  1. Best IGT title ever! I'm rooting for the Chiefs. Never met a dick from KC and I've met too many brie sucking champagne gurgling, entitled Niner fan's in my lifetime (spent 10 years in the bay area during their hayday and no, Packer fans don't own the patent on entitlement)...
  2. What were the major injuries for this team? I don't remember any other than Adams missing several games. Pretty much a dream year for injuries. Given that there wasn't a huge dropoff in talent due to injury what areas actually improved during the year? What evidence that any of the coaching staff should be retained? (I'm leaving MLF out of that question) But really, where is there a clear improvement that indicates that the coaching was good/exceptional. The problem is that they went 13-3 so there won't be any tough decisions made. Gute will address the talent, but will MLF evaluate whether he has the right guys in place on the coaching side?
  3. When Adams was hurt our offense looked the best of any time this season. There is talent at the WR spot. The issue is with how the offense is orchestrated with Adams. When Adams is on the field they just don't get the best form the talent. It's not his fault, there's room for a lot better performance from the OC/HC and QB utilizing the talent they have. Edit: Yes we need more talent at the WR level, but we also need to drastically improve in how we utilize the talent.
  4. A Mike Pettine defensive stop = Field Goal...
  5. They need to just leave Pettine in SF and tell him he's done. Find your own way home mike the poser...
  6. I could have swore that's what LaFleur said he wanted to do when he was hired. The fact they never seemed to try it is a story we may never understand for years. I said after the first game that Rodgers was the greatest impediment to this teams success and I think that's been born out. The offense is still a complete train wreck like last season and there's no indication Rodgers can/will adapt to any changes.
  7. If Dorsey doesn't get another GM job we need to bring him back to shore up the Draft/Scouting.
  8. As I said before and will repeat more emphatically: THERE IS NO data that has found a benefit to adding HGH to a person who already has normal levels of HGH.
  9. Obviously? I wouldn't go that far. To me, it is obviously a wire taped down. It doesn't even look debatable. For a necklace, it's too thin. The tape is skin tone, which would make sense, all the better to hide it. It isn't skin tone. It's gold. Look at some of the other photos. It is 100% obvious when you see the additional pics. Pretty solid evidence: Yeah the GIF on that link indicates it's gold confetti. The thin "wire" is a necklace he has on. you can see it moving around in the GIF when he removes the confetti.
  10. Everyone has HGH naturally. The main symptom for severe HGH deficiency is dwarfism. Having suboptimal levels can lead to being smaller than other kids of your age group. The "benefits" of HGH are linked to what benefits people who have a deficiency get when receiving supplements. Some of the memory/brain links have been found in older adults (who naturally have less HGH than younger individuals - we produce less as we age). THERE IS LITTLE TO NO data that has found a benefit to adding HGH to a person who already has normal levels of HGH. I doubt Trout would get any benefit as there are no real signs of a deficiency. If he has a thyroid issue and HGH is part of the treament, it is meant to supplement a deficiency. As I stated, their is a complete lack of evidence that adding more helps more. Some People believe that HGH supplementation works, but people will swear that a placebo is the real deal too... Anabolic steroids = plenty of data they do the intended. HGH = none.
  11. I believe MLB's official twitter account stated that there was no evidence of the buzzer/vibrating devices found during their investigation of the Astros.
  12. Trout is likely also using Gatorade, which will improve his performance more than HGH will. I wish the idiots who come up with this stuff actually spend a little time doing more than selfies and posting on social media. My advise to them: Those phones you use also have google... Learn something...
  13. I bet the clock is ticking on Mendoza. Teams were told in no uncertain terms to shut up about the ruling/situation. As an advisor to the Mets she represents them and the team could be in line for a pretty sizeable penalty by Manfred.
  14. He didn't deserve it, IMO. OPS+ of 103 in 2003, 80 in that 2004 season derailed by injury, and 112 in a part-time role in 2005. What adjective would you apply to a player who has 1000+ PA with the Brewers and puts up a ZERO yes, ZERO fWAR? (reminder to those who aren't familiar with WAR, a zero WAR means that any old has-been could be picked up off the free agent waiver wire and paid minimum wage and likely perform just as well).
  15. It's not the players fault that they suck. Helm's has a career fWAR of -0.2 in over 3000 PA. The rightful venting of anger by fans should have been to Yost/Melvin for giving so many PAs to replacement level players.
  16. Maybe MLB should embrace technology. Have the Catcher, Manager, Pitcher, and 1st/3rd base coaches with headsets to relay pitches/fielding and then there's no need for a complex set of signs that other teams can steal. Wait until the first team hacks into the robot umpires and widens the strike zones of their opponents and shrinks their batters zones... it's coming...
  17. I also agree that they got it mostly right. My issue is how they handled Beltran, I think they should have emphasized his role and taken a strike away from him so that the next violation would be a lifetime ban. That way they don't punish a player, but he does end up with a consequence (1 strike not 2).
  18. Logan Morrison seems to be spending a lot of time posting about things he knows nothing about. So in addition to the Dodgers and Yankees being suspect (He didn't play for either), he's now passing around rumors about the Astros, who were just investigated by MLB. Is LoMo a teenage girl? Maybe this detail from his fangraphs page is the key: Logan Morrison Age: 32 Bats/Throws: L/L 6' 3" / 245 1B/OF Birthdate: 8/25/1987 (32 y, 4 m, 19 d) Drafted: 2005 June Amateur Draft - Round: 22, Pick: 16, Overall: 666, Team: Florida Marlins
  19. The Smartest Guys in the Room II Glad Luhnow is joining his buddy Taubman in the unemployment line. Couldn't happen to a nicer dick... Am I the only one that thinks that Jim Crane looks like a funeral director?
  20. So slightly better than Scooter?
  21. Dorsey is out. "Mutual parting" that sounds like Dorsey was tired of the Haslam's interference. [sarcasm]I guess when you have a history as solid as Jimmy Haslam, why listen to your GM.[/sarcasm] I mean, it's not like Dorsey turned a craptastic franchise into a super bowl team in 3 years, so who needs that. Let's just get another GM... Brown's have the Jeffrey Luria of NFL owners...
  22. The benefit the White Sox had coming in was a large number of young cost controlled players which gave them significant money to invest in free agency and through trades. I wonder if the additions are that significant enough to move the needle? Grandal signing was definitely a needle mover. The Mazara trade is pretty underwhelming as he has been a pretty consistent *meh*, Keuchel is probably the 2.5 WAR pitcher that steamer projects, but I think the days of upside are gone and you're just going to get 2-2.5 WAR from him this year and maybe next. Not a huge needle mover. If the youth keep progressing, if Mazara figures something out, and Grandal and Keuchel play to expectations, sure with luck the White Sox could be in the AL Central hunt, but there's still some room for regression candidates and performance gaps for the new additions plus Abreu's aging to make this a 500 team.
  23. The definition now is based on the height. I don't imagine it will change. I'd guess part of the process is setting a relevant strike zone as each batter gets set. So how big is a baseball strike zone compared to a tennis court? I'd say at least 1/400th the size.... balls are about the same size... so there's 3 challenges in tennis because there are so few chances for a ball to strike near a boundary line. So what would be the baseball equivalent? 1000 challenges per team per game? So way more than pitches occur... I'm guessing the difference in area makes it impossible to have some form of intermediate approach in baseball. What will be interesting is to see how hitters and pitchers adjust as there's no need for a batter to swing at a close ball if it's still out of the strike zone since there's little chance a robot will give the pitcher the benefit of the doubt. nibblers who sit around the strike zone may have a harder time. Players with good strike zone recognition will become more valuable. This will definitely bring some big changes to the game.
  24. Especially when you consider so much of the seating at Miller Park still gives you great views of the field. I've only been to MP a few times, but I've walked around the entire stadium looking at perspective from each part and the sitelines are great. So there's no reason you can't economize in the lower priced seats. Being in LA I've been to a few games at Dodger stadium. Behind home-plate boxes was great, 1st base in the less expensive seats less great, upper deck - no comparison to the worst seat in Miller Park. Sure Dodger Stadium is pretty old. The point is not that Dodger stadium is old, but that Miller Park was designed to have great viewing from almost every location. Take advantage of that and save money by choosing the cheaper seats.
