  1. Colin Moran is an absolutely terrible hitter for a 1B/DH.
  2. Could Soto get more? Maybe, probably. But is an extra 20, 30, 40, 50 million dollars on top of 350 million going to make any difference in his life whatsoever? No. If he doesn't want to be a National than that's fine but players turning down more money than the entire combined lifetime earnings of some team's entire fanbase isn't going to win the hearts of many people.
  3. Speaking of guys switching companies, can't say I saw anything special about Keith Lee. Never saw him before but I guess he was a guy that fans loved in NXT and WWE dropped the ball with him. All he did was throw a guy around for 5 minutes and the only reason it looked good was because his opponent was athletic and weighs about 160 pounds. I don't think he did an actual wrestling move the whole match.
  4. Plenty of "off the field" reasons for Rodgers to want to go to Denver but is he really going to want to go to place where he would have to compete against Mahomes and Herbert just to make the playoffs? Maybe McDaniels can unlock Carr and make the AFC West by far the best QB'd division in football. Not to mention, if he makes the playoffs, he would most likely have to get past the Bills, Bengals, and/or Patriots. Even some of the secondary teams like the Colts and Titans aren't pushovers either. If Rodgers really only cares about winning a super bowl he needs to stay out of the AFC.
  5. One thing about the whole Cody situation is it seems somewhat sudden. Brandi just started an angle and yesterday AEW released a podcast with Cody. He seems like a real go-getter who's more interested in starting than sustaining. He helped start AEW and 3 years in it's time to move on and start something else so I don't see him going to WWE especially after the things he's said about the company since he left. Maybe he'll go to Ring of Honor and help them get going again.
  6. Cody Rhodes left AEW. It's assumed he's going back to WWE. Seems like a weird move for him if he does. He's also talked about not wanting to wrestle much longer so maybe he's retiring.
  7. The Rays lost Andrew Friedman and their front office gets raided every offseason. I'm confident the Brewers will be fine if and when Stearns leaves as well.
  8. It make sense that neither side is in a hurry. The owners have nearly empty stadiums in March and April and a good chunk of May and the players hate spring training and the 162 game season.
  9. Is Team Snowboardcross a real thing or just something they made up for the olympics? Seems like most of the winter sports that have been added the last few games are just taking a sport they already had and adding a minor twist to it.
  10. They were already not getting paid during spring training, same as every other player that's there. Their reasoning is stupid but this is being pushed like it's something the owners just decided today.
  11. I agree the reasoning is bull and it sucks but no players are paid in spring training. Joe Schmo 18 year old in rookie ball who'll never advance higher than A ball is being paid as much as his team's prize free agent who just signed for 9 figures.
  12. The rule change experiments are the only thing that I like about Manfred. MLB is very far from ideal baseball right now and the rules changes are needed to rein in the current state of the product. Unfortunately, given everything else we know about Manfred, there's no reason to trust that rule changes will be done in good faith. Everything else about the guy is disgusting. He is laser focused on making more short-term profits for the owners. I get that it's in his job description to do that, but he doesn't even try to reduce the collateral damage to the sport caused by the obsession with profit. Whenever he opens his mouth it only causes the schisms between the owners/players/fans/media to widen. He lacks even the tiniest bit of likability or charisma and there is zero reason to empathize with anything that he says or does. It's already clear that nothing is going to get resolved this lockout and we're going to basically return to the same state of baseball, except with all the problems from the last CBA being further magnified. Great. More money for the owners equals more money for the players, right? Maybe not immediately and maybe not proportionately but why else have player salaries skyrocketed with profits the last couple decades. If Manfred is doing things to maximize profits that's to the benefit of both the players and the owners, isn't it? And that's all everyone really wants - money - players and owners. They could care less about the game itself or what the fans want.
  13. Other than his rules changes to appeal to the ADD generation I don't feel one way or another about him.
  14. Unless something changed, I don't think the rules allow a player to be listed at two positions to start the game. Since DH is a position, Ohtani would have to be either the pitcher or the DH, not both. If he goes out as the pitcher the new pitcher would have to be substituted for the DH, thus losing the DH for that game if they wanted Ohtani to continue to bat. Yes, in MLB. High School allows it.
  15. The players want to make sure middle of the road 30+ year old free agents continue to get 8 figure multi year deals, not throw a couple extra hundred thousand dollars at guys with a couple years of service time who easily outperform them. None of this is about competitive balance or even playing field or whatever you want to call it from either side.
  16. What have the Angels been doing when Ohtani pitches? Can't imagine they use the DH. So we're going to have a pitcher batting for years yet. Totally disregard Ohtani and the Tweet is still incorrect because of the current DH rules as has been stated in this thread. Also, there will be pitchers that pinch hit every now and then for various reasons. I can guarantee Woodruff will get at least 1 PH appearance this year seeing as he's not any worse of a hitter than what the Brewers typically carry at the end of their bench.
  17. I don't know what a wordle is nor do I care to learn.
  18. This was his defense for him and his friends nearly killing a person.
  19. When the DH takes a defensive position the pitcher is inserted into the spot in the batting order of the player who comes out of the game and the DH is gone for the game. This has been happening somewhat frequently in AL games in late innings the last few years. Don't confuse this with the high school DH rule where the player being DH'd for can only be substituted for the DH. I also think that a couple years ago the high school DH rule was changed so that a player can be his own DH. To put it in MLB terms, Ohtani could be both the starting pitcher and DH so that when he was removed from pitching he could remain the DH.
  20. Nelson really cratered for the Rays last year and wasn't all that great with the Twins. If you look at his numbers they're really propped up by a few hot weeks. I had him on my fantasy team last year and I remember there were times I considered dropping him he was so bad. He's going to be 42 this year. Most likely he's done as a worthwhile DH. I don't want to the Brewers to sign him to find out.
  21. This whole coach hiring period was weird. Normally things to move pretty quickly but everything seemed dragged out. There were reports that a team hired a guy and then it turned out they didn't. Leftwhich was supposedly hired by the Jags and then like a week later it turns out he wasn't and had removed his name from consideration. Dan Quinn was interviewed by almost every team but decided to turn them all down. Jim Harbaugh was supposed to be the hand picked coach for the Raiders but he never even interviewed there. All of those things are really weird. Maybe teams knew something was coming from Brian Flores and that put a hold on everything.
  22. You could send your resume and cover letter to 10 hiring mangers and get 10 totally different opinions ranging from "it's horrible" to "when can you start". It's like trying to play a game but you don't know any of the rules.
  23. Hue Jackson now says he was never offered money to lose. I can't believe what was obviously a tongue in cheek Tweet became such a news story. Although I probably shouldn't be surprised.
  24. I've been doing a semi-serious job search since about October. I'm seeing lots of openings but I'd say 75% of them are manufacturing, retail/service, and health care - things I'm either not qualified for or not interested in. I do most of my searching on Indeed but our Chamber of Commerce website does have a good number of listings and I've found other chambers do a good job of that too. I look at the Wisconsin Job Center website every now and then but so much of what they have are postings from employment agencies that it's not worth my time. I've tried looking at jobs on LinkedIn but all I find are manager postings for retail and fast food places and then high level jobs for national corporations which I'll never get nor am I even qualified for. I'll confirm that Indeed is the best I've found.
  25. Who is your average fan that goes to a game? Is it a Brewerfan.net poster/diehard or is it the casual just going because it's something to do type? I haven't been to an MLB game in 5 years mainly because that's when our first kid was born and it's just too hard to make it work but there are certainly plenty of other reasons why. My last few years of going I could tell the crowd was mainly college kids who want to get drunk and families having a day out. Those two groups will continue to show up no matter what because they really don't care about what's happening on the field. And I think teams have realized that. New ballparks are built with the intent of trying to distract you from the fact that you're at a baseball game and older parks are constantly adding things to do the same. Just look at almost every Miller Park addition over the last decade.
