  1. just curious, but technically could the Braun near homer (caught when Springer left the game) have been ruled a live ball? Springer came down with it and almost immediately took his glove off (with ball in it). I know it's an odd circumstance, but the caught ball wasn't shown to be secure in the glove before it came off. I'm thinking that if a glove is thrown at a ball and the ball lodges in the glove, it's not a catch. So perhaps this shouldn't be? Regardless, Brewers won and hope Springer isn't out long.
  2. Gindl got all of 151 major league AB's to prove himself and was a 0.2 WAR player. He didn't fail as much as he never really had a shot. By the way, Gindl's still playing in indy ball and can still hit. He slashed .297/.398/.519 with 20 HR and 83 RBI in the Atlantic League. I once though his only chance was to turn into the second coming of Matt Stairs. He never quite developed the power like Stairs who was way ahead of his time with his big upper cut swing. Interestingly, Gindl logged 14 innings as a pitcher this season, with a 6.43 ERA. He fanned 14, but walked 18. Thanks for looking that up! I loved following Gindl. He was competent in the field, could play all 3 spots, hit left-handed, had some power, and obp skills. I was bummed that he never was successful. You could be right, he just needed opportunity
  3. This ump was bad all game. Early in the game he kept missing strikes all over the zone, calling them balls. Later in the game he started calling ridiculous high strikes.
  4. I use Car2Go in Chicago. It's kinda like the borrowed car idea above but without the autonomous car part of it. Mercedes owns it so if you don't want a little smart car you can pay a little extra and get a Mercedes CLA. We use it for really big grocery runs, trips to the suburbs, etc. Otherwise we use mass transit or walk. In a way, Uber and Lyft are already acting as the "borrowed car" but you are also borrowing the driver. Would seem that Mercedes would be a bad candidate for a ride share program. My family’s BMWs and Mercedes are always in the shop with tons of expenses. My GMCs have almost never had issues, and even then they were covered.
  5. Everyone still think it would have been stupid to consider signing Brantley?
  6. I’ve read that the insurance companies are going to drive the push toward automated cars. Although I’m not sure why they would be needed anymore. I read a scary statistic last year where they asked people to assess their driving skill. Something like 80% of drivers feel they are better than average. Think about that.
  7. Also, with work in our Maryvale lab, perhaps Pomeranz is able to return to 17-game winning form.
  8. he can be. he won't be claimed. He'll make it through the Rule 5 draft. He'll be in San Antonio next year
  9. After Caleb Gindl failed to succeed in the majors, I haven't been on the Stokes bangwagon. I hope he works out, but I'm not optimistic
  10. Yes, me too. I was wondering about the context. Best of luck to JJ. I hope he gets fair value this time. I also hope once the Brewers settle their roster for 2019, that maybe they can bring him back for around $2-2.5 million. It’s shocking that some in the majors forum are acting like this is a typical year in his career. This is a fluke. He still throws hard. He just needs to hit the ground running next year
  11. JJ should be considered for a 2020 contract at around $2-3 million. He was dramatically underpaid the last two years. This move was to clear a 40-man spot right now, but it doesn’t mean he won’t be back. In fact, lots of teams should be after him for next year.
  12. I am looking forward to how he comes back in the spring after having a regular off-season.
  13. This was widely known weeks ago. Stearns gave interviews stating they were looking at mid-September at earliest. Brewers need to be careful with their ace.
  14. I'm watching TBS, as they have a Star Wars marathon on. It's amazing how much better the visual effects in Ep 4-6 were than 1-3.
  15. 100% correct! Just make sure Pina is his personal catcher! Pina will be the starter next year, and we'll be better for it. He has a history as a solid hitter. I swear most of his homers come in key moments. His defense is far superior, and salary is very manageable. I'd try to offer him a 3 year deal for about $10-12 million, with an option.
  16. If it turns out that something happened and drugs entered his body other than his own doing I'll apologize. 15 years around law enforcement will bet you that's not the case. Pretty sure that's not at all what he meant. More like, we have no clue how he got them. It could have been a doctor, he could have had access he shouldn't have had, he could've stolen them. It could have been a damn clubhouse attendant with a hook up. We have no idea. when my brother died of an overdose, my dad wanted to blame the person using with him or the person that sold it to him. But it was my brother. You use drugs for 25+ years, and you're playing Russian roulette every time. Especially since we know that neighborhood drug dealers care about quality control and stand behind the products they're peddling.
  17. Done forget that he pitched for the Andes and spent spring training in Phoenix. Not only are these drugs readily available, they’re dirt cheap and more readily available in Mexico. I knew someone that claimed to supply a lot of MLB’s supply of greenies, thanks to proximity to Mexico. This person didn’t feel they were doing anything wrong, and didn’t make any money on it. It was just a favor.
  18. McClanahan finishes above the Uecker line...unfortunately Jake Gatewood didn't.
  19. Abreu has to be the most unaccomplished prospect sent there by the Brewers since Alcides Escobar when he was an 18-year old A-ball kid. The Brewers must like him a lot
  20. For now they have Arcia, Spangenberg, and Perez. Isn’t that enough? Gennett is a huge offensive upgrade over Perez and Spangenberg. And yes, he could play SS occasionally. Would I want him there for 140 games? no. Could he play there once or twice a month without ruining the team, yes.
  21. Interesting to lump Grisham into that group. Let's see him perform for more than spot starts over 2 weeks before we do that.
  22. Can he play worse defense than Hiura? Let's face it, the Brewers offense needs improvement. Scooter brings offense. Rosters expand in a few days. I say bring him up and let CC figure out where to play him. Well, lets get specific. Gennett's OPS this year is .568 (small sample) and last year was .847. Even if you assume he would hit like last year, the only positions in the brewer's lineup where he would be a significant upgrade is CF and SS. If we are ignoring this years production and instead relying on last year, than I would rather have Cain in CF as when he is healthy he is likely able to produce similar to Gennett with superior defense. That leaves it to SS. Scooter has never played SS at any professional level. I dont believe his offense will be enough to compensate for his bad defense at SS. Hard pass Looking at only current year stats is incredibly short-sighted. That's why people have track-records you go on. That's why you give people chances. And yes, Cain should be in CF. Grisham has been nice at times, but he needs to make some adjustments.
  23. Can he play worse defense than Hiura? Let's face it, the Brewers offense needs improvement. Scooter brings offense. Rosters expand in a few days. I say bring him up and let CC figure out where to play him.
  24. I sure wish we'd have a monsoon. This is supposed to be our wet month, but we have had the least rain on record for a monsoon season.
  25. umm, the only person they missed out on was probably Wade Miley. Even then, there could be many reasons he wasn't back. Doug Melvin used to say that he wouldn't pursue someone that didn't want to be here. Maybe Wade wanted down south all along.
