  1. What is Eric Lauer up to? I’d take his 2019 production in a second as a #5
  2. I mean they have 5 guys in the pen with an ERA over 6. It hasn't just been Lindblom. ERA is so old school though. I'm sure there's some advanced stat that says they aren't a steaming pile of crap. Damned if I know what it is... Going into today they were very middle of the road as a whole in both advanced and simple metrics
  3. Joey Gallo or JD Martinez if the Sox cool off
  4. I guess it makes a good story but its not like he was bartending, he was our #1 prospect and had 1 bad year
  5. I think if optioning Hiura gave him 1-2 weeks off but let us keep a fringe player we liked, we would do it
  6. Was browsing his batting metrics and it seems he’s basically just whiffing on strikes more often. He’s also getting a lot more sliders and less fastballs I guess. But overall not a plate discipline problem, it’s a contact problem.
  7. He didn’t really show it in the minors in 2018 and 2019, that’s why he’s behind guys like McKinney and Fisher, who had better MiLB numbers for different orgs. I hope he can make the most of his opportunities though.
  8. Fangraphs published their power rankings earlier today and put us at 17th. And that was probably a little generous, since if you just look at the numbers we probably should drop about 7 spots from that. Because: Starting pitching - great (top 5) Offense - Garbage (bottom 2) Relievers - Garbage (bottom 3)
  9. I want to complain about Jace Peterson but Robertson stinks too and Hiura can't play defense
  10. Well at least Keston is whiffing at 2B today and batting 5th
  11. Shaw has looked awesome in most at bats I watched this year
  12. I wouldn’t mind flipping at least 1 of them for prospects with 1 or 1.5 years left of team control
  13. He will 100% get sent down at this rate eventually. Only option right now though is to play him at least 50% of the time and hope he can work something out. Have to give him at least a month.
  14. I wonder if he will consider retirement after this year if he has a lot of injuries. It seems like a possibility after opting out last year.
  15. I feel like Gyorko definitely had MLB offers so he must have just wanted to coach/manage. Definitely adds context as to why we didn’t sign him.
  16. Clearly MLB execs didn’t consider him that valuable or someone would have bested the Crawford offer
  17. I hated when he was playing Arcia at 3B, but that’s a non issue now. We’ll see what he does with Hiura - platoon, demotion, dropped in the order, if his struggles continue.
  18. We have now sunk to dead last in the MLB for key team offense rankings such as WRC+ and WAR by the way
