  1. I won't complain as I'll be out of class tomorrow by 3:00! Two Brewers games, 3 weeks left in the school year...Yup, nothing will get done tomorrow. Oh, and ZACH FREAKIN' GREINKE is pitching tomorrow.
  2. Dear Ron, Clap. Clap. Clap. That top six looks really good against a righty. Let's hope it looks as good on the field as it does on paper.
  3. I'm guessing that has something to do with it. Also, Suppan was somewhat productive in his first season with the Brewers. That said, I can't imagine how long this thread would be if Betancourt were signed to a mega-deal.
  4. At the suggestion of mothershipconnection in the Betancourt thread. What are some of the worst (or best) threads in the history of Brewerfan? I'll start by nominating the never ending circular debate of the Betancourt thread.
  5. And that's about the same time Gomez will hit the bench.Didn't we say the same thing about the 2-hole? If Gomez plays against righties over Plush, there will be a mutiny on this board. Mark my words.
  6. Betancourt is now 0 for 2 on the night. Therefore, he sucks. I thought I'd never say this, but haven't we beaten this dead horse enough? I just don't know if anyone is going to change their mind at this point.
  7. I'd rather see Betancourt in the 2-hole than Gomez. There I said it. Lucroy also would look quite a bit better in the 2-hole. Oh well, life goes on. Overall that's still a pretty good 1-6.
  8. C'mon, Ronny. It's about time to move Gomez down to the 8-hole.
  9. That's not surprising to hear. Simply the fact that he didn't let in any boneheaded goals (Hossa game 4 1st goal) is a reason to be optimistic.
  10. Spent last night's game on a plane, but I was pretty happy to see Luo with the shutout when I turned my phone back on. Not much to say about the game, given that I didn't see it, but from what I've seen Luongo looked very solid in net.
  11. I'm not entirely sure I understand where this criticism is coming from. Yes, there have been threads discussing Fielder, but nobody has been saying he's a bad player. My opinion is just that the club will be far better off taking that $20MM and spending it on other pieces. I really like Fielder. I like Braun even more. That doesn't make Prince a good defender, and neither does it make Braun a good defender. Just about everybody here is going to miss watching Braun-Fielder in the order, but most accept that keeping Fielder around would be detrimental to the club.
  12. Their goal song is enough to make me hate them as much as the Bears.Their goal song and their bandwagon are certainly not hard to dislike. It is funny to see the legion of "Hawks fans for life" that don't know who Eric Daze and Tony Amonte are.
  13. In what world is Escobar's glove only slightly better than Yuniesky's? I don't mean to beat a dead horse, but what are people basing these types of statements on? I'm no longer a defend Escobar to the end of the earth right now, but many of these comments about Escobar are ridiculous.
  14. Sabo, welcome to the board. I think you'll find that most people around here thoroughly enjoy the Reds' attitude towards the Cardinals (or at least Brandon Phillips), and aren't too hostile towards Reds fans. It's awesome to see the Brewers drawing like this. This type of attendance is spectacular for a small market club like the Crew.
  15. Thanks, I'll admit I thought the Canucks were finished after watching Luongo play in game 6. Yeah, I imagine Bieksa is an obnoxious player to watch against your team. It's funny how guys like that are "gritty, hard-nosed players" when they're on your team and "raging goons" when they play for the opponent. I'll admit I was a big Matt Cooke fan back when I was in middle school, and now I can't stand that raging goon. This season's Blackhawks were a hard team to really dislike, although the Wisconsinite in me does enjoy a Chicago club getting knocked out. Crawford was spectacular. Game seven was just a well played game all around and the kind of game you wish for in the playoffs. This team is good enough that so long as Luongo doesn't completely fall apart (like games 4-6) they should have a good chance to make it a long way. I'm still not optimistic.
  16. Yes, but it must be hard for a fielder to put down a tag while gazing into his flowing locks. Besides, the mullet never stopped Jaromir Jagr. http://ils.unc.edu/~everj/Mullet/pictures/jaromir.jpg
  17. Even George Kottaras could catch Leake red-handed. Actually, Leake has never been caught stealing on a baseball field.
  18. You're like that kid who tells everyone else the tooth fairy isn't real. Heck, I don't think there's anyone on here that would bet on Braun winning the Triple Crown. I'd probably have to be given 500 to 1 odds to put in a bet on it. That doesn't mean it's not worth talking about on an internet message board.
  19. 3-0 comebacks are rare, I believe it's only happened 3 times in NHL history, with one of those being last year. 3-1 comebacks are more common, I think the number of times that has occurred is 20-30, but it does seem to be happening more recently. Four game sevens, perhaps a fifth. This is why I love the NHL playoffs.
  20. He looks like a South Park pink-eye zombie. Oh, and Starlin Castro made three errors tonight. That's funny.
  21. I looked for this thread to pout in, but I couldn't find it last night. I'm about ready to concede Game 7. It was painful watching Luongo come into the game last night, I don't know if I've ever seen a goaltender so mentally shattered in the playoffs. Outside of the Canucks' failure, I'm enjoying the playoffs. It's comical how much more exciting the NHL playoffs are than the NBA playoffs.
  22. Kotsay's success against Arroyo almost certainly dates back to Arroyo's days with the Red Sox, if that gives you any indication of the time frame. Not to mention it's mostly from when Kotsay was actually good. Why can't Brandon Boggs be gritty?
  23. Thanks for the heads up on all that stuff, Game. Yeah, I mainly heard good things on the interwebs about Sexual Chocolate and their IIPA. I'm sure I'll try pretty much their entire line up during my time in NC. Expo stout for me tonight while I watch the NHL playoffs and listen to the Crew.
  24. Got a good chuckle at the Davies article. Jose Bautista hits baseballs very hard. Hitting .359/.506/.750/1.256 to start the year. Players Yuniesky Betancourt is out-WARring this year: Carl Crawford Raul Ibanez Mark Reynolds Nick Markakis Marlon Byrd Hanley Ramirez Okay, that's not a Yuni compliment from me, more just a reminder that even very good players can have a horrible month.
