  1. Some seem to be of the mindset that the only reason they're using the bullpen the way they are is because the starters are so bad. Outs are outs. It doesn't matter who gets them and how many they get, as long as they are gotten. The Brewers are still 4th in MLB in fewest runs allowed per game. They know what they are doing with their pitchers. People don't like what they Rays are doing with their staff either. They are 6th.
  2. 1 and 3-9 has been pretty bad lately. I’m confused. Are you saying Yelich, who is in the 3 hole, has been bad lately? Meant 4-9.
  3. I'd assume he'd go to the 60-day DL and open up a 40-man spot without being exposed to other teams. Most likely he is non-tendered in the off season and resigned to a minor league deal.
  4. They do report whether it was confirmed or upheld to the press box. The radio guys almost always mention it. They seldom do on TV.
  5. We have two compost piles in our garden. Been doing it for about 5 years. It's 95% yard waste and the rest is food scraps (vegetables, fruits, breads, coffee grounds, no meat). Every spring and fall I get very nice black dirt from it. Monday I started taking the un-decomposed stuff from the full pile and to start the new one. Never before have I had a smell issue with the piles but the middle of the old pile reeks of the most vile and disgusting smell. Depending in the wind you can actually smell it in other parts of the neighborhood. As I was digging it up I got to a solid 1 inch thick layer of wet leaves. Underneath was perfectly dry, brown grass from when I cleaned the lawn in spring. My only guess is that the wet leaves formed a seal and prevented any air from getting underneath so it's just been stagnant moisture sitting on the bottom for the last three months. It's been baking in the sun for 3 days now but it still stinks.
  6. I'd rather not trade for a SP hoping a change of scenery will make him useful in the middle of a pennant race. And while Drury may be an improvement over some guys he's not enough of an improvement to give up anything for. Trading for both or even one of those guys just seems like making a move to make a move.
  7. Because baseball is weird, I would put money on one of those teams not making the playoffs. Every year there is a team that totally collapses in the second half. Since the original post was made the Mariners are in free fall and only 1.5 games ahead of Oakland.
  8. Part of the problem. But it's mostly that hitters don't care if they strike out and pitchers routinely throwing 95+.
  9. He's still a member of the team. And I think it's awesome hes in the dugout supporting his team. Hes not the only one, Voght is almost always there too. Unless you're suspended, I don't think there's any rules about who can be in the dugout. I know you're only allowed so many uniformed coaches, though. Which is pointless because all these extra coaches are a few feet away in the clubhouse.
  10. [sarcasm]Conspiracy against the Brewers.[/sarcasm]
  11. Noticed it too and it's about time. If you're down by 6 or more after the 7th inning, your chance of winning is probably about .1%. If that. With BP pitchers so important now it's a waste of resources to throw one of them out there in a game where you have no chance of winning. I don't think we're that far away from teams starting to have a 25th man who is equal pitcher and hitter. Not great at either, but good enough to be used frequently in both roles. Really surprised Nick Ramirez hasn't been brought up for that role yet since he's probably as good a hitter as some of the 25th man crap we've ran out there recently.
  12. Doesn't throw hard and throws about 100 innings a year. Not really a guy you would expect to tear his UCL.
  13. Until I see reports that Orlando has actually made changes to his approach I could care less about his AAA stats. He needs to stay down until he's learned how to have a major league at bat. His glove would be nice to have back but his bat would just continue to hold back what is already a rather crappy offense.
  14. Remember when Broxton was arrested for getting in a fight while drunk (and maybe had a gun, I don't remember the specific details)? Or Gallardo got a DUI? I'm sure many don't. Yes, some people were outraged but neither was suspended or made national headlines. And both of these ADULTS caused or had the potential to cause seriously bodily harm to themselves and others. Hader posted some stupid, offensive words on Twitter when he was a stupid TEENAGER. Maybe he truly meant them then, maybe he didn't. Maybe he still feels that way, maybe he doesn't. Personally, I don't care either way and I'm sick of being told by the media and others that I need to be outraged and offended by every thing someone does or has done in their life. I can't wait for the news to break that when Hader was 8 years old he said that girls were gross and icky. Then we can add sexist to the list of his offenses.
  15. Has Arcia actually made any adjustments or is he just "lucking" his way into a couple good weeks? That's really what matters.
  16. Totally agree with this. All the crap human beings the Dallas Cowboys employ have done nothing to affect their popularity or attendance. You can say what you want about the results on the field but they continually sign players with legal/personal troubles and it has done nothing to their status as one of the most popular sports teams in the US.
  17. Seems like the Orioles got one actual prospect and a bunch of "meh" filler. Certainly no where near the return some were reporting. On the one hand I'm glad Stearns didn't try to best the offer, but on the other if he just sits on his hands again this year and allows this craptastic offense to waste away another season I'll be disappointed.
  18. Should that be the answer though? Not that we need to be mindful of our own character, but instead, our employer needs to pay somebody to hide our behavior from the public on our behalf? It's more for the team's behalf, not the player.
  19. I, for one, am ecstatic that there is another player on the Brewers that people will be choosing sides over and dead set on vehemently defending or condemning for the next few years. The Braun stuff was getting old.
  20. Could get any SS (Machado, Iglesias, Escobar) and then move Saladino to 2B. Solves two problems right there.
