  1. I HATE that because I'm keeping an open mind and don't have enough information to make an informed decision one way or another some people think I'm a homer or living in denial. I don't know enough about anybody on this board other than my interpretations of the words they write. And Bruce, this isn't at all directed at you. I just read through this thread and see some people who several years ago would have been standing on the street corner, cheering OJ's white Bronco as it drove by. Conspiracy theories, information leaks, using the media to do dirty work, bending one's self into impossible yoga positions to create scenarios where Braun is innocent--or guilty. I'm willing to let the system play out, and to largely believe that someone is guilty or not guilty based on how they emerge from the process. All I'm saying is that it's possible that Braun did things that will result in a suspension. And even that statement causes some to get all frothy. I do agree that it's possible that Braun could've taken things he shouldn't have. But for the time being we don't know. And from a basic glance at what you've written it seemed that you were convinced that Braun was guilty. Of course, though, I haven't read very closely so I could be mistaken.
  2. If that works that would be good for the Brewers and all, but I would like to see some actual facts relating to Biogenesis and the likes. What really happened behind the scenes with Biogenesis and the players linked to it?
  3. Actually, I don't know and therefore I'm not jumping to any conclusions. I'm not claiming that Braun is innocent, and at the same time I'm not claiming that he's guilty either. Sure he failed a test, but the procedures for that particular tests were faulty. You can call it technicalities all you want, but there's a reason why the standards and procedures are there in the first place. Could he have had taken something? Possibly. But with the faulty procedure with the testing we will never clearly know. And just because there is an association to Bosche doesn't mean that he purchased PEDs from him either, and a scribble of a name on paper isn't solid proof IMO. Maybe Braun's defense team were trying to get more information about PEDs from the man who sells them. Who knows? No one is going to give us any details and speculation doesn't equate to fact.
  4. But the fact is, we will never know. We can speculate all we want but there's no way to prove that we're right. Just like how it's difficult to say that Braun is innocent, it's difficult to say that he's guilty. MLB will never let us know the details.
  5. Even if MLB wins in getting the suspensions, I see no way they win in this. It's just like war; in the end, no one wins.
  6. This just reeks of corruption. MLB is just incredibly paranoid about PEDs, to the point where this has turned into a witch hunt. At this rate the whole method might become almost Stalinist; any random fool would accuse a player of PEDs and the player would be gone automatically without a fair trial.
  7. Some top pitching prospects for current competing teams: D-Backs: Archie Bradley, Tyler Skaggs Giants: Kyle Crick Braves: J.R Graham Rangers: Martin Perez A's: Sonny Gray Indians: Trevor Bauer, Danny Salazar Red Sox: Matt Barnes, Allen Webster, Henry Owens Orioles: Eduardo Rodriguez
  8. According to a tweet by Adam McCalvy: "Melvin told Michael Hunt any further trade "is going to be for two or three years from now instead of now." Wow." Nice to see that Melvin's thinking about the future rather than just the present, but will Mark A. allow for any fire sale?
  9. So Phil Bickford is one of the top HS arms in this year's draft and is lauded for his excellent fastball. He's also projected to be selected from picks 15-20. If the Brewers hadn't signed Lohse as a desperation move they could've gotten a high-ceilinged arm for once.
  10. Or even better: They'll try desperately to make a quick fix so that if they can't sign a 34 year old guy that will lose them a draft pick, they'll draft a guy that's like Jungmann and they'll laud him about his ability to contribute to the majors quickly and his "feel" for the game, despite his lack of ceiling.
  11. A quality start from Jorge Lopez. Would like to see the walks come down but the progress he made from earlier in the season is encouraging.
  12. Interesting note on Magnifico. He sounds almost like Hellweg, being better as a starter than a reliever. Perhaps being a starter is in his future?
  13. You know, considering the state of the pitching staff, I'm wondering if the Brewers will attempt to draft another "high-floor quick-to-the-majors types" like when they drafted Jungmann.
  14. I'll give it my own random stab at the draft, but for the first three picks: #54- Carlos Salazar, RHP, Kerman HS (CA) #72- A.J Puk, LHP, Washington HS (IA) #90- A.J Vanegas, RHP, Stanford
  15. I have my doubts that Melvin will trade away anyone significant. This team can be 0-49 and Melvin would hesitate on trading guys like Ramirez or Lohse. I do have to give him credit for getting good value from the Greinke trade but who's to say that he'll be as successful this time around?
  16. The Brewers passed on a potential ace in Fernandez to draft a "sure thing" back of the rotation starter in Jungmann. Makes me wonder if the Brewers actually watch the pitchers they're about to draft.
  17. Also a very nice start for Jorge Lopez. From the looks of the box score he's been the definition of effectively wild. But the good thing is that he didn't get hit hard.... well he hasn't allowed a hit at all.
  18. Jorge Lopez's command is pretty erratic so far. 2 walks and a hit in the first inning, 32 pitches.
  19. That's what the Brewers were trying to do when they drafted Jungmann. At the time he was a strike-throwing guy, albeit with a little less impressive stuff. I'm still fuming about how they passed on Fernandez and Guerrieri.
  20. So apparently Lopez came out of the bullpen. I wonder why.
  21. 5 innings, 4 runs for Jorge Lopez. Not the best start but still progress from his previous two starts.
  22. Despite all the home runs he's giving up, the stuff seems to be pretty impressive from what I'm reading. He's only 20 years old so he has some time to improve.
  23. Is there going to be an international draft anytime soon?
