This might not be the place for this question but if a player is selected and returned during the season does he have to go on the teams 40-man and how does his ML time effect his service time?

I don't know anything about those prospects but does Houston have any clue what they are doing? The moves they have made over the last few seasons have just been treading water. At some point they need to blow up that team and get some prospects instead of acquiring mediocre talent.

On a one year deal Harden would give us 100 innings, maybe, this year. Then we need a pitcher next year. We have Wolf for three years which mean Doug doesn't have to go out and build a new rotation every offseason.

I like the signing but I'm praying this doesn't turn into another Suppan deal.

I gotta say that Detroit are the huge winners in this. They get a boatload of prospects/fringe players and save some cash by getting rid of Granderson. The Yankees made a typical Yankees trade of young, cheap players for an expensive veteran. The Diamondbacks...I'm guessing they never made it to the meetings and some impostors are running things because this may be the dumbest trade I have ever seen.

    Any chance we get Lindstrom?

I don't see the Mariners competing soon in that division so I hope Figgins is happy with a lot of losing and years with a lot of winning. He should put up some nice numbers in that park though since his power is non existent.

Trent Durrington? At long last, another Australian named Trent. If he makes the big league roster, the Brewers will have cornered the market on major leaguers from Australia named Trent.Actually they are the only major leaguers named Trent.

Seems like it has a lot of similarities to PETCO. I like it.

I'm rather meh about the signing but you gotta love the website. We finally have a catcher who is living in the limelight.

Not sure if payroll is an issue with them but maybe they are leaving some room for an extension for Lee and possibly bringing on another big contract like Halladay.

Book or packing tape definitely. I've "laminated" a lot of stuff using that method.

Zobrist did it playing 2B, SS and RF (also every other position except catcher). I'm not saying he was the MVP but that definitely has to increase his value more than VORP or position related stats can show.

I don't get all the hate for this episode. The comedy wasn't that great but it once again showed why Micheal is such a great person. He may not be the most sane or socially normal person but he cares about people more than business. The board of directors was there to tell the people we lost your money and we don't care. Michael regained order to the meeting and then tried to fix the problem but the BOD just wanted to move on. I'm guessing that DM is going to go under and Michael and Jim and possibly Andy and Dwight are going to buy the branch and continue possibly under The Michael Scott Paper Company.

Wasn't he suppose to be the starter until Varitek signed last year? I know Boston let him go because they have Martinez and Varitek but shouldn't we be questioning why they just cut him loose instead of trading him.

Isn't this why Adam Dunn said he wouldn't play in Milwaukee? I also seem to remember hearing that Miller Park had one of the best batter's eye in baseball.

How about we spend some of that money on Brett Myers. He will not be coming back to Philly and if I had to guess a contract he'd be looking in the 6-8 million area. Numbers last year weren't great but he was hurt. He could be looking for a one year deal to prove himself.

Has Brewerfan.net met a trade it likes? Even the C.C. trade was supposedly Doug's worst move ever.
  19. jerichoholicninja
Could the money saved be intended for a Fielder mega-extension?

I would guess this also means Lopez won't be back. Gomez will probably lead off.

I have a nephew who is a year younger than me. When I was 14 he called me uncle. That was the weirdest moment of my life. So I understand what the kids were going through.

    I definitely agree with this.

For me it has nothing to do with having the same teams in every year. Yes I hate seeing the Yankees, Red Sox, Angels and whatever random team from the AL Central make it but ultimately I just don't care. You play 162 games and then at the end of the year the best team is the one who wins 11 games first. Everything is different. It's not about depth anymore it's about who is best at the top. You only need 3 starting pitchers, 3 relievers, and unless you're in the NL 9 position players. In football and basketball the game doesn't change in the playoffs, the best teams almost always win in the end. In baseball it's all about who is playing best or has the most luck that wins it. I love baseball but the playoffs just don't get me excited. I watch more of the WBC and the Little League World Series than I do the MLB playoffs.

Erik Cordier pitched for Southern Door and was drafted by the Royals in 2004. Didn't really get anywhere with Kansas City and had Tommy John I believe. He was traded to Atlanta for Tony Pena Jr a few years ago and just finished the year at High A Myrtle Beach. Depending where you look he is considered a top 10 prospect for the Braves. My only interest in him is because I played a playoff game against him in high school. It was pretty neat to be at a game with plenty of scouts in attendance.
