  1. If I were Garza, I would be heated. You come in and pitch a great game and watch this garbage.
  2. well, hey the Cubs just scored 2 in the top of the 12th. Hopefully they can pull a game out vs the Reds.
  3. Well that sucks. Garza pitches a great game and our relief pitching gives it up in 1 AB.
  4. This is an awesome scout tip on Gameday David Buchanan may prefer to go after Jeff Bianchi, whose OPS is .367 this season, with the changeup rather than facing Carlos Gomez , whose OPS is .859 Really glad I know that
  5. Krush would love to have that one back. Gameday shows a belt high 91 mph fast ball.
  6. and can the Cubs win 1, just 1 in this 5 game series vs the Reds. Jeez. 5 game series and they may not win 1 game.
  7. Come on guys. Lets get this one going. And lets try and have one of those 1, 2, 3 first innings on defense. Haven't had a 0 frame on defense in the first inning since we won last Saturday.
  8. Yuni B 2013 .212 / .240 / .355 / .595 Jean Segura 2014 .232 / .266 / .313 / .580 Clearly, the value is in the fielding for Jean but wow, what a horrendous first half for Jean.
  9. I just drove from Milw to Cincy to Detroit to Cleveland and then back to Milw. I agree on the driving issues in WI. But in Indy, Ohio which consumed most of my driving, there are large signs that say slow drivers keep to the right. These signs are all over. And when you have 3 lanes, semi's are only allowed in the 2 right lanes. This has a huge impact.
  10. Huh? You mean the team with 2 players batting over .275? Their team ERA is 3.49 ours is 3.62. Both teams have 57 quality starts. What is with the negativity? The reds are not better than us. Sure in a 3 game stretch at their park, they have played slightly better but the scores have been 4-2, 1-0 and now 2-0 ... Yep - clearly better than us
  11. Bump ... What a game by Garza. Fun game to be at as the pitching was amazing. Garza was dealing. ERA 3.78 FIP 3.41
  12. So where does Matt Clark slide into? Is he going to AAA? ... Certainly some good numbers he has had in 1000+ AAA at-bats. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/07/greg-dobbs-outrighted-to-triple-a.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter http://m.bbref.com/m?p=XXminorsXXplayer.cgiQQid=clark-002mat

  14. I am assuming Fenway is on the list ...
  15. Gomez now in 2nd place. Braun in 5th. Ramirez in 1st place by 200k votes. Lucroy in 2nd place by 500k votes. Here is a brief update on mlb.com: The only difference since last week's update is how the top three outfielders shuffled. The trio remains the same -- the Dodgers' Yasiel Puig, the Pirates' Andrew McCutchen and the Brewers' Carlos Gomez -- but McCutchen (3,173,810 votes) moved from second to first, Gomez (3,169,748) from third to second and Puig (3,001,907) fell from first to third. Additionally, the Marlins' Giancarlo Stanton (2,681,019) and the Brewers' Ryan Braun (2,509,770) aren't far behind in the fourth and fifth spots, respectively. Beyond the outfield, the two close races are at third base and catcher, and a couple of Brewers are involved there, too. After climbing ahead of the Mets' David Wright (1,555,717) last week, Aramis Ramirez (1,790,777) still leads by a narrow margin. And Jonathan Lucroy (2,636,640) is closing in on Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina (3,100,939) heading into the homestretch.
  16. I will give credit when it is due ... way to pull a Roger Dorn and take one for the team Rickie. Come on Braun / Luc / GoGo - lets get some runs.
  17. Even if Weeks gets a hit here, it is just hard for me to get on board with pulling Gennett in a tight game. Even against a loogy. I want his D.
  18. We should have requested there be homerun limit like in a slow pitch softball game
  19. Blue Jays (Pos / AVG / OPS) 1. Jose Reyes SS (.264 / .732) 2. Melky Cabrera LF (.299 / .809) 3. Jose Bautista DH (.304 / .956) 4. Edwin Encarnacion 1B (.278 / .959) 5. Dioner Navarro C (.270 / .688) 6. Colby Rasmus CF (.226 / .750) 7. Juan Francisco 3B (.236 / .824) 8. Munenori Kawasaki 2B (.259 / .648) 9. Anthony Gose RF (.243 / .651) P. Drew Hutchison (4.00 ERA / 1.27 WHIP) Brewers 1. Ryan Joseph Gennett 2B 2. Ryan Joseph Braun RF 3. Jonathan Lucroy C 4. Carlos Gomez CF 5. Aramis Ramirez DH 6. Khris Davis LF 7. Lyle Overbay 1B 8. Mark Reynolds 3B 9. Jean Segura SS P. Marco Estrada I am excited for back to back days of day baseball! Today is Canada Day. And as a welcome back gift for Jose Bautista (Hamstring injury - was out for 10 days) we send Marco Estrada to the mound for him. How exciting ... Go Brewers!!! Another funny note is courtesy of the Brewers Twitter feed: Last time #Brewers visited Toronto (6/19/05), the starting first baseman was Lyle Overbay. Some things never change.
  20. Here is my two cents: 1. Kidd's first year had these players on his team: Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Deron Wiliams, Joe Johnson, Andrei Kirilenko, Jason Collins (yes that Jason Collins), among others. 2. Nets had 5 less wins this season vs the 2012-2013 season. 3. Kidd hasn't been a model citizen. Kidd was a winner though during his time in this league. And I guess our new owners think highly enough of him to do all this behind the GM's back. (That in itself is wrong and they should have told Hammond's what was going on) ... but whichever. I really see this going 1 of 2 ways. He will either succeed well with the young environment in Milwaukee or flame out and end up being a horrible decision. I don't see this ending up as just a mediocre decision. But I will say, I think his chance for succeeding his higher here in Milwaukee with the young nucleus vs him being a first year coach with all those veterans and not being able to navigate the season well.
  21. @AdamMcCalvy: This surprised me: #Brewers have better pinch-hit AVG (.223, 4th in NL) and OPS (4th, .634) than in '11 (5th, .222 & 6th, .619).
  22. My apologies RoCoBrewfan - I just read that as saying well his high OPS is due to him being a singles hitter and not a true power hitter so it doesn't count as much as someone who hits more doubles / HR's. I see what your saying though. If his singles goes down, thus his AVG would go down, ultimately impacting OPS. Clearly - that makes sense and my mistake.
  23. TLB - I think SoupTown is confusing haters with posters thinking he is nothing more than 1 side of a platoon. and there is a discussion there to be had. Clearly numbers are numbers. He wasn't amazing in the minors. But he was adequate against LHP. Majors (AB / AVG / SLG / OBP / OPS) RHP - 381 / 349 / .383 /.543 / .927 LHP - 70 / .143 / .167 / .157 / .324 Minors - Last full year of Minor Leagues (AA - 2012) RHP- 375 / .315 / .354 / .405 / .759 LHP - 158 / .241 / .271 / .335 / .607 I would venture to say as brewcrewdue80 says, his Major league vs LHP numbers are a product of facing a high majority of specialists. So I would agree (and I would say we probably all do, he is clearly better than a .324 OPS. Even his minor league numbers are not that bad.) It then brings us to going from a .759 OPS in the minors to a .927 in the majors. Clearly this is part the product of the platoon. As topper09er showed his numbers would go down if he faced more LHP. But the flip side is Funketown's argument that Braun has faced 25% LHP and Gennett 15%. So if you were to bump Gennett up 10% more, how much would it go down? I don't think that drastically - and a .800 OPS is probably semi accurate. (As some have said) Someone once posted that his high OPS is due to him being a "singles hitter" and racking up a lot of hits. I would say that is someone kind of being slightly a hater. Does one have to hit HR's to have a high OPS for it to be "counted." I would say no. (If I could find that post I would) ... so there is probably a little truth to there being "haters" where it kind of does seam like (for whatever reason) some posters are a slightly against giving him his due as they hold stats in a different regard than others. (Not that there is anything wrong with that - it just gives a certain impression. Just my two cents.) One thing we can all agree on - This season is a lot of fun especially when we can "argue" about how good a .927 OPS player is with 238 AB's this year. Update - "Singles hitter" post was in reference to what would happen if his singles decreased and not because he doesn't hit for HR power. So I stand corrected.
  24. Reflection time Will Smith has been amazing http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/smithwi04-pitch.shtml?mobile=false Baseball ref says arby eligible in 2016. Crazy steal.
  25. I think Scooter is squashing all doubt that he belongs. Here are some updated stats: @MikeVassallo13: Scooter Gennett leads the National League in batting average (.313), slugging percentage (.483) and OPS (.827) as a second baseman. #Brewers
