  1. The Cubs already pretty much called themselves sellers. Its just a matter of getting the best deal and thinking about potentially offering a long term contract.
  2. Given the 1 day break I would think they did enough signability homework to have some confidence that they could sign their 11th round pick. If they can sign him it raises this draft for me a lot because it’s another guy in the top 20 prospect discussion.
  3. Zavier Warren is a good example of why I only have 1 of these guys sniffing the top 10. He was our 3rd round pick last year and hitting .266/.405/.578 so how do you put someone like Binelas ahead of him?
  4. Personally, I think you are undervaluing Frelick a bit - as I would clearly put him somewhere in our top 3 prospects. I'm guessing Black will slot somewhere in the 4-8 range on our list, and then I'd probably put Binelas somewhere in the 8-12 range in our system. No way, I'm ranking Binelas any lower than Lutz right now. I think he's really similar to David Hamilton and Hamilton is outside our top 10
  5. I guess I like this draft? Pick #1: Mild disappointment Picks 2-4: Great Picks 5-11: Nothing to see here Usually there is 1-2 guys in rounds 4-10 worth paying attention to but not so much this year. I think Fangraphs will rank Frelick as our #3 prospect, though I would probably put him in the 6-10 range at best. Black and Binelas can probably be in the 15-20 range, Russell Smith just outside top 20 and the rest definitely outside the top 30.
  6. I'm curious as to what end if that's the case. I don't think Frelick nor Black would have huge demands (although they wouldn't be that underslot either), so that would be 3 straight picks where we wouldn't exactly be ponying up that much. So either we're really looking for someone to fall from rounds 3 onward or we just have a type and that's polished college hitters and Ethan Small clones lmao I was curious myself. Was thinking Frelick would be at slot and Black probably at slot or maybe slightly over. Over slot picks after round 2-3 feel really useless to me personally.
  7. I don’t think the draft board fell very well for them. Hard to get excited about an OF with no power. Word is they probably move him to 2B, but it’s still an issue there.
  8. I do wonder if we are in a situation where To add a 3B, we need to send back Urias To add a 1B, we need to send back Hiura and no one wants him To add a CF, we need to send back Cain/JBJ and therefore a massive prospect haul
  9. There are a lot of reasons to look for SPs who could move to the bullpen. We’ve had success in the past, and this year there should be less concern of running out of gas at the end of the year I would think.
  10. I’ll admit I know Tellez because of fantasy baseball. He was a trendy add last year because of statcast and was a popular sleeper this year because of statcast and a good small sample in MLB last year. He had an awful start to the year (0 for 25 or something) and got demoted and fell off the radar. Anyway my point is people were buying a 2020 breakout supported by statcast and not 2017-2019 MiLB stats. Brewers probably had a lot more data but at least some similarity in their evaluation.
  11. He was also probably a roster squeeze to some extent due to Vlad at 1B and other options at DH
  12. Tellez immediately is the best 1B on the roster. I’d take him over Vogelbach, and he has team control. I was hoping for an impact bat, but Tellez is next best thing.
  13. This is part of Kirby’s path to becoming an ace reliever on the Dodgers
  14. I was just thinking, I don’t know why you bunt here, I hope someone is smarter than me
  15. Can you imagine trading Small for an 18 yo catcher in rookie ball? Really questionable ranking tbh. Seems like he was trying to make a statement.
  16. How are the Angels going to manage to miss the playoffs with Ohtani, Trout and even Walsh playing like an all star?
  17. Kind of interesting that Ray didn't make our latest top 42 prospect list so we can stop throwing him in hypothetical trades now
  18. It seems like young pitchers have been having a hard time lately. Spencer Howard and Matt Manning are some other top pitching prospects with big struggles.
  19. I don't know if I'm a believer long term honestly and I wonder if he's a trade candidate for a 1B with a low K rate or a 3B who can play defense. I'm rooting for him either way though.
  20. If you look at the season numbers that Hiura Bradley pitcher bottom of the lineup has to be the worst by a wide margin so I'm hopeful 1 or both of those guys can keep up some momentum
  21. Not related to the MLB but I can't remember a better year for our MiLB prospects in terms of top guys playing well in addition to lower rated guys potentially making big jumps in their stock. We were consensus bottom 5 system entering the year so I'll be interested to see where we end up in upcoming rankings. Mitchell, Turang, Small, Ashby are all looking like MLB locks Joe Gray Jr, Howell, Warren, Valerio, Hamilton, Olson are all going to climb in a big way Lutz and Feliciano are probably the only noteworthy drops, but Feliciano doesn't have that many ABs and Lutz was trending in that direction anyway
