a two year sixteen million dollar deal. If true, that's great.
  16. Nady is far too gritty of a battler for my liking.
  17. Carlos Pena, Johnny Damon, or Derrick Lee are more what they will look at.
  18. Keep in mind we will save money when Braun is suspended without pay for fifty games too. That's another two plus million.
  19. What do we save if Braun's suspension is upheld and what is the estimate we have to pay off KROD to get out of paying his huge salary this year? I thought the estimate was around 2-3 million in each case. So, cut KROD, supersub Gamel and put him in left the first fifty games, get Prince for 5/100. Easier said than done, but I'd use Braun's suspension money to payoff krod and have a chance at a bargain priced fielder.
  20. Texas will sign Darvish and be out on Prince. The max Prince gets is 6/150 and I a team does that, they likely way overbid some modest offer from the runner_up.
  21. well, if we have about 2.5 million to offer Aoki plus his 2.5 million posting fee, count me as one that'd like to give Lee 1/5mil instead if he'd accept that.
  22. I had Jack Wilson pegged as the guy Doug would sign for this role, but Izturis is bascially the same provided he can stay healthy. Probably a bit cheaper too.
  23. Truthfully, none of us have any clue. There's reason to be optimistic and think we pulled a coup and also reason to be pessimistic and think he's a AAAA player. Time will tell.
  24. Reminds me of one of those comedy shows or maybe it was a comedy movie. The quick news commercial previewing the nightly news had the newscaster saying "The Presdient died today....but President of what? We'll tell ya tonight at ten."
