  1. Is Harold Reynolds real, or is he just a character someone plays on TV like Stephen Colbert? I can't believe how ignorant this guy is.
  2. Montero would be a very average first baseman offensively, that's why they were trying to keep him behind the plate.
  3. If they start sitting significantly I could see the MLBPA getting involved. They would probably view it as an attempt to suppress Jean's future salary by limiting his stats.
  4. Hypothetically let's say Braun comes out an admits that he failed his test last year because he was taking something but had never done it before and since and has passed every other test. What does this tell us about the effect steroids have? Braun's "roided" season was only slightly better than the rest of his career.
  5. Olt is Gamel at this point. There's some potential there but not worth another team giving up anything for.
  6. I was thinking about this recently. They have a great minor league system but his trades and signings have been bombs.
  7. If he's stays healthy, by the end of his career he should be top 15-20 in homeruns without any steroid allegations (so far). That alone should get anyone in.
  8. I have no idea when Nolasco became a must-have pitcher. He's having a decent year this year but otherwise he has been average to below average his whole career. Here is how his career stacks up against Gallardo. Nolasco 4.44 ERA 1.295 WHIP 94 ERA+ 9.6 H/9 2.1 BB/9 7.4 K/9 Gallardo 3.75 ERA 1.309 WHIP 109 ERA+ 8.3 H/9 3.5 BB/9 9.0 K/9 Gallardo exceeds him in all but 2 categories and Ricky has pitched his whole career in pitchers parks. Yo is 3 years younger and under contract for one more year than Ricky. If traded, Yovani should get much, much more than this in return.
  9. Maybe we could trade Yuni for his sister. She's probably a better baseball player than Yuni and she definitely looks better.
  10. And the over/under on how long he stays off the DL? One week? Two weeks? The all-star break is coming up, so I guess I'll go with two weeks.
  11. A flamed out former prospect and guy who, aside from parts of last season, can't find the plate? This trade was all about the international FA money. If Doug was offered this for Gallardo I hope he immediately hung up the phone.
  12. Yankees should be considered too. They need a first basemen with Tex out for the year, but probably so is Corey. They need a third baseman. They need an outfield upgrade over Vernon Wells. They could use a rotation upgrade over Hughes or Phelps. They're bullpen looks pretty good but I'm sure they wouldn't say no to including Axford, Rodriguez, or Henderson in a trade. Not sure what they have to offer though.
  13. Going on contact with the infield in is stupid. If it's through you score, if it's fielded you're out. Ron you are an idiot and should be canned.
  14. Considering Yuni is playing left field right now I bet they feel that he has "versatility" and will still be on the roster. Gindl back down maybe?
  15. Did everyone forget about this one already? K-Rod accepts Brewers' offer of abitration: http://www.jsonline.com/sports/brewers/heady-heady-heady-0l3brsn-135223778.html This happened before the rules changed last offseason.
  16. Machado. He's a short stop, only playing 3rd because of Hardy, which is harder to find than a CF like Trout. He's the second youngest of that group, only 3 months younger than Harper. I feel he's going to be a 30 homerun guy as all those doubles he's hitting this year start going out of the park.
  17. Let's see, as I recall, 1 DR. said his procedure would mean a full season of missed games. Another DR. says his different procedure could have him back in 4-6months time? Could the other DR have just been super shady and sold his procedure to Hart for business purposes knowing his timetable was way off? If we are talking an average person as the patient, yes, I could see that happening. But when the patient is a multi-million dollar athlete working for a 100+ million dollar organization, the Brewers are going to make sure that everything gets run by their own medical staff.
  18. Chad Gaudin just got hit in the throwing elbow with a line drive. Pitchers should probably wear elbow pads too.
  19. Pitching coaches should be teaching it and not for safety reasons but because it is very important to the delivery. The glove weighs more than the baseball and to maintain balance throughout the delivery the glove needs to be tucked close to the body to counteract the additional weight on the glove hand.
  20. K-Rod always had streaks of brilliance. Hopefully he can maintain this one long enough until someone calls about him.
  21. Interesting tidbit there that I bolded. If it is true that Braun's name can't be connect to PED's but still connected to the clinic, does MLB think they can really get away with suspending him? you should read this thread from the start, that has been debated some already in better detail than what i'll say. Tested positive or otherwise violates the program by use or possession of a performance enhancing drug will be subject to penalty. so they dont have to prove that he USED PED's, they just have to show that Braun, and his money records in question, are connected to possession of PED's. Your last sentence is the point I was trying to make. According to the report I posted Braun's name is only connected to owing money, not PED's. Yes, it would make sense that if he owes money to a guy selling PED's then he probably was buying, but Braun or his lawyer (can't remember which) has already said we paid him for consulting. If there is no evidence to connect Braun to buying PED's, only to owing money, then there shouldn't be any grounds for suspending him.

  23. He wasn't. Your glove shouldn't be hanging off to the side like his was. It should be at your chest or your arm pit.
  24. In New York, the parents of a kid that was killed while pitching (hit in the chest, not the head or face) sued the metal bat manufacturer. I'm not sure what the outcome was but I believe that using metal bats have been banned in youth leagues in either New York City or state. Metal bats are a huge problem but the switch to BBCOR from BESR has made a huge difference I think. I just finished my 6th year of coaching high school. With the old bats, there were kids where I was quite afraid of throwing BP to them, even with an L screen because of how quickly the ball comes off the bat. Now after two seasons of BBCOR, I haven't been worried about that at all. Those bats make a HUGE difference in speed of the ball.
  25. I was pretty young too but that was a different era. Offense was a lot lower and people didn't know that there were still two numbers at the end of a slash line.
