  1. Snell may have 2 Cy Youngs but he's been no where near as good, as consistent, and done it as long as those others have. Just looking at Snell's career it's really interesting that he's pitched like a Hall of Famer in 2018 and 2023 and been kind of above average or worse the rest. To say those guys are comps isn't accurate.
  2. Scott is making millions (maybe billions?) of dollars off of the other deals he's gotten signed. That every offseason a couple guys get hung out to dry and get "less" than what they expected means nothing to him in the long run.
  3. The Steelers gave up basically nothing so the value is fine but I don't see what the plan is here. They are going to have to pay either Russ or Fields to keep them there for 2025. They've already named the guy very much at the downside/end of his career as the starter and the much younger guy the backup. Fields isn't seeing the field unless Wilsons gets hurt or sucks so he leaves in free agency for some team in desperate need of a starter and they're left with Russ running on fumes. I guess the two guys they have now are better than the several bad ones they had before.
  4. I'll believe it when I see it. Teams says this all the time and rarely do they stick with it. Maybe it's a committee for about a month but at some point they will chose a guy and stick with him.
  5. At least he didn't get drunk and punch a wall. I'm not concerned. By the time Devin comes back at least two random guys we've never heard of will be lights out and the bullpen didn't miss a beat. Same as every year.
  6. Where I work has one. Well, had. It's been broken for at least a year. We finally are close to replacing it and when I heard the cost it seemed like an awful lot to me. But people call all the time asking if it's been fixed so there certainly seems to be demand for it.
  7. Are there detailed descriptions of what any of our 50-some coaches do?
  8. Seems like he's assuming since Burnes was traded we're just burning it to the ground. Maybe one or both of those guys gets traded but there's zero smoke or fire here and Stark is just making stuff up.
  9. That's pretty much been the Brewers wheelhouse. Maybe the Hopkins and Sanchez signing means they've moved past these kinds of players.
  10. That could be option. Not my preferred option but it might work.
  11. Schitt's Creek was really good until it decided to turn into a quasi-drama focusing on romantic relationships. The last few seasons are just ok in my book.
  12. The fact that it took him this long to sign somewhere and it's back in Milwaukee tells me his shoulder is pretty much toast. That the Dodgers or Yankees or someone else with money to throw around didn't sign him already has to mean the medicals are bad, bad.
  13. I'm of the opinion that the vast majority of major leaguers could play any position adequately in a pinch outside of catcher. These guys are professional athletes who've been playing the game their whole lives. Of course there are exceptions like your non-athletes like Rowdy Telez and most lefthand throwers would struggle on the infield outside of 1B. It really bugs me when late in the game a manager refuses to pinch hit a superior hitter because OMG someone might have to play an unusual position for an inning or two. That particular at bat is almost certainly more important than the one defensive play that guy might have to make.
  14. I'm confused. Is this the uniforms the players are wearing or the stuff they're selling to fans? If it's the uniforms then this is a big problem. If it's the merchandise, then just don't buy it. It's overpriced no matter what the quality.
  15. Voit (back) to the Mets on a minors deal. I'm sure it's not out of the norm for a guy to sign a bunch of players that he had signed when he ran his old team but Stearns seems to be collecting a bunch of guys who did nothing in Milwaukee.
  16. Wasn't Andrews a bit of a darling around here? Now we're glad he's gone and surprised another team wanted him?
  17. I look forward to a couple of months of this being enforced maddeningly inconsistently.
  18. Winker only played DH last year and I wouldn't even have called him the primary DH. They've never had a "primary DH" before and I doubt they would go with Gary Sanchez as one if they did.
  19. He's only had 2 seasons like that his whole career. One was the super ball year and the other was last year - his contract year. Hitting in SF I doubt he puts up those numbers for even one season.
  20. I can't believe the Dodgers haven't signed him to a 2 year deal yet. That no team with money to burn has done it yet is interesting. Or concerning.
  21. Soler is so inconsistent there's no way you can give him multiple years. Factor in he's near the downside of his career and it just doesn't make sense.
  22. Remember all the furor about kneeling during the anthem in the NFL? Lots of people said they would boycott the league. I'm sure plenty did but no one noticed. When it comes down to it people aren't going to change their habits in any impactful way.
  23. I'd like to buy a domain address that links to a website that's already created. A baseball league I run has all our schedules, rosters, etc. on a larger site. The address to go straight to our site is long and I'd like to be able to tell people to go to www.baseballleague.com instead of bigsite.com/reallylongword/gobbledegook. Everywhere I look to buy a domain also includes hosting but I don't need hosting. I know I did this for my personal website I had a about 15 years ago but I can't figure it out now.
  24. That's why I said no one who matters. The people who make decisions don't care about the fans.
