  1. Yankees got Soto. Blue Jays (allegedly) get Ohtani. Orioles probably need to do something about their pitching now to keep up.
  2. Mets sign Jorge Lopez. Does Stearns realize he left Milwaukee? He's giving out major league contracts to 4A players like they're going out of style.
  3. I'm expecting absolutely nothing from him so he really can't disappoint me.
  4. Has to be as a reliever. Even if he is healthy all season you can't expect much more than 50-ish innings out of him.
  5. Short answer: No Long answer: Lol, no. If you want some sort of gimmick to make people care about the middle of the baseball season make it two halves and the top 2 teams from each half get a playoff spot.
  6. None, other than being blinded by their own fandom. I am willing to concede that certain QB's probably get roughing calls more than others though but that's about it.
  7. I'm not going to venture into the thread from last night's Packer game but reffing all over the league is terrible and inconsistent. There is no league wide conspiracy against your favorite team.
  8. At first glance I thought what a horrible trade for Seattle. Then when I read the details and looked into the players Seattle gave up I did a total 180. Kelenic has to turn into something or Atlanta just took on a load of cash for nothing.
  9. A long way to go in the offseason but so far Stearns with the Cohen credit card is no different than Stearns with his allowance from Mark. A lot of crappy bottom of the roster utility players and splurging on high risk, short term veterans.
  10. If you go back about 15 years ago, people pretty much stopped wearing watches because you had a cellphone to tell you what time it is. Nowadays, I feel like the only person that doesn't have a smartwatch.
  11. How dare this business not try to make money.
  12. Count me in the category of someone who doesn't like it. Another take, I'm just learning that mac and cheese is supposed to be a "traditional" thanksgiving food. Not once in my life have I had it at thanksgiving nor have I ever heard that before. I would like it though.
  13. I'm not sure why anyone would have. Dobbs lost a lot of games but put up some really good numbers with the Cards. Was rolling with the random UDFA they had really the smarter move?
  14. I'll get over it eventually but I would have a hard time with Schildt as manager. I never want to see any of that Cardinal Way crap in Milwaukee.
  15. I doubt it. No way they go back to the barley M as the primary logo.
  16. Murphy was brought in specifically by Counsell because they're BFF's. I can't see the Brewers seriously consider him for manager. I'm actually surprised he hasn't been named the Cubs bench coach yet.
  17. I don't see how this is any different then how they approach every offseason.
  18. More Kyle Lohse and Jeff Suppan signings are just what this team needs to put it over the top.
  19. It will be Matt Erickson and after 5 years of leading us to the playoffs and failing to live up to his promise of bringing a world series to Milwaukee he will sign with the Cardinals and surpass Counsell as the highest paid manager.
  20. Pirates opened up like 10 roster spots the last 24 hours.
  21. I guess I'm not old enough to understand what the fascination is about where the guy is buried.
  22. Mets are still the 3rd best team in that division. No amount of spending is going to put them past the Braves any time soon. Maybe they pull even with the Phillies with some additions. If the Marlins could ever get out of their own way they've got a nice team developing too. The Astros are world series contenders right now. There's nothing they need to do. Cleveland is very much like Milwaukee in that their division sucks and they're a well above average team that should compete for a division title for the next few years. There certainly are question marks about the Brewers going forward but without any other team in the division looking like they are ready to turn into a real contender, division titles are very much in play. Maybe in 4 or 5 years Stearns can turn the Mets into a powerhouse but why wait around that long when you've got 3 other teams that want you and are ready to compete now.
  23. On both of my teams last week I had to decide between Donta Foreman and Darrell Henderson as a starter. I went with Foreman for both teams and in both cases I would have won had I started Henderson. One team lost Cousins and there's nothing but crap QB's available. I'm watching my season's slowly circle down the drain.
  24. Sorry, but I still don't see any reason CC would want any part of the Mets when he has so many better options available to him. Milwaukee, Cleveland, Houston are all in a better position to be competitive for the next few years. I don't know how anyone can think Cohen is just going to spend his way to a great team when that's what he's done the last two years and it's failed. That's exactly what the Padres have tried to do and it's gotten them pretty much nothing. Lots of teams have tried that and it's almost always a failure.
  25. Clearly this is all just a ploy between Craig and Mark to get back at David for leaving them high and dry last offseason. Craig will take his interview and string the Mets along, dragging out negotiating his contract while feigning interest, only for him to stay with the Brewers. At this point every other manager candidate will have signed and the Mets will only have the dregs of major league coaches to chose from for their manager.
