  1. I get the principal idea of not wanting to give money to help build a sports stadium for very wealthy owners, but the reality of the situation is that's what you do or you lose your team. Milwaukee is not a LA or NY or CHI where sports leagues are desperate to be in those markets. We could be principled and turn into a Louisville, Albuquerque, or Omaha or we can enjoy things like an NBA championship, getting to root for players like Giannis, get excited for prospects like Jackson Chourio, etc. This isn't an ideal situation but the ideal situation doesn't exist.
  2. Say what you want but I'm happy the Brewers will seemingly be sticking around in Wisconsin for the foreseeable future
  3. We talk every year about how any team in the postseason can get hot at the right time and make a deep run. It seems that the 84 win Arizona Diamondbacks are that team this year
  4. Ryan on MKE Tailgate made what I thought was an excellent point today regarding the lack of an entertainment district in the proposal. It's almost certainly not the Brewers who are against it as they would stand to make boatloads of cash like the owners of the Bucks, Braves, Cardinals, etc. all do in similar situations. But that it would be a terrible look politically in what would essentially amount to the Brewers taking tons of money away from the bars that shuttle to the stadium and instead pocketing it for themselves.
  5. I think hiring smart people is much more important than the actual payroll number. Give me a well run team with the 20th ranked payroll over a poorly run team with the 10th ranked payroll
  6. Strzelecki's ERA was 4.54 when he got sent down this year
  7. Strzelecki to Arizona
  8. Why is Arizona dealing a reliever when they are contending?
  9. Which is sort of the point. Of the guys you listed only Turang at this point projects to get significant ABs. Everyone else is off the roster or in Perkins case lower down the depth chart. So for the next few months the offense shouldn't nearly has many black holes as before
  10. The Brewers 1b this season before the Santana trade had been worth -1.7 WAR, Santana at that point had been worth 1.0 WAR. The same sentiment rings true for Canha at either DH or RF. Winker this year was worth -0.7 offensive WAR, Canha was worth 0.9 offensive WAR. So between Canha & Santana you're looking at about 4 extra wins this year which would sure be nice right now
  11. This is very similar to the Santana deal. Gave up a lower tier prospect to go from terrible to average at a spot which is fine. If we can go back to having a lineup full of averagish hitters 1-8 then we might be able to make some noise. It's nothing special but it'll help
  12. Brad Nelson & Taylor Green were never top 100 guys
  13. Arnold mentioned they were having trouble with the travel arrangements after Pittsburgh flew in super early Thursday morning. Then when Santana was asked he said he'd be with the team on Saturday
  14. He's reportedly not joining the team until tomorrow so he won't be playing tonight.
  15. A lineup of LF Yelich 1b Santana C Contreras SS Adames DH (insert reasonable trade target) RF Frelick/Wiemer CF Chourio 3b Urias/Monasterio/BA 2b Turang/Monasterio Looks pretty solid and very strong defensively
  16. Worth noting this should help both the offense & defense. Santana is an elite defensive 1b
  17. It's fine. Santana has been roughly league average this year which is better than what we've gotten out of 1b
  18. Jesse Winker has an OPS+ this year of 60. I think replacing that with anyone who can be average to slightly above average alone is "needle moving". Same thing at 1st where Rowdy & Owen Miller have an OPS+ in the 80s this season and have also provided weak defense. 1st & DH seem like the most obvious spots to improve the lineup to me
  19. My apologies, my initial response was to someone stating Teoscar Hernandez was the only needle moving bat on the market which was my main point of disagreement.
  20. Candelario could also DH while getting plenty of starts at 1st or 3rd. I guess my main question to you is why is Teoscar a needle moving bat but Candelario isn't?
  21. A .014 xwOBA difference hardly changes my opinion. That isn't so drastic to make me think Teoscar is the only "needle moving" bat available and in fact I'd still prefer Candelario although I'd be fine with Hernandez. I just see OF as less of a need than 1b/3b/DH
  22. Teoscar Hernandez has an OPS+ of 97. Give me Candelario all day over him.
