  1. Prepare for the forums to explode as Betancourt is announced as the Brewer's starting 1B for 2014.
  2. Unless Braun tanks the rest of his career, he will for sure. By the time he retires no one will care about his PED fiasco. Hoffman should be a no, but I could see it happening after he gets to the HOF just for the pub. If Fielder makes the HOF, I think there's a good chance he gets retired. I don't think either should, but I could see it happening.
  3. To be honest, this was one of the first things I thought of. I remembered someone wore 11 last year but couldn't remember who. He's only worn 11 with the Brewers so he might be open to other options. He wore 35 and 17 with Toronto and both of those numbers are free. He wore 37 in Pittsburgh and Arizona and that's free. He wore 27 with the Braves (which I don't even remember happening) but that's Gomez. And he had 55 with the Yankees last year but that's Marcus Hanel. Maybe he'd give it up for him like he did for Linebrink was it?
  4. Holliday hasn't forgiven Braun yet. When he does, then Cardinals fans will accept him.
  5. I agree there is no way that all 3 make the opening day roster, barring an injury to Ramirez. Overbay would certainly be released but Reynolds and Francisco may actually have some trade value. Nothing more than random, never will be minor leaguer, but trade value none the less.
  6. There's no way he lives up to that contract. I'm not saying he is going to be a bad pitcher, he's probably going to be very good, but not worth $22M a year. Aren't the scouts saying he's not as good as Darvish? Darvish isn't even a $22M a year pitcher. So much for the new posting system making an even playing field.
  7. He's old and not terribly good at any particular thing. He has a great chance to make the team since every year the Brewers need to have a guy like him.
  8. Finding out that he was tipping pitches might have helped a little bit but it wouldn't have helped him to find the strikezone.
  9. Dumb. Get rid of the challenges and just have a 5th umpire determine review or not. There are going to be a lot more mound meetings so that the coaches can go and watch replays in the clubhouse and it's going to slow the game down even more.
  10. If I remember correctly there seems to be a lot of space near where the Sox/Dodgers just built their complex. There's the mall, the arena, and U of Phoenix Stadium. Seemed like a nice area.
  11. About 8 mansions? That house must be ungodly out of place where ever it is.
  12. Meh, whatever. You can put lipstick on a pig...
  13. Ubaldo and Sanata are the only ones I believe. Garza does not because he was traded mid-season.
  14. Marco Estrada is a starting pitcher and a fine one at that. How long is it going to take before people accept that. How fine, you ask? He's Yovani Gallardo believe it or not, or better. Yo career: 3.73 ERA 1.307 WHIP 8.9 K/9 3.46 BB/9 .245 BAA Estrada career (as a starter): 3.94 ERA 1.128 WHIP 8.6 K/9 2.01 BB/9 .241 BAA
  15. It seems like it's been a rather slow offseason overall. Take a look at the players still available: Ubaldo Jimenez, Matt Garza, Ervin Santana, Bronson Arroyo, Stephen Drew, Paul Maholm, Kendrys Morales, Grant Balfour, Fernando Rodney... I'm not advocating the Brewers sign any of these guys nor am I saying they are great players but these are guys that in years past would have been signed by now and other than Balfour agreeing to a deal there hasn't been much chatter about any of these guys.
  16. Does the fact that Weeks played with Braun and Fielder, two players who more than lived up to their expectations, make us look at Weeks any differently? I think so. If those two don't exceed their superstar potential around Weeks I think we would look a little more favorably on him.
  17. Well the good news is he doesn't pitch for the Cardinals anymore. Even before he supposedly starting tipping his pitches his control was very erratic and that's what would do him in more often than not.
  18. Fonzie bobblehead.
  19. I understand some of that but what's with the trashcans in the OF at "Barves Field"?
  20. Ya, his defense has been bad but what kind of "finding certain stats" has to be done? During his peak he was always among the leaders in OPS and HR for second basemen.
  21. If they can do broadcasters and mascots I don't see why not. Minor league baseball teams do bobbles for people from other sports rather frequently too.
  22. Not even close. The guy actually made the majors, was an All-Star, and was one of the tops at his position for a few years. That's more than can be said for 95% of the other players to play for the Brewer organization.
  23. Haven't most Brewer fans tried to block out the 90's?
  24. 2015? 2014 is only 9 days old and we're already thinking about next year? The only 2015 movie I will get excited or care about is an Arrested Development movie. The rest look like sequels, comic book movies, and teeny movies. Eh, whatever.
