I don't feel anything for any of those events.

I've had them for almost 20 years and I've looked at them twice - when I got them and just now when I found them cleaning. I really don't have any interest in keeping them and since my wife and I moved in together I've been trying to get rid of as much of my needless stuff as I can. I guess if they are totally worthless I might make some sort of display but right now it's just clutter.

Not really an investment question but a "money" question. I've some paper and coin currency that my step brother gave me years ago from his travels in the Navy in the 90's from various countries like the Philippines, Oman, and Saudi Arabia. I just want to get rid of it. I would guess some of it isn't even the current currency of some of these countries. Does anyone know where I could even find out if it's worth anything?

I pretty much never wear a baseball hat unless I'm playing or coaching a baseball game. But on the off chance I do wear a hat to a game it's a hat for a team I play or coach for. I have like 2 Brewers hats and I have no clue where they even are.

Not saying you're wrong but during one of the broadcasts this past week someone said that Davies was. It was probably Rock meaning it was almost certainly wrong but someone said it.

As others have stated, Pina has to pretty much be a lock to make the team just because he's out of options.

The games I've seen Bandy catch he looks like he has a cannon. Susac has been a notable prospect in his career but has never been given a real chance before. On the one hand I understand giving Susac regular at bats in AAA but Pina is an older, nobody journeyman catcher who somehow worked his way into being considered for an opening day roster spot. I think Bandy and Susac are clearly the better players but it's probably Bandy and Pina that head north.

I was actually going to post that too. If the Netherlands is able to field pretty much a whole team from their Caribbean islands then all the Puerto Ricans should be playing for the US.

He never really was a great hitter in the minors outside of one year in Huntsville. Even in that one year he had 3 great months to go along with 3 so-so months. You can say he was young for every level he's played at but that doesn't change the numbers he put up. I personally have never had any expectations for his hitting. Give me a .720 OPS with stellar defense for 6 years and then have some other team overpay for declining defense and a putrid bat.

Maybe he could hit in Colorado? He couldn't hit in Colorado Springs.

Apparently Joe Kelly said he had similar issues when he was traded to Boston. I remember Dice-K had issues with it too and eventually wound up having TJ after a previous career of good health, not that the Red Sox program was necessarily to blame for that.

Expecting anything from Lacey is a fool's errand - too out of shape, too injury prone. Hard pass on him. Use Rip as the power back, use Montgomery as the "feature" back, draft an actual running back to split with Montgomery this year and take over in 2018, and throw the ball 75% of the time.

I think my favorite part of the WBC is when guys come out of retirement to play for their country because they have no one better. Ryan Dempster and current Brewer scout Pete Orr playing for Canada for example. I think my least favorite part is when teams have "illegitimate" rosters like Italy and Israel where most of the team has never even set foot in the country they represent. I'm pretty sure if your last name ends in a vowel you're eligible to play for Italy.

Is anyone else getting a really crappy feed for WBC games on MLB.tv? Last night and tonight it keeps freezing and skipping around. Didn't happen at all when I was watching Spring Training games today.

Diaz certainly seems like a Melvin guy, hard thrower with not much else going for him. Stearns seems to like guys that can consistently throw strikes. I lean more towards the Stearns view of things so I would pass on him.

I just saw Arrival I liked it but I hated the ending it made me feel like watching Contact all over again. Well not as bad as that ending but pretty much the same feeling. I was more disappointed in the ending than anything else really. I haven't seen Arrival but I read the Wikipedia article about it and said to myself, so this a remake of Contact?

I have zero expectations for his hitting. He had one good year in the minors and followed it up with a poor year in Colorado Springs where he should have been able to put up some inflated numbers. His value is in his glove and if he can keep his OPS north of .700 he'll be worth holding on to through his team controlled years. But for the love of god Craig please never hit him higher than 7th.

The point was, as already stated, they asked him to make the change in season. Maddon's players learn positions in Spring Training, get trained and developed and are ready to go on Opening Day. Huge difference. If you think someone can go from being a college outfielder to eleven years later learning MLB on the fly, without a day of playing OF in between, you are severely underestimating the difficulty of playing MLB OF. They just shoved Perez out there in the middle of the season with only a smattering of winter league inning in the OF. Kris Bryant never played a position outside of 3B as a professional yet as a rookie he played all 3 OF spots and 1B. One thing that has always bothered me about MLB is players who refuse to TRY another position or management that refuses to TRY someone at a new position. Rickie Weeks refuses to try the OF, well that's ok because it would be too hard. Scooter Gennett wants to try other positions, he's terrible and wasting everyone's time. This isn't football where trying a DT at WR would be a failure. Catchers and some first basemen are the only ones who really have any business refusing to at least TRY another position.

Maybe, but to play where? 2B and 3B are pretty well spoken for for a couple years and Brett is older than all of those guys.

I don't mean to pick on you or on anyone else in particular, but because this "Weeks wasn't willing to help the team by playing outfield" meme has come up again, I want to note my respectful disagreement again. The team asked Weeks *during the season* (it was May 10, 2014) to play outfield for the first time in his professional career. That is a very, very different thing than asking a player to try to learn the position in the offseason and spring training. Asking a career 2b to just slap on an outfielder's glove during the season is idiotic -- how often does it happen? -- and I think Weeks was exactly right to say no. (The stupidity is compounded, especially in retrospect, by the fact that the team's reason for asking Weeks to play lf was that Khris Davis was struggling. "Hmmm. Our 26 year-old, high-strikeout, high-power left fielder with the great minor league batting resume is struggling a month into his first full season. What to do? I know! Let's ask our declining 2b to play a position tomorrow or next week that he's never played as a pro. That way we can tank both guys' confidence, stunt the young player's development, and get a bat that doesn't play at 2b into an offense-first lineup slot." Genius.) Maybe I'm wrong, and Weeks wasn't justified in refusing a flash audition in the outfield. Even so, (a) it would at least be a much easier transition to make in the offseason, making the two situations meaningfully different and thus making accusations of inconsistency suspect, and (b) I think a lot of players get more flexible once they've had to face the reality that they aren't starters anymore, and I don't think that's a blot on their character. Weeks was a CF in college, I understand you specified "pro" but he'd played there before and not really all that long ago. And I always hate the "hurt a guys confidence" argument. This is the big leagues you perform or you lose your job and if you lose your job you bust your ass to get it back not have a pity party. Take a look at any Joe Maddon team, guys play all over the place.

Rickie Weeks is playing 1B along with OF for the Rays. Many here shuttered at the thought of Weeks playing 1B. Amazing how quickly he went from preferring to sit on the bench instead of trying the OF to playing everywhere.
