  1. The Marlins have announced a multi-player trade with the Astros that will bring starter Jarred Cosart, shortstop Enrique Hernandez, and pitcher Francis Martes to Miami in exchange for third baseman Colin Moran, outfielder Jake Marisnick, outfielder Austin Wates, and the Marlins’ 2015 compensation pick. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/07/marlins-acquire-jarred-cosart.html
  2. Some huge power with this guy though 2012 - 10 HR's 2013 - 22 HR's 2014 - 33 HR's
  3. He has played some 1B and all the Yankee's send their way is catching / 1B prospect Peter O'Brien ... I see O'Brien was a 2nd round pick in 2012 but a career .266 .318 in A ball isn't really bringing it. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/07/yankees-acquire-martin-prado.html http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=obrien005pet
  4. That is what I thought when I looked up their numbers. Seems awfully low. Considering we gave up our top pitching prospect (Odorizzi), our everyday starting SS (Escobar), our top OF prospect (Cain) and a good reliever in Jeffress when we traded for Greinke. This seems like a very weak haul for Tampa.
  5. Austin Jackson will go to the Mariners, per a tweet from Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com, with Nick Franklin and Drew Smyly heading to Tampa, according to Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune
  6. Minor League followers ... how is this haul for the Rays?
  7. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/07/asdrubal-cabrera-traded-to-unknown-team.html He had been rumored to a few teams .. Switch hitter hitting: 246 .305 .386 .692
  8. I think we posted almost simultaneously. There's absolutely no way that Gerardo Parra starts over Khris Davis. No way. psssst ... RRR started Kotsay over Gomez in CF. Just saying.
  9. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/07/rays-expected-to-trade-david-price.html 1:33pm: The Cardinals may also still be involved on Price, per Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times (via Twitter). His source indicates that the Cards, along with the Tigers and Mariners, are the final possible suitors. I certainly hope the Cards do not get him. Wain, Lynn, Lackey, Price for not only this year but next year too? ... no, no, no and NO!
  10. Well said. I am a fan of the move. It definitely makes us better. Here are some good tweets: McCalvy - Gerardo has no idea where he'll fit into #Brewers OF mix, but he knows this: "The play hard and they play happy. I love that." Vassallo - Parra has 62 assists since 2009, trailing only Bautista (63) among OF. Jim Callis - With 96 minutes to go, OF Mitch Haniger leads the Best Prospect traded on deadline day race
  11. He has a canon: Especially vs Davis's soft tossing arm. Not only will he start vs tons of RHP he will replace Davis when the Brewers have the lead late. 2 gold gloves (2011 and 2013) ... this is a great trade. Good job Doug!
  12. Baseball Reference says 3 year arby is this next year. So he is a FA at end of 2015
  13. Parra's splits: VS RHP: .271 .304 .389 .693 VS LHP: .212 .309 .259 .568 Davis splits: vs RHP: .232 .288 .435 .723 vs LHP: .319 .357 .604 .962 I think we just found a platoon
  14. Yount19 just posted this in the trade rumors thread ... Is the deal for sure? viewtopic.php?p=909024#p909024
  15. Offense or Pitching - which did Doug want more of ....
  16. I 100% agree, my comment was more around it appeared on the surface they were giving up one of their key offensive pieces for more pitching. While they have plenty of guys with a high OBP, my view of Cespedes was he was higher on the food chain of AVG and SLG ... when after looking at it, he is really middle of the pack - and may not be a key piece of their offense anyhow. I certainly don't watch any A's games but I had this thought he was a better offensive player then what the stats show. Clearly I should have looked it up first.
  17. @BrewersHank: Allen Craig vs #Brewers this season. .375/.444/.813/1.257 3HR 7 RBIs, 26 total bases in 32ABs with 4BB. #BrewersKiller @Haudricourt @BrewersHank: Allen Craig's 2014 OPS vs NL Central opponents: .417 vs Cubs .490 vs Reds .459 vs Pitt 1.257 vs Mil #BrewersKiller #GoodRiddance
  18. True but to ignore 3 straight seasons of a .300+ Avg isn't easy Boston has made some great moves for these expiring contracts
  19. A's now traded Tommy Milone to the Twins for Sam Fuld. Yep, the same Fuld they cut earlier this year. They now traded a decent back of the rotation guy for a dude they cut earlier this year. That is amusing. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2014/07/twins-acquire-tommy-milone.html Updated link
  20. So who becomes the top 3 in the rotation in the playoffs for them? Lester, Gray, Samar? Kazmir is the #4 and gets 1 start in a 7 game series?
  21. Who has no hitting? The A's? They lead the AL in runs scored. That is true, because they draw a ton of walks and have a high on base %. Batting average wise they only have 3 starters hitting over .260. That is what I meant with no hitting. They have 399 walks this year where as the Brewers have 271.
  22. Is this even really a good move for this year? Trading a key component in your lineup? Seems a bit like a wash competitively. I really respect Billy Bean as a GM. Even though he is yet to get to or win the World Series, what he does with that payroll is amazing. However, I'm scratching my head at this one. Personally - I think it is a bad idea. They have absolutely no hitting on that team. And it just got worse. I don't see how this ends as a net positive for them.
  23. Through 2015. Baseball reference says: 2014 Contract Status: Signed, 4 yrs/$36M (12-15) (details) [*] Service Time (01/2014): 2.000, Arb Eligible: 2016, Free Agent: 2018 [*], Agents: Wasserman Media Group [*]
