  1. I can only speak for myself, but that's 100% untrue for me. Imo you probably have to keep one of Bianchi or Herrera as a backup SS, but getting a sub-.600 OPS from the v.RHP half of a 1B platoon is a massive problem even if you have a 110-win true talent team. Overbay's a nice, classy guy & all, but he needs to go & go now. TLB - I am not saying a change isn't needed. Just implying that not only is there a black hole at 1B / 3B but we have other positions not living up to expectations. Last year Jean had a .800+ OPS at this point. If we had more people hitting then Gomez, Lucroy, Bruan and the 2b platoon, then the holes on this team wouldn't be so glaringly obvious. But since half of our lineup rarely gets on base, it is really spotlighting our offensive deficiencies. Better said, you can hide 1 or 2 inconsistent hitters (Jean and Khris) but not 4. To me, dumping Overbay for Morris is the most logical change to make.
  2. Is this supposed to be in blue? Send down Scooter? huh? Once again, I am shocked at the perception of Scooter.
  3. The tweets over Mallory Edens being on stage for the Bucks are pretty funny http://www.jsonline.com/blogs/sports/260044351.html And she picked up 30,000 twitter followers in 1 night. Nice work out of one of our owners 18 year old daughter
  4. The other reason that players likes Overbay / Bianchi / Herrara are being exposed / called out/ fans wanting replaced is the fact that your starting SS and starting LF have an ops of .619 and .641 respectively. We all know Jean is locked in and we just need to hope he breaks out of his slump. As for Khris, he will probably continue to get starts with the next to nothing production from 1B / 3B. Once Ramirez gets back and Morris / Reynolds are platooning 1B, then Davis might be put under a finer scope. But until we fix 1B / 3B, I don't see him loosing much playing time.
  5. I agree - great overview. Hunter Morris should be brought up today. I just don't see why he is in the minors. Overbay is done. Get it done Doug - bring him up. Herrera / Bianchi - Bring up someone. Green, Hermida or even Eugenio Velez. You gave Herrera a shot, he isn't getting it done - move on and have it be a revolving door until you find someone. Outrighting Herrera off of the 40 man would open a spot to bring up someone. This needs to happen today as well. As for Wang - He will be gone once Gorzelanny / Hendo come back up. I am pretty positive it isn't a matter of if, just a matter of when. Gorzo is being bumped to AA on his rehab so he should be back within a week. Nelson - I am all for bringing up Nelson if Yo has to hit the 15 day DL. Give Jimmy a few starts at the MLB level and then send him back when Yo comes off. I wouldn't even stretch out Thornburg or anyone else.
  6. The 4th pitch to Braun, 3rd and 5th to Weeks were located as balls on gameday.
  7. Either gameday is off or ump is being very generous on inside of plate
  8. I'll take it with the split squad team playing today ... Go Brewers!
  9. The Brewers lead the league with 16 CS in 44 chances. 36% CS isn't good. The only two teams worse than the Brewers are Boston who has 11 stolen bases and has been caught 11 times. (Ouch) and Seattle (11 CS and 16 SB for a 41% ratio on being thrown out) ... The Crew needs a little practice on the art of swipping bags or change their steal sign as I think even the scoreboard operator knows it.
  10. On the radio Ueck says Barney always hits the Brewers but when I look it up he is hitting .186 in 156 AB vs the Brewers. Even last year, he only hit .133 in 52 AB's. Maybe he is thinking of someone else?
  11. I 100% agree with this. I make it to more weekday day games than I do weekday night games (I have 3 kids) ... the day games are great and a huge reason I rarely make it to a Bucks game. I have been saying for years the Bucks should have atleast 1 weekday game in their 41 home games.
  12. I have gone to about 6 Cubs games over the past 6 years. I have driven to Skokie and taken the Hiawatha. I have taken the Hiawatha every time since the first time I took it. For me, I will have a few drinks so I would rather pay the $40 round trip and get dropped off close to my house. (I take the airport stop) On day games vs the Cubs - there are a lot of Brewers fans on the 8 am train and we always have a great time. The only semi-down side is, it takes you to union station. So you need to hop on the Red Line and go back up to Wrigley. (It's easy for me now but ask as the closest redline stop to Union is a few blocks away) All in all I enjoy the time on the train with friends and the time goes by quickly. It beats driving and parking hands down - IMO
  13. Rickie strikes out a lot but he is a pitch count wrecking ball
  14. Khris Davis is on deck per Tom H : @Haudricourt: Something up with #Brewers Ryan Braun also because Khris Davis is now in the on-deck circle in his spot.
  15. Hunter Morris 2014 140 / .290 AVG / .336 OBP / .489 SLG / .824 OPS / 5 HR / 7 BB / 4 Errors in 282 chances Morris vs LHP - 47 AB / .298 AVG / .313 OBP / .404 SLG / .717 OPS / 1 HR / 0 BB Morris vs RHP - 84 AB / .286 AVG / .348 OBP / .536 SLG / .884 OPS / 4 HR / 7 BB All Morris can do is just keep hitting - he will be brought up eventually. (Especially with Lyle's .699 OPS vs RHP)
  16. Do you have a link talking about this? I remember stories about him playing the infield with Prince in a little league touring team. I think he's played 2B his entire life. He is also no longer terrible at 2B. That may be part of why he doesn't want to move. He's worked really hard for many years to become adequate defensively. Maybe he doesn't want to put in more hard work to move. I can't find any defensive statistics from his time at Southern but here is an article that takes about where he is projected in MLB. http://www.baseballamerica.com/online/draft/weeks0304.html No one questions whether Weeks is a Division I player anymore, but scouts still have questions about his future position. He played roughly 20 games at shortstop his first two seasons for Southern but primarily has worked in center field, where his above-average speed and arm play well. However, Weeks doesn’t see himself in the outfield. "I always knew I had the talent to play the middle infield, and I think it’s just a matter of getting more repetitions," he says. "Whether it’s second base or shortstop, I know I have the ability to play middle infield well, and I’m glad coach Cador is going to play me at second base this season." Weeks started to make some believers of his infield abilities last summer, his second with Team USA. In 2001, he made the team based on his numbers and his tools, and the national team was in a developmental mode. He overcame the initial awe factor of playing with major college players by hitting .277-2-10, ranking fourth on the team in batting. In 2002, he was a veteran of the team and a leader, according to Team USA national team director Steve Cohen. When shortstop Dustin Pedroia (Arizona State) had to leave the team with a fractured orbital bone, Weeks moved in from the outfield to play second base, with Georgia Tech’s Eric Patterson moving over to short. "He was taking infield all year with us but playing in the outfield," Cohen says. "When Pedroia got hurt, the logical thing was to move Rickie to the infield. We had some questions when he struggled in the trials turning the double play, and that’s what made us play him in the outfield. "When he had to play second, though, the staff did a great job with him. Every time they took infield, every ball was live and had to go to second to turn two. It really helped, and Rickie is very teachable. He worked hard, and you could see his range improving and see him gaining more confidence."
  17. Can someone make a gif out of Herrera's throw from RF that he spiked about 10 feet in front of him? Maybe that is what Weeks is afraid of?
  18. Without a doubt. To me it honestly goes back to Yost refusing to try him at other positions when he was younger. Now at an older age, he has been bumped from starting and is next to useless as a backup who can only play 1 position. I am honestly pretty shocked by this. From him being such a "good teammate" to guys like Carlos Lee and Matt Stairs being able to man the position. This is pretty disappointing.
  19. Per @AdamMcCalvy: RR says #Brewers have asked Rickie Weeks whether he'd try LF. He declined. Details will be in the notebook. I am curious to what his problem is with trying out LF. It's pretty obvious he won't unseat Gennett and play 2nd base more than he has been
  20. Most are probably remembering last May - which went horrible. But I agree - different team and we can turn it around quickly.
  21. Here are the archives: http://milwaukee.brewers.mlb.com/multimedia/tp_archive.jsp?c_id=mil&ym=200809 Here is his Gem on the final game at Miller Park: http://m.mlb.com/mil/video/v3567520 I will be at the game on Sat and will definitely give him a standing O
  22. I am sure there are a bazillion boards to discuss the NFL draft but figured I would just create a topic for the BF.net community. I loosely follow draft coverage. Mostly just stuff I hear while trying to listen to Brewers coverage. After a quick google search to get some name spellings I am hearing the following names for the Packers at 21: 1. Mosley - LB - Alabama 2. Dix - S - Alabama 3. Pryor - S - Louisville 4. Hageman - DE - Minnesota 5. Amaro - TE - Texas Tech I do like draft time for all sports. It is always fun dreaming about what could be. Then looking back in 4 years and having that 20/20 vision. Whoever the Packers take, here is to hoping he is a success.
  23. I heard someone call in on 1250 and say how the Brewers "royaly" screwed up on JuanFran. One month in and here are the stat lines: Juan Francisco - 68 PA / 276 AVG / 368 OBP / 534 SLG / 902 OPS / 4 HRs .... 22 PO & 0 Errors Lyle Overbay - 71 PA/ 242 AVG/ 324 OBP / 323 SLG / 647 OPS / 1 HR .... 139 PO & 2 Errors Mark Reynolds - 101 PA/ 222 AVG/ 297 OBP/ 489 SLG/ 786 OPS / 7 HR .... 184 PO & 1 Errors Splits: Juan Francisco vs RHP - 50 PA / 341 AVG / 460 OBP / 634 SLG / 1.094 OPS / 3 HRs Lyle Overbay vs RHP - 60 PA/ 275 AVG/ 367 OBP / 373 SLG / 739 OPS / 1 HR Mark Reynolds vs LHP - 21 PA/ 278 AVG/ 381 OBP/ 611 SLG/ 992 OPS / 2 HR If Juan Fran started all the games and had been responsible for 323 PO, I highly doubt he would be sitting at 0 errors. On the flip side if he had same amount of changes as Lyle - would he have more than the 2 errors lyle has? Hitting, Juans splits are better than Lyles and Juan has started the year hot. So what say you, did the Brewers mess this one up?
  24. Give these hitters some red lights. These first pitch DP's are killing me
