  1. I got a job offer from Job A and accepted it last week. I also have an application out there for Job B at a place I've wanted to work at for almost 10 years. I haven't heard anything from Job B but I think I've got a good shot at it. I really wasn't all that interested in Job A until the interview when they basically they told me I could work whatever schedule I wanted and almost seemed to bend over backwards to get me to take it. My question is if Job B wants to interview me do I take it knowing full well probably the only way I would take the job would be if they offer me the same schedule? I don't want to waste their time but I also want them to know that I would love to work there but right now having that flexibly of schedule fits better with my family.
  2. I'm seeing 3 basic arguments made here: 1. This offense is terrible. 2. This offense could be good if some guys hit better. 3. This offense isn't that bad because some teams are worse. Nothing too inspiring here.
  3. Are the engines on Thomas the Tank Engine autonomous? Sometimes they do whatever they want and sometimes their driver controls them.
  4. Mauer's value was his offense as a catcher. Once he couldn't catch anymore with his declining hitting skills he was borderline 4A for a 1B but paid like a superstar. His was a really unique and unfortunate situation.
  5. As bad as Manfred is, I think letting BF.net run MLB would be an ever worse disaster.
  6. Suspensions that actually matter. You throw at a batter you sit for at least 20 games, if not more and the suspended player takes up an active roster spot the whole time. You instigate anything, ala Yadi every other week, you get suspended at least 10 games.
  7. Totally tone deaf things to say but the Reds spent money and "tried" and it failed miserably. Getting rid of their overpaid mediocre players is the first step in the right direction.
  8. I call eBay customer service once every couple months and the person I talk to is almost always overseas. They say sorry a lot during the conversation and I just assume it's a language thing. It's easier to just say sorry instead of trying to come up with a bunch of words that makes sense in a second language.
  9. I believe the league highly frowns upon "selling and buying" players from other teams which is essentially what you're describing. Even when players are traded for cash considerations it's an incredibly small amount of money (relatively speaking).
  10. I'm sorry but I have to agree with you. It really is something you just throw out there in conversation now with no actual remorse behind it. I haven't worked in customer service in close to 10 years but I remember when I did I would always say I'm sorry in the situations you describe because acknowledging a mistake, whether on my part or not, just seemed like it would make me look incapable or ignorant.
  11. I'm not surprised by a lack of professional pitchers from Wisconsin. Unless you go to State you're only going to pitch in a handful of games with a temperature or windchill above 40 during your high school career. Just terrible conditions to try to pitch in. And if you play for one of the high level traveling teams in the summer your arm's probably going to be shot from abuse by the time you get to college. And if you play college ball in Wisconsin you'll have the same weather to deal with along with competing for innings against all the guys your coach recruited from warm weather states who are much further developed.

  13. Concern for the offense is not based on the first 4 games, or last year's playoff dud, or last September's collapse. It has been what has held the team back the last few seasons and Stearns does little to address it every offseason. I'm not "freaking out" about it right now because it's about what I expected.
  14. That's some Cardinals level thinking from Willy. Let's also not forget about the Pirates constantly throwing at Braun for years after he "pimped" a game winning homer against them. I can't even remember the last time the Brewers threw at someone (maybe McClung against the Cardinals?) but teams sure love to throw at us.

  16. More likely he's Yadier Molina's replacement in St. Louis.

  18. CC rewards seems to be the biggest culprit. The CC companies have everyone bent over. They give people money for spending money and if the majority of people actually pay their bill on time the CC companies are gonna lose money. So they have to charge the businesses more to use their service and the business can't not use it because then they would lose customers. Which kind of goes back to my post from yesterday, remember when we were told to use cards for everything because checks were bad and business didn't like dealing with cash? Makes you wonder who was really behind all that.
  19. Same offense Stearns has put together for years. Hats off to Counsell for taking career journeymen and playing to their strengths to make them more than serviceable but outside of Yelich's couple year god-mode stretch the lineup hasn't had an impact bat during the whole DS tenure. The only Brewer baseball I watched this year was a half inning on opening day and I saw Cutch hit a leadoff double only to be stranded by 3 K's. I'm sure at the end of the year this team will be in contention for a playoff spot and probably make it and my interest will increase but it's just not at all enjoyable to watch until then.
  20. I'm pretty sure they always have but in the last 5 years or so it's become acceptable for businesses to pass those fees on to the customer. It was right after we were told for years that we should pay for everything with a card because it was more secure than a check and business didn't like dealing with cash.
  21. Is the team that just beat us 2 out 3 that much worse though?
  22. When I first heard that umps would explain calls I figured it would mean less plays overturned because umpires would now have to publicly admit and explain their mistakes.
  23. Adames is probably going to play 150+ games so he's got the best chance of the group. If all were given the same amount of PA's I'd say Renfroe.
  24. Even looking through box scores last year I saw some pretty putrid hitting players at DH all over the league. I think the game has changed so much over the last decade or so with so much value placed on young and athletic players that generally speaking the best hitting players on teams are also some of the better defensive options too. Which leaves veterans with league average-ish bats to take the DH spot.
  25. Goldent Tate had the same excuse for his PED suspension last year so there is precedence for this happening. Whether people are being 100% honest or not I can't say but it has happened before.
