  1. Christian Yelich has been scratched from the Home Run Derby due to lower back tightness.
  2. Christian Yelich scratched from the Home Run Derby due to lower back tightness. No word on whether he’ll play in the All Star Game.
  3. Pete Alonso just broke up an Aaron Nola no-hitter in the 6th inning with his 30th home run. He’s had an impressive 1st half.
  4. I held my breath that entire double play. Nice play.
  5. Nice break on Marte’s interference call (not really sure if it hit him or not). First two batters squared up Claudio very well.
  6. [sarcasm]But at least the home run derby can’t ruin his swing this year![/sarcasm]
  7. Haha, yeah I think he’s hammered that one home. At this point maybe they assume Brewers fans can’t stand to tune in for more than 5 minutes at a time.
  8. Aguilar with a home run after missing a double by a couple of feet earlier. It is good to see his bat waking up.
  9. Sonny Gray versus the Brewers fan base...
  10. Completely agree. It is fun to use and seemingly close-ish on a lot of player values, but occasionally they don’t pass the “smell test”. It is probably best used as a general guide in constructing a trade idea, but ultimately teams needs, motivations, and own internal player evaluations need to matchup with one another for a trade to actually happen.
  11. I would be shocked if he doesn’t play at all today. I think he’ll get a pinch hit AB at the very least. It’s tough to blame them for not starting him when he showed up off the plane and to the ballpark just 90 minutes before 1st pitch.
  12. One minor correction, it was runners on 2nd and 3rd with one out.
  13. Hoping for a win today (obviously), but with the Brewers offense scuffling recently it is becoming tougher to keep the hope in these sort of games playing from behind. Early in the season even when they got down big early it seemed like they would mount an offensive rally at some point. Hopefully they have one of those in them today.
  14. Is it just me, or does it seem to rain a lot in Pittsburgh?
  15. If the Brewers plan is to trade Orlando Arcia than Counsell would have been better off not ragging on Arcia’s defense (completely unsolicited) when they called up Saladino. I’m sure it wouldn’t have much of an impact on another team’s front office evaluation of Arcia, but nevertheless you typically don’t want to a lot of unnecessary negativity surrounding a player you want to extract maximum trade value for.
  16. What a really tough break. Literally an inch or two from being a 2-0 game, but instead the scoring threat is completely stymied.
  17. That is the second time this year that back wall has stopped a ball from being a home run at PNC (in the Brewers favor last time). They should figure out how to clean up that wall situation, it’s a really annoying wall setup. Edit: On second thought maybe I’m thinking of San Diego as the previously similar occasion.
  18. Nobody has said that. I don’t think most people are saying he can’t be a valuable major league player as much as just trying to be realistic about what to reasonably expect from him. In my opinion, it is easy to see his 14 home runs this year and get carried away with what type of hitter he is likely to be. As someone who nearly bought a Taylor Green jersey when he initially debuted I can appreciate a bit of tempered expectations.
  19. As others have expressed, I’m excited for Dubon to get his chance. It will be interesting if Dubon ends up in the Brewers long term plans or if this ends up being a situation similar to when the Angels called up Jean Segura in July of 2012 before trading him to the Brewers. I do think Dubon is among the Brewers most likely trade assets if they make a significant addition prior to the deadline. Depending on the severity of Arcia’s injury, maybe that status has now changed. Here are some of the projected 2019 MLB batting lines for Dubon via various projection systems (for entertainment purposes only, please take these projections with a grain of salt)... Clay Davenport: .261 BA / .291 OBP / .383 SLG (.674 OPS) Steamer: .259 BA / .297 OBP / .393 SLG (.690 OPS) THE BAT: .254 BA / .295 OBP / .387 SLG (.682 OPS)
  20. This was my first thought as well. An annual tradition of taking roll call on who loves and hates various members of the broadcast team. I occasionally watch (TV) or listen (radio) to other teams games and it often leaves me thankful for the Brewers broadcasters in both mediums.
  21. Chase Anderson: Batter (Pirates) vs Pitching Stats Joe Musgrove: Batter (Brewers) vs Pitching Stats
  22. Below are all of the Brewers July/August trades since David Stearns took over as GM. I included the August trades as well even though those type of trade transactions won’t be available this year. I was interested in remembering the timing on some of them as compared to the deadline, so I looked them up and thought I would share. July 7, 2016 *Traded Aaron Hill and cash to the Boston Red Sox. Received Wendell Rijo (minors) and Aaron Wilkerson. August 1, 2016 *Traded Jeremy Jeffress and Jonathan Lucroy to the Texas Rangers. Received a player to be named later, Lewis Brinson and Luis Ortiz. The Texas Rangers sent Ryan Cordell (September 5, 2016) to the Milwaukee Brewers to complete the trade. *Traded Will Smith to the San Francisco Giants. Received Phil Bickford (minors) and Andrew Susac. July 13, 2017 *Traded Garrett Cooper to the New York Yankees. Received Tyler Webb. July 26, 2017 *Traded Ryan Cordell to the Chicago White Sox. Received Anthony Swarzak. July 31, 2017
*Traded Tayler Scott to the Texas Rangers. Received Jeremy Jeffress. August 12, 2017 *Traded a player to be named later to the New York Mets. Received Neil Walker and cash. The Milwaukee Brewers sent Eric Hanhold (September 12, 2017) to the New York Mets to complete the trade. 23. Based on the Baseball America signing tracker (as of 7/6/19) below are the number of Venezuelan players signed by each team. The Brewers are tied with the Giants for the most players from Venezuela signed to date. 12 - Brewers, Giants 11 - Red Sox, Indians, Blue Jays 8 - Diamondbacks, Orioles, Cardinals 7 - Angels, Dodgers 6 - Mets, A’s, Phillies 5 - Marlins, Padres, Rays 4 - Rockies, Tigers, Pirates, Mariners 3 - Astros, Yankees, Rangers, Nationals 2 - Cubs, Royals 1 - White Sox, Twins 0 - Braves, Reds
  24. Manny Piña at 3B for the first time in his career. Up to this point in his career the only position other than Catcher (and DH) that he has played is 1B for 0.1 of an inning.
  25. Hiura and Arcia both hurt after a nasty collision... well I guess this game could get worse after all. Looks bad for Arcia, they are holding his neck and it appears his left shoulder may be injured.
