  1. But, but, but...Lucroy is the reason Wolf struggled! Kottaras needs to catch him!
  2. Nice! I've been a Canucks fan ever since I was young and dominated NHL '94 with Pavel Bure, Kirk McLean, and Trevor Linden. If you want a fun team with a great fan base, I'd suggest the Canucks. Henrik and Daniel Sedin are an absolute joy to watch, and their defense looks much improved for the upcoming season. Besides, being from Vancouver they don't have any conflicts with baseball/football rivalries (Chicago, Minnesota, etc.).
  3. I was thinking Trout was pretty much untouchable, and I'm pretty surprised they got this deal done without him. I don't know much about the Angels' system, but from what I've read above, this is pretty brutal for the D-backs. Haren has a substantial amount of excess value over the course of this contract, and I thought he was untouchable for practical purposes.
  4. They could, but they probably wouldn't want to. Generally, money tomorrow is worth less than money today, so frontloading a contract rather than backloading it is just like paying the player more. Chris Capuano once picked off Carlos Zambrano when he had no more than a 18" lead.
  5. I have been as well. It's fun to see the European giants tour the states, even if the stars aren't with them. Watching the Brewers has been agonizing. At this point, I'd rather watch Maltese minor league handball.
  6. For how awful Wolf has been, it's amazing that his ERA is only 4.67. He has the highest xFIP in the majors (5.24) and the second highest FIP in the majors (5.70).
  7. Gomez was on deck. I'd have sent him on an infield pop up.
  8. Witrado was just giving a name drop to try and make himself sound smart. There's no way he can read a simple line graph and interpret its meaning.
  9. Sweet. Gomez in center again. Sorry Lo. 2B Rickie Weeks RF Corey Hart LF Ryan Braun 1B Prince Fielder 3B Casey McGehee CF Carlos Gomez SS Alcides Escobar C George Kottaras LHP Randy Wolf
  10. Hasn't it been said that the organization simply doesn't think Braddock could stay healthy as a starter? If he could be healthy, I think they'd go for it.
  11. I wonder if Casey McGehee, Rickie Weeks, and Prince Fielder know the reason? Of course I don't know if Melvin ever considered the team's infield defense when choosing a guy like Wolf over someone like Piniero, but I really do think guys like him would "struggle" in Milwaukee. Oh, and on a tangent, is anybody else sick of the way Bill calls weak ground balls that our inept defense can't get to "good pieces of hitting"? I feel like I hear that from him every time an opposite field dribbler gets by Prince down the line... Back on topic, Capuano has done a really nice job. Resigning him would probably cost around $1MM + incentives, and I really don't think he'd take up too much of the organization's time with a laborious negotiation process. If he doesn't want to sign that type of deal, or he wants more playing time, they can each go their separate ways.
  12. The north side of Chicago is still looking for a major league team...
  13. Rumor has it he's going to be brought in the next time they face Paul Janisch.
  14. Seriously, how can you be surprised about the suspension? The first ball goes over his head, and the second hits him beneath the shoulder blades. Heck, even if it wasn't intentional, it deserves a suspension.
  15. http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/98713239.html Macha comments. As much as he annoys me from day to day, I agree with his opinion on this. It just isn't necessary.
  16. I don't see how saying that he has a positive UZR is twisting the numbers. He hasn't been awesome, but he has been at least average, and the numbers agree. Getting back to Cain, it was great to see him drive the ball today. Hopefully we can see him play tomorrow (and Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday). I wonder if something's up with Gomez given the double switch.
  17. But Gomez needs to see major league pitching so he can continue to develop!
  18. As far as I'm concerned, Gomez can be on the next flight to Nashville. Better yet, he can be on the next Greyhound.
  19. Speed don't slump. (But "toolsy" slap hitters with terrible plate discipline slump eternally)
  20. I was not aware that Gennett was rumored to be looking for a large bonus. Does anybody know what type of bonus he ended up receiving from the Crew? It's hard not to drool at these numbers from a 2B: .325/.375/.494/.869 No need to fast track him with Lawrie around, so hopefully he's allowed to finish the year at A. That and I'm hoping to watch him the next time the Rattlers come to Cedar Rapids.
  21. This team needs a goon. Gretzky had McSorely. Prince needs Branyan.
  22. I think it very well may have been. At first I thought it was Fielder that Hanson hit last series, but I remembered it was Braun. Part of me wants to see Fielder just go crazy on one of these pitchers for nailing him. Watching him go after Hanson just might be worth a few games of suspension time.
  23. I don't know, there is always a good chance Branyan swung hard but missed it completely. Right, but the gust from his swing most likely would have still taken out the table.
  24. I'm assuming the table got the worst of it.
