  1. 12th come from behind victory tonight. Somehow the guys keep playing even after the IGT gives up.
  2. GM knows that if they don't do something this year, he's going to be out of a job. That team has been lesser than the sum of its parts for years. Very much like the Nats until last year... i'm glad there is baseball this summer. Even with a bad next 10 days the brewers could get hot in the last 2 weeks and make this season more fun than it has been, anyway. 10 of the last 16 against the Cards and 3 more against the Reds in that final stretch means that anything can happen.
  3. The 3 year deal to Lindblom is looking pretty bad. Luckily for Stearns he can probably ride out the rest of the year okay and hope he comes back better next year (at 34?!?!) and if he doesn't it's easier to eat 4.5M or so? And if he is pretty good it's not a bad deal? Struggling to find the upside here.
  4. Yep. Exactly how I feel. Phelps HAS BEEN slightly better the the guys we've got to replace him, but he certainly isn't anything special. Get younger and get whatever you can for him at his peak value right now and sign another guy like him in the offseason then trade that guy high to get younger....etc etc. etc.
  5. Where did I say I expected that? Still, I can't say I've been too excited by the production of guys like Andrew Susac and Phil Bickford. So I literally don't care where they were drafted. I will be disappointed if they are no-talent nothing players though, yes. I'll expect one or two of them to at least make appearance(s) on the Brewers top 30 prospects at some point, and i'll be happy if one of them ever makes the 25 man roster.
  6. Devin Williams was a 1st round draft back and Rasmussen was too before a physical discovered an injury. They are hardly "non-top prospects". Thus the "If." We don't know the return, but I would expect to get back pieces similar in value to how those guys were viewed at their lowest or at least low-end of their minor league value curve. Perhaps a Caden Lemons type(s), who despite being drafted high has never been a "top prospect". Anyway, it's kind of a silly discussion about semantics literally over PTBNLs.
  7. So a proven set up man for three or four pitchers who will amount to nothing. I hate this quantity over quality crap. Stearns could've got a hundred low level pitchers in the trade, but 100 x 0 is still zero. If Devin Williams and Drew Rasmussen were considered "low level" non-top prospect types 2-3 years ago, I'd be happy to keep trading for arms like that.
  8. Twins seem to have enough to get him too. Kiriloff and/or Larnach are exactly what the Brewers need. Balazovic and/or Duran is pretty good, and then some other filler. I wouldn't need to get Lewis. Give me multiple future major leaguers with upside and I'll be happy.
  9. Brett Lawrie for Shaun Marcum? I think that was 1 for 1 but that was like 10 years ago.
  10. I mean, between tonight, and keeping Maeda from throwing a no-no a couple weeks ago, Sogard has had about as much of an impact I gut with a sub-.500 OPS could possibly have. He hit a game winner in extras in Pittsburgh too. I'm no Sogard apologist, but he's a fine bench player. I thought Brock Holt had the better pedigree/history, but obviously the organization sees otherwise (unless Holt wanted to go home...)
  11. We are rebuilding, we are just doing it without selling. Narvaez and Urias are rebuilding pieces. With all of our young pitching we might as well try to win too. Even Stearns would tell you that last year was the WS roster and this year is a "transition" year-- aka rebuilding year.
  12. Why wouldn't they play? It's a lot easier to "boycott" aka postpone a game in a bubble than it is when teams are traveling. If they don't play tonight they will have to make it up down the road, which would be kind of ridiculous. Whatever.
  13. That website is sketchy. It cut Urias's value by roughly half minutes after he was dealt to the Brewers. It was trying to "correct" itself with the real world facts...which would have worked great if they just raised Grisham's value to that of/near Urias'. Instead they slashed Urias' value...and now that Grisham has had a good month they pumped up his value. So now it's all goofed up in the opposite direction that it used to be goofed up in.
  14. Bauer is due to get rocked. Brewers are due to rock somebody? May the regression/progression Gods smile upon this matchup...
  15. I've been optimistically patient for most of this year, but this series may be the breaking point for me. On the bright side, I've been broken about this same time of year each of the last 2 years only to be pleasantly surprised by the stretch run.
  16. I don't blame Cain for doing what is best for himself and his family, but the Brewers really miss him. He is a very stabilizing presence particularly in the OF, but also in the lineup, on the bases and in the clubhouse.
  17. Is there a drug that combats insanity, because I keep reading the the same posts over and over on IGTs. The ignore hammer finally came out last night. Exercise! Herbal tea, Melatonin, Xanax, Alcohol, nicotine, benedryl, CBD, Seroquel, Laudanum, Klonopin, haldol, codeine, Abilify, fentanyl, etc.
  18. Remember that nobody is forcing anybody to play. If any individual thinks it's not worth it they opt out and go do their thing where they think that are safer. Obviously, they don't get paid then, but that's life.
  19. You're certainly not alone in saying it was a weak apology...but what would have been a strong one? I actually thought...given what he said, his apology was a pretty solid one. Not that it'd change anything, but is there an apology you can make after that-that would be considered good? Well, if he brought his wife, children and boyfriend on camera for a live out-of-the-closet broadcast to celebrate his newfound freedom, all the while spewing prideful epithets from his dirty mouth about how he was now truly liberated for the first time in his life...jobless, family-less and still mostly rich...well...I'm not sure if that would be considered good, but would it be considered bad?
  20. Yelich still hasn't had a red-hot vintage Yelich type streak, but he's clearly out of his slump. He is slashing .294/.431/.686 in August for a cool OPS of 1.117.
  21. What a nice, relaxing win. Take tomorrow's game and that would be 5/7 roadies from the Cubs and Twins.
  22. I'm glad that it's a short season with expanded rosters for Knebel's situation. We can keep using him when it doesn't matter and just get him stronger and used to pitching again, and then hopefully he can come back strong next Spring. If it was a full season we'd have to decide how to roster him and if it was worth waiting for him to come around and what not.
  23. Just Rasmussen? Can't he go 3?....you know if he pitches well? That'd be great but I think I'd pull him after 2 good innings. Knebel needs more low leverage innings anyway.
