  1. The exact reason I wait as long as possible to clean out my driveway. I also clean the street up to the curb about 20 feet up the road from my driveway so there's a place for the snow to go off the plow before it gets to my driveway. If you have a snowblower this isn't that much extra work. If you don't, you're kind of screwed.
  2. As long as some teams are run by/owned by idiots and other teams are run by smart people there will never be a "level" playing field.
  3. Mod edit: if you have a suggestion on how to better moderate the board feel free to PM a mod or Brock. Thanks.
  4. Fantasy sports and gambling are the reason the NFL is king. Plus the stuff that happens on the field is entertaining - big hits, big plays, surprising upsets, etc. Sorry, but what happens on an MLB field is boring 90% of the time. There are dozens of "great" defensive plays every night so none of them seem special. Upsets are never surprising. The #1 team can have their ace on the mound and lose to the worst team who throws a garbage journeyman and no one will bat an eye. There are over 2500 MLB games in a season compared to 285 in the NFL. Th vast majority of the MLB season is forgettable but because of how few games there are and that most of them are played on the same day of the week every week it's easy to make a big deal about them. And the reason for NFL parity is because there are only a few teams that have great QB's that practically guarantee a playoff berth and for the rest of the league, outside of the 2 or 3 worst teams, it comes down to which players and how many get hurt as to how their season will go. Making changes so that Ohtani could sign with Milwaukee is going to do nothing to increase fan interest or bring in more revenue to MLB.
  5. Can we just shut this place down until about mid-March? A few turds highjack every thread and have made it unbearable.
  6. I really hate the "Country Born In' and "1 Game at this position" additions. The position one is way too easy and the country one is way too hard.
  7. Finished the regular season as the highest scoring team in my league but wound up as the 4 seed due to record. Put up my second highest score of the year in the first round of the playoffs and lost. In the pointless 5/6 game this week I put up my highest score of the year and won. Despite the high score I would have even lost the semi's had I won last week. Fantasy football playoffs are more of a crapshoot than MLB.
  8. I haven't used the Sirius app since the update. I did open it and it visually looks terrible. Not looking forward to it now.
  9. I'm a little confused. This makes it seem like these rules are official but I've also seen that the players union voted against these. So are they being implemented in 2024 or not?
  10. You don't like it. You've made that point thousands of times. There's no reason to keep saying it over and over again. The fact is that this team has made the playoffs more than (and I'm pulling a number out of my butt here) 90% of the rest of the league. You might not like how they get to the playoff but they do it more than the vast majority of the rest of the league. If your be all end all is winning the world series then it sucks to be a fan of 29 teams every year.
  11. So they're doing the same thing they do every offseason that has resulted in making the playoffs 5 of the last 6 seasons. I suppose it's not as fun or sexy as acquiring names everyone knows but it certainly has been more effective. If it doesn't excite you as a fan then maybe you should start following the Padres. They're always doing something exciting.
  12. Round 1 of the playoffs. Between St. Brown, Puka, Chase, and David Montgomery I need to sit one of them. Really leaning toward Chase right now. He had one great game with Browning at QB but single digit points in the others. St. Brown is my other thought going against the Broncos DB's plus Laporta has really taken away his targets the last couple weeks and Goff just sucks right now. In theory, Montgomery should be in a great spot against the Broncos horrible run D but there's no guarantee that Gibbs could take over at any moment. Puka is a must start, right?
  13. The Dodgers are experts at using the IL to keep their pitchers relatively healthy. I'm sure Tyler they already have a plan to make sure he's healthy come October.
  14. Look forward to the name change to the Milwaukee Salumists.
  15. They already have Springer who needs to DH to stop getting hurt so Yelich would be an odd fit for them. Although they might just be ticked off at missing out on Ohtani and need to make a move to make up for it.
  16. Rich people don't find loopholes. They create them by buying politicians to make tax laws in their favor.
  17. Umm. Ok. I just don't understand why everyone is flipping their lid over this. Mostly just Dodger hatred probably. If he would have went to Toronto for $650 million everyone would have just been fine that?
  18. When have they before? And the players would never agree to anything that could surpress their earnings anyway.
  19. I really doubt it. None of them are coming close to signing top free agents anyway.
  20. Why would the players fight this? Ohtani is getting a larger contract than he would have if it wasn't deferred and the deferred money can be spent on other players right now. Why would the owners fight this? It saves them money in the long run. Everyone seems to be saying this is not good for competition. Neither or those groups care about MLB being competitive so they will do nothing about it. Most importantly, if the Brewers would have made this deal most of you would be praising Matt and Mark for how smart they are.
  21. I guess too bad so sad. Ohtani wanted to defer money to help the team. Were the Dodgers just supposed to say no?
  22. Then what's all the whining here about?
  23. Wait a minute, the guy chose deferred payments (i.e. taking less money) to help his team continue to sign talent and make the team better and we're holding it against him?
  24. So basically... Grr, those greedy owners hoarding their money and not spending it on players. (Ohtani signs for eleventy bajillion dollars) Grr, no player is worth that much and it's only going to make things more expensive for fans.
