  1. On the pregame show for the Yankees-Red Sox London series game today Mr. October, Reggie Jackson, told A-Rod he was picking the Brewers and Yankees to win their respective league pennants this year. That would certainly make the past few weeks a distant memory.
  2. In that case it came across sort of snide, so let me give you a better approach for next time... New & Improved Response: Counsell having something against Arcia is an interesting opinion, and one I had never really considered. I don’t think I necessarily agree with it, but I would be curious to know what past evidence or examples you have come across that support that idea? Thanks in advance for your thoughtful response.
  3. Houser should probably be higher, but no team is giving up great value for a 26 year old right-hander that’s still unproven and until very recently had a likely ceiling of no better than a middle inning reliever. The list is actually pretty good overall in terms of the way teams would value the players listed above.
  4. Can I aks what this ax is that is being ground, supposedly? The phrase, “an axe to grind” is a common idiom in the English language. The proper definition according to the Cambridge Advanced Learner's Dictionary & Thesaurus is, “to have a strong personal opinion about something that you want people to accept and that is the reason why you do something.” Let me use it in a sentence as an example... Several posters on the popular Internet forum known as Brewerfan.net ridicule each other to no end at the detriment of the forum’s well-being because they have an axe to grind with one another. In this specific case Brew4U meant that he believes Counsell has something against Arcia. Hopefully that helps clear things up. Now lets have a great night in the IGT!
  5. Thanks for taking the time to put the list together JosephC. First impressions are that Lutz, Ray, and Gray might be a little overvalued. I also think Feliciano will be valued higher among other teams than what is currently listed.
  6. Yeah, in all seriousness I think the odds of a trade between the Brewers and Dbacks for Greinke are pretty close to zero. If any team does trade for Greinke I assume the Dbacks will included somewhere between $15-$25 million in the deal in order to get a prospect return of some substance.
  7. Thanks, I added Homer to the list! I agree with those that mentioned Zack Wheeler seems to make a lot of sense. Ideally they would trade for a pitcher like Wheeler in early-to-mid July with the hope of getting 15+ starts out them. As an aside, one pipe dream would be to add both Zack Wheeler and Zack Greinke to the rotation along with Zach Davies. I think they’d be fine pitchers, but more importantly the marketing possibilities with having a rotation known as the “Zack Attack” is just too amazing to not make happen.
  8. The site founder said they are working on updating some of values before the trade deadline, and I noticed some players values did change just yesterday. One trade value scenario I thought seemed very accurate was Giants LHRP Will Smith (9.3) for Mauricio Dubon (5.8) and Mario Feliciano (3.5). Both sides came out to 9.30 in total value. I thought that was a good indication of what a Will Smith trade might look like especially considering he will be in high demand this deadline. The main return piece being a good, but non-100 type prospect and the second piece being a pre-breakout prospect with high upside. That package would sting a lot, and I don’t think I would actually do it from the Brewers standpoint, but it seems like fair value. One variation that may be easier to stomach from the Brewers point of view would be swapping Feliciano with the similarly valued Lucas Erceg.
  9. I didn’t bring up the Davies thing because I thought it was any type of definitive evidence someone (Davies or the coaches) should be run out of town, I just thought it was a bit strange. When guys have microphones stuck in their face daily you have to give them the benefit of the doubt that once in a while they may just say things that aren’t well thought out and don’t actually mean much at all. That could very well be the case in this instance. At this point it is one standalone comment that very likely may be completely meaningless.
  10. Not to say it’s impossible that they could coexist on the same team, but former college teammates Gerrit Cole and Trevor Bauer have a pretty well known dislike for one another. One small correction, this is the 50th season of Brewers baseball. Next year will be the 50th anniversary (51st season). The Brewers actually mistakenly celebrated their “25th anniversary” in the wrong season (1994). It should have actually been the following season unless at the time they were counting the Seattle Pilots season (but they weren’t).
  11. 5th rounder from Ole Miss, catcher Thomas Dillard has signed.
  12. They could have one-upped the Reds, and just moved the team to Nashville!
  13. Brandon Woodruff: Batter (Pirates) vs Pitching Stats Jordan Lyles: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats
  14. From MLB Trade Rumors... Admittedly, this one seems pretty far-fetched from any chance of becoming reality, past or present. The Pirates ended up being buyers at the deadline last season, so it wasn’t going to happen then.
  15. Generally I think baseball managers and coaches get a disproportionate amount of the credit (positive or negative) for the team’s performance. That being said, I did think Zach Davies comments the other day were slightly eyebrow raising. Maybe there was nothing to it as Adam McCalvy later suggested, but why acknowledge making the mistake of relying on someone else to know what’s best for you, followed by the comment “that’s not to point fingers” if something wasn’t slightly amiss? At the very least it wasn’t exactly a ringing endorsement of the coaching staff having a positive impact on Zach Davies while he worked through his struggles.
  16. Counsell said Jeffress should have gone home with the grounder. I thought the same, it would have been a difficult double play and that late in the game you have to keep the go ahead run off the board.
  17. If you’re going to get “Hadered” by Vasquez please at least make him throw 30+ pitches.
  18. I like Thames a lot, but against Vasquez he may as well just go up there and hang the bat on his shoulders and hope he can't find the zone. Looks like Counsell agrees with you.
  19. Giving up these walks leading to runs late is frustrating, but the offense also struggled quite a bit after the 1st inning. The pair of caught stealing outs at 2B tonight were sort of inning killers as well.
  20. The bullpen seems short on guys you can trust in the late innings of a one run game. Especially a scenario like this in the 7th inning facing the top of the order. Hopefully they are able to address that over the next month leading up to the trade deadline.
  21. It looked like Reynolds went on the 0-2 pitch before coming back to work a walk. Really hope that doesn’t end up being the tying run.
  22. Yeah, that was about as good of a pick up and throw on a barehanded ground ball as is humanly possible. Nice to see him with some good SS play tonight.
  23. Just a reminder of how awesome this was versus the Pirates back at the start of the month... Hiura's HR in 9th sets up wild win for Crew
