  1. Thank you. This 100%. If we're going to start banning shifts then we might as well ban breaking balls or pitches over 95 MPH or any other part of the game that makes it more difficult to be successful at.
  2. Any way you slice it, to say the 2018 Brewers "can't hit" is hyperbole at its best. But it's the internet so I shouldn't expect any different. Fine, they could hit but couldn't score runs. Does that make you happy?
  3. But they did not hit in the postseason, which would be essential to them being in the World Series regardless of whether or not Corbin was here. And they were still middle of the pack in runs scored despite the OPS+ because they had 2-3 guys who could hit while the rest of the lineup stunk. Despite the nice slash rankings, they were barely above average in runs per game, and well below average until the Moose trade and Yelich hot streak. The offense was incredibly top heavy and consistently put out a lineup with 3 pitcher-level hitters.
  4. Previously underachieving pitcher has a career year that coincides with a contract year? Well, knock me over with a feather! Remember last year when there were rumors that Corbin was on the block, and that they had interest in Broxton or Santana? Part of my wonders if Corbin would have been dealt to the Brewers if Milwaukee might have a Word Series trophy. The 2018 Brewers with Patrick Corbin on the roster still can't hit. So, probably not.
  5. Because Patriots and it's fashionable to hate on them.
  6. Ya I have no idea what Seattle is trying to do here. Segura and Santana money-wise is close to a wash. In every other way though, Segura is head and shoulders above Santana. Then they are also throwing in 2, not great, but still major league quality arms to get a noodle bat middle infielder who's not even that good of a defensive player and has lost most of his prospect shine.
  7. I wish the NFL would just ban a guy for life or do nothing in this situation. These couple game suspensions are pointless and only for PR sake. The interesting thing about Hunt is that if he isn't claimed he becomes a free agent and will certainly winding up making much more than his current rookie deal if anyone signs him, which they probably will. Basically, there is no real punishment and he comes out richer in the end.
  8. Never understood how the West Coast of the US is "closer to home" for Asian players. It's a 12 hour flight from LA or 14 hour flight from NYC. Neither of those is in any way "close" to home. Maybe that's just the politically correct way of saying they want to play somewhere with a large Asian population. It has to do with home game start times. If a team is playing a 7 PM game on the west coast, that is noon in Toyko and it's easier for people in Japan to watch the game. That makes zero sense. Maybe even less. And a 7 PM East Coast start would 8 AM in Tokyo. Either way the game's played in the middle of the work day.
  9. So where does Schoop fall on the list of all time hated Brewers? 1. Sheffield 2. Yuni 3. Schoop?
  10. Kareem Hunt. That escalated quickly.
  11. Take a look at the players that didn't get tendered today. We're not talking all stars, but many 25 man roster quality players were released. Since these guys are generally younger and will be much cheaper than the other free agents it will interesting to see how much their presence gums things up for the over 30 crowd.
  12. This really seems like an "everyone loses" trade. If the Mets were on the brink of contention, maybe it makes sense, but they're not. If the Mariners weren't including Diaz and were essentially "buying" prospects by paying Cano's contract, maybe it makes sense, but they're not. Just seems like a big mess that doesn't really help either team that much.
  13. So why are the Cubs going to trade Russell? I know what he did or allegedly did but if he's not at risk of being banned for life what's the point of trading him? It's not like no one outside Chicago knows what's going on with him. If it's about taking a "moral stand" then you just release him.
  14. Never understood how the West Coast of the US is "closer to home" for Asian players. It's a 12 hour flight from LA or 14 hour flight from NYC. Neither of those is in any way "close" to home. 15. I guess since the Brewers don't run their own concession stands it shouldn't be a surprise that they don't run their own in-stadium store either.
  16. If I'm the Mets, I immediately flip Diaz for a bunch of prospects. But I'm not, so they will probably hold on to him or give him a ridiculous extension.
  17. Just happened to catch some of Jim Rome today for the first time in about 10 years. I used to listen to him in college when I was doing a lot of driving. Kind of liked him at the time but couldn't stand it now. Unless he's trying to be a parody of himself, I don't know how anyone could take it seriously. It's not even entertaining in a bad way. It's basically an audio internet comments section.
  18. Bumgarner has been ridden hard his whole career, especially during the Giants lengthy post season runs. His injuries the last couple years are flukey (ATV accident and hit with a linedrive) but he's already lost a couple MPH on his fastball and his K/9 has gone down over the last few seasons and he's not even 30 yet. I'm not giving up much of anything for him and with all the competition there will be for him it will defiantly take a couple good prospects.
  19. Ya. Guy's who have been bad pretty much their whole career and then have a career year at 34 generally don't repeat the good year again.
  20. I believe Boras is trying to sell the Brewers on a package deal that includes Harper, a bridge in New York, and some swampland in Florida.
  21. All off-season he would take up a spot. Once the season starts he would be put on the 60 day DL. No, the Brewers have shown they won't do that. Never said would or wouldn't. Simply pointing out what they are allowed to do.
  22. QTC would be similar to Dubon after his injury, if QTC was added by the Brewers he wouldn't be put on the 60 day DL but would still be taking up a precious 40 man spot all season. All off-season he would take up a spot. Once the season starts he would be put on the 60 day DL.
  23. Did they not do any focus groups about this name? If they did, they would have quickly learned that everyone is going to think of a certain adult device when they hear the name. Not that there's anything wrong with said device, but I doubt that's what they want to be associated with.
  24. The thought of Goldschmidt in the middle of that Cardinal lineup kind of makes me a little ill. I really hope that doesn't happen. He'll only be there one year and it will hurt the Cards farm system.
  25. Seems like every new minor league team logo is being done by the same company, Brandiose. And they all look exactly the same. I guess minor league organizations have figured out the best way to make money is to change your name every 5 years or so so you can sell more merchandise. Or do what the Trats just did and make minor changes to your logo and then make a big deal about it and push merchandise.
