  1. Yeah I guess free swinger isn't the right word but he was very aggressive and not as patient. He seemed to be much more of a 2 or 3 hitter. IMO it just seems like he is turning into much more of a leadoff hitter. He still strikes out a bunch but not the same way. He doesn't chase pitches out of the zone as much and most of his K's as I mentioned before are from him being to patient and picky with 2 strikes on him. You can tell he is trying much harder to take walks.
  2. He has to with all the speed or there would be a riot and people calling for his head lol Top to bottom this has to be pretty close to the fast team in the NL. Beside for Prince, McGehee, and Zaun (I think Kotteras has good speed for a catcher, but not 100% sure) Everyone else can run. Man Rickie has really turned into a lead off hitter up there. He isn't the free swinger that he use to be. At times (with 2 strikes) he can be a little too patient but he has really improved over the years, his defense is really coming around also
  3. where can I find an online streaming of the game that is free? WTMJ doesn't stream games online
  4. When Hart got introduced before the game I was surprised with the good reception. I personally would not boo him or any player for having health issues and a .260 and .330 OBP season. Not to mention that showed the ability to walk more. A little down season and bad spring is not worthy of booing or not to cheer for him.
  5. Weeks goes yard! I hope he can finally stay healthy and we will be able to see this for a full season
  6. I'm not going to ride Zaun off yet, remember how good Kendell started out at first with the brewers and hit almost .500 for like 3 weeks or so weeks, then he never hit again... too early. Ha I thought Kendell was incredible at first and a great pick up and yeah I got a little ahead of myself
  7. If this team play more small ball stuff like what Gomez is doing right now I would be estatic! Like Braun dropping down a bunt yesterday, that is awesome. Zahn not dropping a bunt with 2 on 0 out yesterday is the exception and was a bad move even if he did have a hot bat in spring training. The past 3-4 years all we have seen is a team that lives and dies by the long ball. It is nice to see them becoming a more well-rounded offense. McGehee, if we hold off and win I forgive for your pop up with the bases loaded. Beside for that at0bat he is swinging pretty well right now. Big reason I put no stock into how a batter hits in Spring training.
  8. I was hoping the would start Davis off in Appleton giving all the fans a chance to come see him and just get his feet wet a little bit in pro-ball. Brevard Country isn't a very hitter friendly place to play and start out. I wonder if Dykstra is going to A+ or if Gennett took his spot with the T-Rats? They are playing Gennett at SS to stat out right?
  9. I may be alone but I have no problem what so ever with Zach in the pen and not being a starter. I see a lot of Joba Chamberlain in Zach. Joba is a dominate in the pen but when stretched out he loses his approach that makes him so great. In a perfect world every pitcher like Braddock and Chamberlain would be stretched out and be a starter but it isn't a perfect world and every team needs guys to dominate the back end of the bullpen. Zachs bullpen stuff is pure flithy and extremely hard for an offensive player to go out their and face once a game. Being in the pen keeps his arm fresh and allows him to go out and bring it every pitch with his best stuff. As a starter he has to pull back a lot like Joba and that could cause him to be not as effective, like Joba.
  10. Wow this thread amazes me. Can we give a guy at least until May before we have a melt down on him? I didn't know that MLB players were not allowed to have an off-season. He had some healthy issue, his swing was off and his pitch selection but doesn't mean he will remain in the funk forever. Spring training performance for a hitter is not a legit arguement at all. Last season Hart bent over Cactus league pitching and poped 7 homers and hit near .400 I believe. I put no stock into spring training hitting. If I didn't last year I'd think Brent Brewer was a top 10 minor league prospect for how well he hit in big league camp. You don't go from being as consistant and good as Hart has been since he was drafted to all of a sudden completely lose all ability to hit. He will figure it out. Gerut is no way the better option to start because his play may have even been worse that Harts. Also sending Hart down would a horrendious decision. That would be a huge slap in the face that I don't see helping him at all.
  11. nevermind, it is not up yet but it can be found along with all the other 30 in 30s here: http://mlbnetwork.mlb.com.../promotions/30_in_30.jsp
  12. Anyone watch? Is there somewhere online to watch it?
  13. Captain Lou and Tom Wilhelmson were two that I loved and yeah... I also was big into Luis Martinez and Christian Guerrero. I was a big Vlad fan so I thought Christian was going to be the second coming of his cousin. Or at least be an okay MLB player like Wilt but he failed me.
  14. The Brewers def got lucky this season when it comes to arby because almost everyone had injury issue, a down year, or both giving the players very little leverage at all. Coffey to me would prob be up for the biggest raise out of all them because he is the only one to stay healthy and play consistantly well for the whole season. This arby period should be rather painless.
  15. God I can't wait to see Gomez bust out this season! His situation reminds me of Aaron Rodgers a bit with how everyone just hates on him without giving him a chance because he is 24 and hasn't prvoed anything yet. No matter how high the potential or anything. I have yet to talk to a Twins fan who wasn't extremely high on the kid and actually rather upset about the trade. But onto Gerut I think its a good price. An extra 225,000 isn't going to make much of a difference on the pay role. He is a decent 4th OF who wasn't given many chances to play before Hart got injured
  16. As for number 2, it is going to be very interesting and who knows maybe in 2011 Lofgren could move into the rotation and Braddock stays in the pen. Lofgren has been a starter his whole career, has a good 4 pitch arsonal, he is only 23. So I think you keep him in the pen and give him situational experience for the beginning of the season come June if he is pitching very well you could give a few extended outings and hopefully if needed by the end of summer he could spot start if needed. In 2011 he could fight for a rotation spot. I hope Peterson can help him out with the control. This kid has tons of talent and if he sticks for the season this is a steal! I am a big fan of Braddock but I'd like him to have another healthy season with an increased work load. No need to rush him, he is a big part of are future and we can't throw him away like Neugebauer.
  17. Crap, yeah I believe your right. It was the year before that. 2007 pitched real well at the end and 2008 was in the rotation to start out the season until being pulled in like May, which then he pitched real well out of the pen that lead to him as a closer option this season. My mistake.
  18. My more questionable moves would be starting Periard at AAA but if healthy it makes sense with AA being pretty well set. Scarpetta got a taste at the end of the season and I had him at BC first but moved him up last second. He is on the 40 man roster already so I don't know if they do want to try to move him a little faster because of the whole, odd contract situation. Krestalude I have at BC because of how willing they were to play him up last season. Burgos I moved up to BC but it was between him and Lamontagne. It seems every year they bypass a college draft pick over A. I hope Lasker is piggy-backed because he is one of my favorite pitchers. I really like the look of Huntsville and Wisconsin rotation. If that is what the Wisconsin rotation looks like, I don't think there is a game I wouldn't want to go to. Even without Scapetta the A+ one looks not bad eighter.
  19. It is a little early and pretty hard to tell but I was looking at minor league pitching stats and really got curious of where the pitchers are going to be this season. It really could go a lot of different ways. This is what I kind of came up with. I may have forgot a few players (let me know) but as of right now how do you guys invison Reid Nichols placing these guys? AAA *Butler, Cody, Jones, Welsh, Periard --- Hand, Capuano, Green, Bramhall AA *Rogers, Scarpetta, Anundsen, Rivas, Bowman ---Jeffress, Merklinger, Meadows A+ * Peralta, Nieves, Seidel, Watten, Krestalude ---Fredrickson, Adams, Burgos A *Arnett, Heckathorn, Odorizzi, Howell, Bucci ---Lasker, Lomantagne Rosario *Top 5 in rotation --- alternative or piggy-back pitchers
  20. exactly what I was thinking, that is a HUGE workload for a RP. If they felt that comfortable with his arm to do that I'd have to believe they would have him as a starter. But I do agree with the point that he could be just a valuable coming out of the pen but I see it as more of a closer that could give you the 8th and 9th if needed. That is huge if he could be the shutdown guy after Hoffman retires. As for Axford, I know I'm not surprised by him at all. I'm really looking forward to see what he can do next season. I also am really going to keep a eye on Fiers and Wooten this season because they both could make it up by September next season. (Fiers I think will continue to rise fast like Axford did last year if he pitches anything like he did last year) Plus Aguilar if he gets his act together.
  21. Actually, he thrived early on when they made him a starter. When he came up for us initially, then down the stretch a few years ago he posted very good numbers. Small sample sizes, but to say he's failed, completely failed simply isn't accurate. He also pitched great at the end of 2008 when the he had to move back into the rotation which is why he started in the rotation this season. It is almost like every year he alternates between being better in the pen or the rotation. Well except he was terrible in both this year. With Parra it is 100% a head/confidence thing. He has to learn not to get so down all the time. He is the definition of a domino effect. One thing goes wrong and the wheels just fall off and he loses all control. Like this season before being sent down. After he built up his confidence back up he pitched much better. He is 27 years old so it time he figures it out and starts to develop some consistantly. I really like the Harden Suppan idea and if they signed Mulder that would work to. You figure Harden and Mulder can give you 5 good innings but not much after that so let Suppan come in and pitch 2-3 innings on those days. Just have to seperated in the rotation so Gallardo Harden Parra Bush Mulder or Mulder then Bush. I really hope Jones gets a far chance to battle it out for one of those positions or at least a bullpen spot.
  22. As of right now I like the idea of him being in the pen and possibly our future closer better. Thats just my opinion. He is so dominating as a reliever when hitters only get to see him once. Eighter way I have no problem and will be happy with what they decide. If they feel is arm is strong enough and he is in good enough condition to go 6-7 innings an outting, awesome! If not, he is an absolutely nasty pitcher and beside for a very few outtings this season and one in the fall he is pure dominate as a reliever. It really seems like a win-win senario to me.
  23. Lol, I hope thats just a joke. I have no clue why so many people on here keep bringing up trade proposals that involve Gomez. There is about maybe a 1% chance or less that Melvin would turn around and trade a young, extremely talented, cheap 24 year old CF that he is apparently rather high on before even giving him a chance. Can't believe how unaccepting people are of Gomez, it is incredible. As for Pagan, I guess if they are getting ready to move heart I would understand it. Not sold on Gerut as our everyday Right Fielder but Gamel on the other hand.......
