  1. Especially since the MLB average is about one triple per day (across all MLB games). Seems like the Brewers have given up far more than their share.
  2. For the record I do NOT think there is a high likelihood Keston Hiura is going to get traded so please don't take my post above too seriously (meant in jest). Now back to your regularly scheduled programming...
  3. Random stat: Yesterday was Seattle’s first win in inter-league play this season (they were 0-4). They were the last team in MLB to not have any wins against the opposing league. The Brewers are now 2-6 versus the American League this season.
  4. Craig Kimbrel had his final Triple-A appearance last night and is set to join the Cubs in the near future. This Chicago Sun Times article (LINK) confirms that his fastball is currently topping out at 95-mph which would be between 4-6 mph slower than his max pitch speed has been at any point since 2011. Maybe it won’t matter, or maybe he hasn’t been going max effort, or maybe he is still working up his arm strength, but I am sort of fascinated to see if he has actually lost any velocity. This obviously could very well prove to be a big nothing-burger.
  5. I really hope they place Lorenzo Cain on the 10-day IL retroactive to 6/22 and call someone up before tomorrow night’s game. I would guess that Wilkerson may get sent down tomorrow also.
  6. Yeah, I am to the point of why even go through the whole charade of the “manager’s challenge.” Just have a system that looks at every close play and only changes the outcomes with truly indisputable evidence (which doesn’t always seem to be the case now). [sarcasm]The games are already 4 hours anyway, what’s another half hour tacked on at this point?[/sarcasm]
  7. Ben Gamel with two nearly identical diving catches tonight. Really nice effort on both of them. Having a serviceable CF replacement for Cain is sort of an underrated aspect of Gamel’s importance to the team.
  8. The fact he is going to take up a bullpen spot to likely serve in a mop up duty only role for the foreseeable future isn’t a great situation for either him or the team at this point.
  9. Well in better news the Cubs lost at Wrigley to the Braves and the Cardinals are also down 7-3 in the 8th inning at home against the A’s.
  10. I completely agree, and the come from behind win after Hiura’s game tying HR in Pittsburgh against Vasquez is a great example of one the Brewers likely lose without Hiura on the roster. It’s impossible to know if outcomes would have been different, but it’s hard to imagine the bat wouldn’t have helped ignite some big innings over the past few weeks. I know this is going to sound crazy and the odds are probably less than 2%, but with each day that goes by without Hiura on the roster the thought has slowly creeped into my mind that it may not be Super 2 protection or defensive development holding him down. It is starting to feel like there is at least a very small chance they plan to entertain trading Hiura for a big splash such starting pitcher under team control for a few years (i.e. Noah Syndergaard). Again, not likely at all, but seemingly slightly more conceivable than if he was on this big league roster right now.
  11. Playing this game without the services of a position player really hurts. So now after Shaw hits the remaining bench tonight consists of just Thames and Piña with 4 innings to go. That hurts in this scenario where you are trying to come from behind with an offensive surge.
  12. He did what I thought he would do ... Domingo in that situation would have been a lot better, normally. Your love affair with Domingo is quite honestly coming off a little weird at this point. I think everyone knows your stance on him, maybe just give it a rest for awhile.
  13. Well Gamel has a great chance to do some damage against his old team now.
  14. I’ve lost count of how many times over the past few weeks I’ve done the math on this scenario, “a Grand Slam would get them back within...” In some cases it has been “two Grand Slams...”
  15. I assume they will ride Wilkerson for awhile and then option him after the game. I would guess if it remains a blowout that Jimmy Nelson will likely throw some pitches tonight as well.
  16. I sort of liked having Gamel hit in the #9 spot since he was doing such a great getting on base before the top of the order.
  17. The two 8-7 losses have been the hardest to swallow among those outcomes.
  18. Far better? No.... but the Brewers do sort of look like a team with Domingo Santana’s lack of fielding prowess spread across the entire diamond right now.
  19. Well this inning has the makings of some serious trouble.
  20. Playing from behind by a big deficit early in these weeknight games is all too familiar territory lately.
  21. It was by no means any easy play, but it seemed like Arcia should have come up with that one. Wow, rough inning.
  22. [sarcasm]Quiet thread tonight.[/sarcasm] Just kidding, glad were back in business. Arcia barreled that last ball up nicely, have to tip your cap to Mallex Smith on the running catch.
