  1. Meh. For the most part UW is winning handily the games they should win handily and losing the games they should lose. Flip the Maryland home and road results and pretty much everything else has gone to script. They've lost a couple winnable roadies (PSU, Marquette) but they've won a couple loseable roadies as well (Rutgers, MSU, Maryland). People expect that they will lose their last 3 and probably their last 5. They aren't very far away from hitting some shots and going on a run though, either. Perhaps it's a disappointing year, but only in light of how the team finished so strong and won the B1G last year. And Reuvers, I guess. Reuvers has been terrible and that wasn't expected at all. He was literally a much better player as a Sophomore.
  2. I like this kind of thinking...but Hader just seems made for the pen. Devin Williams, OTOH...
  3. I remember Yelich saying last summer about how he talked with Travis Shaw almost every day. I'd sign Shaw as a 26th man who never plays if it means Yelich hits like he did in '18 and '19.
  4. Still less insane than giving him a 6/200 or something like that which has been commonplace in his position for the last 20 years or so-- where all those possibilities still exist except there are no negotiations for new circumstances (injury).
  5. mmm, with another Cy Young, perhaps somebody gives him 6/200? Or perhaps somebody gives him the EXACT same deal he just signed? This is the first modern big money deal that maximizes upside and minimizes downside for BOTH the team and the player.
  6. It took 3 halves, but UW finally figured out how to play against PSU (It helps that PSU went ice cold, of course). First half was fine except for all the turnovers. 2nd half has been smooth. If Davis AND Wahl AND Reuvers and Potter (and Trice, Davison, and Ford....and Anderson) hit their open 3s UW shouldn't lose much. Ball movement, man movement, knock down the open 3....
  7. I wonder if the Brewers will just skip the RSN altogether and broadcast the games "themselves" thru some online streaming site? Whether that be YouTube or Facebook or their own independent app. This would stink for anybody without high speed internet or a smart TV but it would be pretty cutting edge for the industry I would think. There probably isn't enough time to get the sponsors necessary to make it work, but I'd imagine that is the future anyway.
  8. This is the best Brewer pitching staff I've ever seen.
  9. If nothing drastically changes before the season starts and Yelich doesn't bounce back in a big way, this is probably the worst lineup of position players and hitters in my lifetime.
  10. If we plan to do that, then just tell the fan base that is the deal... I think this team could be close to something special, but no 1B and no 3B 3 weeks away from spring traing is maddening. I don't view this team as it sits to be in teardown mode, but if that is what they are thinking, then just freaking do it already. Yelich would be wasted in that scenario, so maybe the smart thing to do is dump him too... I have never been on board with this line of thinking, but geez. Everything is contingent upon value. If the value is there (a la the Moose and Grandal signings a couple years ago) then I think Stearns and Attanasio will spend the money to "go for it." However, they aren't going to just say up front "We are going to spend, spend, spend no matter what." Similarly, if the value ISN'T there, I think they are comfortable saving their money for better deals next year--or adding contracts at the trade deadline that might become available. Similarly, maybe they will "tear it down" if they get blown away by an offer for Woodruff/Hiura/etc. But they aren't actively shopping those guys. This has been Stearns' MO the whole time. Spend money if the value is there and it makes sense, but don't spend recklessly (Turner is not getting a 3+ year contract).
  11. Love and a 3rd round pick to Houston. Rodgers to SF or LAR. Garappolo or Goff plus a 1st and 2nd rounder to Houston. Watson and JJ Watt to GB.
  12. Decent enough game tonight. MD missed a lot of shots, but UW didn't give them many easy, easy ones. Potter and Reuvers knocked down their deep shots, which really makes the offense run. Can't complain about a road win that covers the spread. That means it was a better game than expected.
  13. Ohio State is a good team, and UW played/shot poorly. Still, UW had a chance to win it in the last 4 minutes and oddly Trice bunked it up with a pair of missed FTs and a bad TO. Shoot better and it's a victory. Too many wide open bricks. On to the next one. This won't be UWs last loss of the year.
  14. I read this thread awhile ago but will bump it in honor of Philip Rivers' retirement. I kinda think the hall should enshrine Roethlisberger, Eli Manning and Rivers all in the same year...and that year should be the year after Brees, Brady and/or Rodgers are enshrined (depending how long Rodgers plays).
  15. Keep rollin'. Wahl and Davis showed up and played great, everybody else kinda "practiced" through the game. Had it been closer in the 2nd half I imagine that Trice would have taken over, but he didn't need to (as opposed to a certain all-time Big East scoring "champion"). It's a great sign when you can watch the whole game, go "meh" then look up and see that they beat the spread by almost 10 points. Still, I thought the "great D" they got credit for tonight was an equally inept Northwestern offense. Lots of missed bunnies and 3s by the Nerds in this one--but UWs offense wasn't a whole lot better and it wasn't a close game.
  16. You can argue that Scholarships SHOULD be 4/5 year commitments, but the fact of the matter is that they are NOT. They are year-to-year agreements. Pretty plain and simple. I don't have a big problem with basketball's system--at least in regards to draft eligibility. It finally blew up in the face of Kentucky this year, and it generally benefits developmental programs like Wisconsin.
  17. That was about as Badger of a win as a team could Badger. Road wins in the B1G--even in years w/o crowds--should never be taken for granted, particularly in a year where nearly every B1G team is a Tournament team. UW shot poorly on the road and gave up a ridiculous amount of offensive rebounds....and won against a decent team. It's not a coincidence that this "happens" to UW somewhat frequently. Defense wins championships.
  18. Well, yesterday that was certainly true. I'll say UW wins the rematch in Madison though.
  19. They are a middle of the road B10 team that can't match up athletically to high end athletic teams that play with effort and discipline. This has been the case going on 20+ years now... they'll be fine. Likely a top 4 finish in a loaded B1G and a great shot at another Sweet 16.
  20. Maryland beat UW and Indiana gave them all they could handle. There were frequent UW defensive lapses in both games, but neither Maryland nor Indiana are poor or even mediocre teams. Nebraska is the only dog in the league and they actually have a decent amount of run and jump talent.
  21. Well, many of the away games anyway used to be broadcast to many for free (other than the cost of a TV and electricity). It is absurd that If I lived anywhere in the world other than Wisconsin I would be able to watch Brewer games for what I consider an acceptable price.
  22. That might be the answer. Anybody use NORDVPN or one of those other IP Address "scramblers"? Is that less legal than using the sites that pirate/bootleg a feed?
  23. Last year, Kobe King was probably UWs best NBA prospect. If not for Davis, Nebraska probably has 2-3 guys who are better NBA prospects than anybody else on UWs roster. Nebraska will finish last in the B1G this year.
  24. Ford and Davis salvaged UWs first half. Just terrible shooting yet still hold the lead. It will be very disappointing if they do not eztend the kead quickly and cruise to an easy victory. Nebraska is just way too wild with no rebounding presence and no offense to speak of...just passing it around till a guy can go 1 on 1. Usually throwing up a wild/bad shot.
  25. They MIGHT have the MLB Network if you pick the right package but as of now they do not offer FSN, which means no Brewers/Bucks.
