  1. I believe the last time you said this before a game with the Cardinals, it started a 9 game winning streak. Lets hope it works again!
  2. that taveras kid is going to be great. i hate thinking that the cards have a young bat like that ready to go for the next ten years. i'd rather that they trade that monster bat for profar. i dont think profar would hurt us as much as taveras bat wise. The forward to last years Prospect Handbook was written by John Mozeliak and points out that when they recorded the final out of the 2011 World Series, 7 of the 9 players on the field were "scouted and developed" by the Cardinals. That has really stuck with me, there is something extra special about having such great success with home grown talent.
  3. Hell of a throw by Braun though to make it even remotely close. Aoki made that throw. Apparently speaking of the future?! It was a nice throw by Braun.
  4. I think Logan Schaefer's walk-up song has something to say about that.
  5. A forum post from yesterday on AngelsWin.com...
  6. And the knockout blow... http://25.media.tumblr.com/3867f13dac7a8417b38058090c97caa7/tumblr_mkqkt33yST1s04k2io2_500.gif
  7. [sarcasm]Quite the pitching battle tonight...[/sarcasm] http://24.media.tumblr.com/f9d7f34d035bf1d3ffc558eef9a7bad1/tumblr_mkqkt33yST1s04k2io1_500.gif
  8. Does Axford pitching on a night where the balls are clearly flying out of the ballpark seem like a bad idea?
  9. I think losing a draft pick and the corresponding pool money was a bigger deterrent for most teams than the money Lohse received. In this hypothetical, regarding the deferred money beyond Lohse's '14 & '15 salaries... I'd be happy for the Brewers to eat that money if it meant getting the right player(s) in return. I think two seasons of Lohse for a total of ~$22M would be pretty attractive to many (most?) contending teams in need of pitching. Completely agree with TLB on this point, the Brewers could make the deferred money a non-issue if the right offer was on the table.
  10. Well Tim Welke is the same umpire that called this an out... http://nbchardballtalk.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/helton-hairston-2.jpg
  11. May looks like a .500 month to me, 14-14. The 10 straight road games against division rivals not named the Cubs bookended by home series versus the Rangers and Dodgers looks like a tough stretch.
  12. I re-watched it in slow-mo, he was under the tag and it wasn't really close.
  13. Segura apparently scratched now as well with a split fingernail.
  14. Salvador Perez signed an extension with the Royals last year when he had accumulated 0.050 service time, which is less than Segura has now. It was a five year contract with three additional club option years. I am not in favor of the Brewers exploring an extension with Segura until after this season, but at this point a buyout of his arbitration eligible years with some additional club option years would not be completely unprecedented.
  15. I agree, off days are the worst... http://stream1.gifsoup.com/view6/1941257/bored-o.gif
  16. Absolutely. I've been extremely bullish on Profar since well before the trade last year. I proposed actually giving up Greinke AND K-Rod or if need be Axford(when he was going well again) for Profar and many thought that was ridiculous. I think a lot of people (myself included) didn't think there was any chance the Rangers would give up Profar for a package of Greinke + any player on the Brewers roster not named Ryan Braun. Profar was never a viable option in the case of the Brewers, and IMO if he is traded over the next year the deal will involve Giancarlo Stanton.
  17. Nice Pic from last night's game... http://i34.tinypic.com/35d2e60.jpg
  18. Coming into tonight, here are the top five defensive WAR scores in the National League so far this season (per Baseball Reference): 1) Starling Marte, PIT - 0.8 2) Carlos Gomez, MIL - 0.7 3) Norichika Aoki, MIL - 0.6 4t) Jean Segura, MIL - 0.5 4t) Troy Tulowitzki, COL - 0.5
