  1. The battle of demoted closers not going the Brewers way right now.
  2. Clearly BF.net crashing was bad luck for the Brewers. Nice outing from Peralta, to bad it is going to be a no decision.
  3. Wily is on tonight. Overall good command, and has varied the speed and movement on his two-seamer all night. I realize it is the Cubs and a tough night for hitters, but very encouraging nevertheless.
  4. Are you suggesting that Jungmann and Bradley should be in the majors at this moment? what im suggesting is that theres no way to say any player will develop and rise through the minors the same in one franchise from another. to think that had the brewers drafted Fernandez and Barnes, and that they'd have the same success/training/advancement in the minors is pretty insane. In no way was I suggesting all experiences, training, injury risk, and professional advancement are the same among different organizations, but I don't think it is insane to expect that a guy like Fernandez would maintain his top prospect status in other organizations. It became apparent fairly quickly after Fernandez was drafted that he was an elite pitcher. Also, if the lone reason he has been successful and has developed a plus-plus fastball with plus breaking pitches is because he is in the Marlins organization and not the Brewers organization then something is seriously broke in the player development department. Conversely, if Jungmann were currently in the Marlins organization I have a hard time believing he would be on the path toward becoming a future ace right now.
  5. The Brewers could have drafted Jose Fernandez and Matt Barnes in the 2011 first round. Easy to say in hindsight obviously, but amazing to think about what the future would look like if they had made those two picks.
  6. I wasn't able to watch the game, but listened to much of it. Can someone inform me what Carlos Gomez is apologizing for on Twitter? He tweeted the following... @C_Gomez27: I want to apologize to everyone for my actions today, sometimes you get caught in the heat of the moment And... @C_Gomez27: I always try to be a good example and carry myself and uniform in a professional way, again I am truly sorry for my actions today. #CG27
  7. Noche, that is right, typically seeds, gum, etc. At the MLB level it often falls on the rookie to take the bag out to the bullpen. Sometimes it is just a normal bag, but more often than not it is something along the lines of a pink My Little Pony bag.
  8. Nashville bullpen getting creative with their bullpen bag this year, courtesy of Rob Wooten (@RobWooten35). http://i48.tinypic.com/fcnmc.jpg And here is Mike Olmsted displaying proper carrying technique. http://i47.tinypic.com/3zkzn.jpg
  9. I have held off on commenting one way or another on RRR. Maybe it is overreaction on my part, but I cringed when I read Roenicke's post-game comments regarding Parra's slide juxtaposed with Segura's quote. I could not stand Tony LaRussa as a rival manager, but I always felt like he was willing to stick up for his guys (those not named Colby Rasmus, at least) no matter to what extent it may alienate the opposition. Over a long baseball season, it seems like standing with your players during these heated moments will earn their respect a lot quicker then remaining diplomatic.
  10. Equally depressing to Axford's performance is the $5 million he is getting paid this year. I guess it could be worse, Marmol is making $9.8 million.
  11. ...and we don't have to face Samardzija. Just a sweep away from being back to mediocre.
  12. This is as disheartened as I can remember being about baseball in April. Sigh.
  13. Extra innings with no remaining bench should be interesting. Nice job to get back into it, now hopefully the bullpen can keep it tied.
  14. I can't wait to watch a Brewers game that does not include Aaron Hill or Paul Goldschmidt on the opposition.
  15. My thoughts exactly. I can't believe Segura is staying in this game, wow.
  16. Jose Fernandez is actually the starting pitcher in that Marlins lineup today. Not often you see a pitcher go from Single A to the majors.
  17. Some day we will have a good laugh over this one... http://i48.tinypic.com/11cfe52.jpg ...but it may take some time.
  18. I looked through their April schedule last weekend and came up with 13-13. I would be happy if they played around .500 ball until Corey returns.
  19. Great opener today, and it's finally baseball season! A couple of impressions from game #1/162... 1) I thought Rickie looked more comfortable swinging the bat. Obviously getting thrown out by 15 feet at 2nd in the 6th was inexcusable, but I am hopeful he can return to pre-injury form. 2) Aoki is so fun to watch. He got completely hosed on that called strike two call in the 10th. I think he will be a tough out at the top of the lineup this year. 3) I was really impressed with Henderson getting ahead 0-2 on both CarGo and Tulo. More of that could be the recipe for success this year. Pumped tonight, can't wait for game #2!
  20. This is now confirmed per McCalvy, Lohse will pitch Friday versus D-backs. Based on rotation schedule he will miss the April 12-14 go around with the Cardinals.
