  1. Most of his ground balls are to the pull side, but his balls in the air are well distributed including ~half his homers up the middle or opposite field. Source: https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/christian-yelich-592885?stats=career-r-visuals-mlb Seems to me he doesn't really turn on and drive inside pitches very often. His swing seems to be very much up the middle or the other way. Which is certainly odd for a guy who's hitting so many homeruns.
  2. I've felt that for about half the series. The only character that has really evolved has been Hailey and to a lesser extent Jay. But really that was just him accepting Mitch and only took about a season.
  3. Kendrys Morales keeps getting passed around the league. He won't get anything in return but there are teams out there that would take Thames.
  4. Maddon's a dolt but...Edwards was called on it in Spring Training and has changed how he pitches. So I kind of agree with what Joe did there. If you look at what Edwards was doing and what Doolittle was doing, it's night and day. Doolittle hovers and his toe barely even taps the dirt. It took me a couple of replays to even confirm that he did. What Edwards did was lift his leg, land fully on his leg and then throw. I agree they are different but if I'm Maddon I'm going to want to check every pitcher that does anything similar to what they called Edwards for. Especially since rules about pitching motion are pretty much never enforced.

  6. I thought the episode last week where they went through everyone's birthdays for the year was one of the best episodes in years. Ya, I thought the last episode was pretty good. And would have been perfect to end the series on. However, the show really has no direction. Haley and Dillon getting married and having kids is pretty much the only thing that happened this season. Every other character is doing nothing and going no where.
  7. Modern Family gets one more season. The last two season's finales were great episodes to end the series on. The show has really been spinning its wheels for a while, I can't imagine next year will be much better.
  8. Seems like everyone in Pittsburgh and sports media wanted the Pirates to do something because they were being cheap and not trying to win and all that blah blah. Well, they did. And it is very likely going to fail miserably and set the organization back a few years. I hope all those people are happy now.
  9. The Brewers.com article says that Nottingham is known for his defense. I've never heard of the writer of said article and I'm pretty sure he's never heard of Nottingham either.
  10. especially when they often make you wait 30-45 mins. My big question is why do I have to fill out the same background/health history paperwork every time. wouldn't my doctor already know if there has been any changes to my health history I suppose there is the possibility that you’ve received care from a different provider since the last time you visited your primary care provider. But to your point, I feel like every other visit, my primary care provider has a ‘new system’ and has to collect the same information I’ve already provided a dozen times. My wife is a PT and where she works she can see her patients' medical history as far back as their system goes, like 6 years or so. That means appointments, doctor's notes, prescriptions, etc. I would assume when you go see a doctor they have you answer all those questions because they don't have the time to look up every patients history beforehand.
  11. I'm sure fake injuries happen all the time. Holland is just upset he's being taken out of the rotation.
  12. I really don't the idea of clocks but the umpires should have the power to do something to somebody when the game comes to a halt. Call a ball, or a strike, or a balk or something to get someone to do something. My JV games this year are taking less than 2 hours to do 7 innings. And this is with all the crappy JV play involved. Walks, errors, kids not knowing how to play baseball, etc.
  13. No ... he wants to partially control which contender he gets dealt to. I'm sure that mainly he just wants to get paid to waive his no trade clause so he chose teams that would want to trade for him.
  14. If I'm the Cubs and I really want to beat the Brewers I make sure that Hendricks faces them. He's the type of pitcher that will just roll right through this offense. And Quintana's unexplained dominance of the Brewers notwithstanding, all three of those guys are rather average at this point in their careers.
  15. Dallas never has to work a day in his life again. If he's not absolutely in love with playing baseball and the grind of being a major leaguer, why not wait until you get what you want? I have no problem with these guys sitting out because no one's offering them what they want. His "principled stand" is giving guys who really want to play a shot at the majors, even if just for a handful of games.
  16. It's more pop or hip hop. When I'm in my wife's car and forced to listen to county music I can never really be sure if I'm listening to a country station or Top 40. Lyrically, it's all just really bad parody of what people make fun of country music for being.
  17. I agree the team has looked like crap all year but right now they are 1 game-ish out of a Wild Card spot. I really don't know how much worse they realistically could have played this season but yet they still have a top third record in the NL. I really can't see them reaching "sellers" level bad this season unless Yelich and Hader miss big chunks of time.
  18. Chris Hook's two-tone goatee. He looks like he should be the bass player for a metal cover band. It looks stupid.
  19. Is he blocking a younger better player at the moment? I really don't think so. The money's spent whether he's on the team or not. I guess I would rather take his current production with the chance he's going to put together some All Star level streaks here and there. The floor is probably about the same as anyone they would call up but there's a much higher ceiling with Braun.
  20. Never noticed that but I remember reading before the season started that MLB was going to make lineup announcements a standard amount of time before games for all teams because it was effecting betting or something like that. However, I've noticed no uniformity with lineup announcements this year.
  21. Do they make any movies anymore that are not based on a superheros, animation, or fantasy? My wife likes going to see movies in the theater. Any time we try to plan to do it we look at what's playing and it's all comic book movies, action movies, or kids animation so we really don't go to movies. The last few times there's actually been something playing we both want to see we are by far the youngest people in the theater and it's generally full of people about retirement age.
  22. I don't get the popularity of all these comic book movies. I've seen some of them and I've liked some of them but I just don't get it.
  23. He gets a lot of power out of that toothpick body of his. Looks like he's never touched a weight in his life.
  24. Better than just watching it go by I guess.
