  1. It’s scary how dominant he’s been. One of the all-time biggest Brewer-killers.
  2. Maybe they should’ve waited to trade Feyereisen and Rasmussen until after today’s game.
  3. His throwing errors have been when he’s taken his time and made what should be an easy throw across the diamond. Nearly every play where he’s had to rush he’s ended up making a perfect throw. Counsell mentioned he believes it’s more a mental issue than a physical issue, and I agree with that assessment. Claiming he has a lack of arm strength is simply a false narrative.
  4. Agree completely Literally every one of his throwing errors this year has been an overthrow. There are plenty of negative things that can be said about Urias, but it surprises me that anyone who has watched him play can believe he has some peashooter for an arm.
  5. Wong taking a beating tonight. Surprised he’s remained in the game, he looks like he’s in a lot of pain. EDIT: Wong out of the game now. The Brewers may have just temporarily solved their excess of middle infielders. Hopefully Wong ends up alright.
  6. I believe they’re short two in the bullpen tonight. Sounds like the new guys will be in Cincinnati for tomorrow’s game.
  7. Per Adam McCalvy: Willy Adames will wear No. 27 with the Brewers. He says he was just talking to Carlos Gomez today and said he would wear it in Milwaukee with pride.
  8. It’s sort of similar to the Yelich acquisition from the standpoint it appeared likely the previous home park had held back some of his production.
  9. ZiPS ROS wRC+ for the guys most likely pushed aside by this move... Pablo Reyes: 88 Daniel Robertson: 86
  10. And my oh my what a HUGE bat they acquired too. Adames is a lifetime 103 OPS+ hitter (slightly better than league average). Arcia had a career OPS+ of 72, and never a single season as a league average hitter in the past 5 years at the position. So that would seem to be a huge offensive upgrade at the shortstop position.
  11. Sort of fun they acquired the dude that used to work at the Miller Brewery (LINK).
  12. Baseball Trade Values certainly agrees (and yes I know that was also the case with the Grisham-Urias trade): Trade reaction comments from BTV founder John Bitzer:
  13. It feels like Rasmussen will develop into a multi-inning reliever that will thrive in Tampa.
  14. Not sure they sold high on JP. He took a beating these last two outings. I could agree they bought low on Adames, though. I think we would have loved this acquisition before this season. I could talk myself in liking this trade, I just don't really know what the plan is with Urias now and I am not sure what we are going to do with an already questionable pen. But there's a lot to like about Adames. He is 25, has had a pretty good career so far, was a top 100 prospect and is controllable. Maybe we just felt the value was too good to pass on. I think evaluating the trade is hard because of the context it’s logically evaluated with, which includes the Urias trade, and legitimately so. But on its own, it seems like a pretty good acquisition at a problematic position historically for the Brewers. If Adames goes on to become a perennial All-Star would that in turn make the Urias trade a success by way of the butterfly effect? In all seriousness, there are things to like (and some to be concerned about) with Adames. Seems like he has some good power, makes hard contact, plays good defense, and has solid speed (75 percentile). Looks like the strikeout rate (36%) and whiff rate have been pretty bad the past two seasons. I also don’t think this spells the end for Urias since he’ll play a bit around the diamond. This probably spells the end of Pablo Reyes and Daniel Robertson for now.
  15. For their careers Adames has been better against RHPs and Urias has been much better against LHPs, so wouldn’t that be perfect for platooning?
  16. Adrian Houser: Batter (Reds) vs Pitching Stats Jeff Hoffman: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats Statcast Game Preview for Reds-Brewers Statcast Game Feed for Reds-Brewers
  17. The Brewers had Burnes on the mound and ended up out hitting the Royals 9 to 7, including 5 extra base hits for the Brewers versus 2 for the Royals. Kudos to the Royals, they manufactured runs late in the game and it proved the difference.
  18. Posted this elsewhere, but there are now three teams that have been no hit twice this season: Indians, Mariners, Rangers I guess the good news is those teams have a healthy lead on the Brewers in the “no hitters against” leaderboard.
  19. I think one of the most remarkable elements of the 6 no hitters so far is that they’ve been against just 3 teams. The Indians, Mariners, and Rangers have each been no hit twice before the end of May.
  20. I won’t be surprised if the Royals get Dyson in to score even without another hit this inning.
  21. Yeah, a huge spot in the game and he puts Vogelbach down in the count with two bad “strike” calls.
