  1. Looked like Norris got the best of Adames on a couple of average fastballs in the zone, but all that matters is Willy got the last laugh in that at bat.
  2. Detroit is coming off a successful series sweep of the Yankees, but today is a bullpen game for the Tigers. With Burnes on the mound for the Milwaukee it appears to be a fairly big advantage for the Brewers, at least on paper.

  4. Brandon Woodruff: Batter (Nationals) vs Pitching Stats Max Scherzer: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats Statcast Game Preview for Nationals-Brewers Statcast Game Feed for Nationals-Brewers
  5. Brent Anderson: Batter (Nationals) vs Pitching Stats Jon Lester: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats Statcast Game Preview for Nationals-Brewers Statcast Game Feed for Nationals-Brewers
  6. It appears the Brewers will face two lefty starters today in Patrick Corbin and Jon Lester, but the order has yet to be determined for the Nationals.

  8. From Jonathan Judge of Baseball Prospectus... By this ranking, at least, the Brewers have played the second-hardest schedule in the NL so far (poor Rockies) and have the easiest remaining schedule in MLB. 2021 MLB Strength of Schedule Rankings

  10. And 5-2 on the season series isn’t too shabby either. Now they don’t have to play the Padres again... well, until the playoffs at least.
  11. Adames 4-for-5 today including a double and a home run. Not bad. He has the only extra base hits for the Brewers today.
  12. If the Brewers offense was a bit more potent I might even cut Counsell some more slack, but based on the likely lack of offensive run production in the 9th it would make so much more sense to play for the win in the 10th with Hader on the mound. If you lose in the 9th instead then so be it, and you didn’t waste Hader in another loss.
  13. They tried to move them over there...I think? Yeah, I think Wong must’ve missed the sign the first time around and it cost Cain a hittable pitch down the middle in the process.
  14. Yeah, that was an interesting call. Nice play and throw by Urias though. I think he could be a pretty solid defensive second baseman.
  15. I’ll only say this once today and leave it at that... I really like Adames’ swing. Early on with the Brewers he looks like such a better hitter than his previous stats indicate.
  16. It’s the first time in his career that Willy Adames has started a game batting 2nd in the lineup. Interestingly in addition to Adames’ reverse home/road splits (211 points of OPS better on the road), Adames has been better against RHPs than LHPs (101 points of OPS better), and much better in night games than day games (169 points of OPS better). He sort of has the trifecta of weird reverse splits going. It could all be fluky, but it is over more than 1,250 plate appearances at this point.
  17. Well that’s certainly an interesting Brewers lineup: Cain OF Adames SS Garcia OF Pina C Hiura 1B Urias 2B Bradley OF Robertson 3B Houser SP
  18. So far Adames has hit 6 of the 12 balls he’s put in play with the Brewers more than 100-mph. He’s had a little bit of bad batted ball luck, but he’s been squaring up the ball fairly well so far.
