    Brewers have had some charmed calls at First and Third tonight. Not necessarily bad calls, but some that could have gone either way.

    Aoki also had a nice throw to gun Prado out at 3B on a Heyward base hit. Aoki has met my expectations this year.

    I have been curious about the 2013 draft subject as well. Although it is early, I really enjoyed browsing the Sickels list. It is interesting to see Dylan Covey so high on the list. Covey hasn't dominated statistically at the college level, but I am sure scouts are still high on his potential.

    Good Article on Mark Rogers from a Maine newspaper. I sure hope he can stay healthy and provide a bright spot over the next couple of months!

    7.5. A tough question to answer. As others mentioned, the two trades that were made came close to maximizing value and brought some legitimate prospects to the organization. The biggest failure in my opinion is that Marcum could not be traded at the deadline, but that was due to his injury and not DM's fault. I would have liked to see Ramirez or Hart dealt, but I had no expectations of that actually happening.

    I kind of want to change my username to "Where in the World is Fausto Carmona?" Looks like the list hasn't been updated recently since it is also omitting Ben Sheets.

    Edwin Jackson has been solid the last two years (1.155 WHIP this season), but it could take somewhere in the neighborhood 3/$30+ mil to sign him. I doubt he will settle for another one year deal this off season, and the Brewers may be looking more for one year gap fillers.

    Per McCalvy, Melvin said trade isn't done yet and may not be completed today.

    Anibal Sanchez not overly impressive in his debut for the Tigers. Pitched 6.0 innings against the Blue Jays and gave up 5 ER, 8 hits, 3 HRs, 3 BB with 3 SO. I know some scouts were down on Jacob Turner, but I think the Tigers sold very low on him.

    The thought of eventually filling the major league rotation with guys from the organization rather than the FA market is certainly an exciting one. TC07, always appreciate your insight on system building, and your depth of knowledge regarding young players. I noticed you mentioned in another thread that all three are top 10 prospects in the Brewers system, just curious where you would rank each of them within the top 10 right now? I went back and watched parts of the Futures Game earlier tonight (kept it on the DVR for just such an occasion). A few amateur observations.... Segura has a very wide stance and almost touches the ground with his knee on a couple of his swings. He had a very solid single to LF on a Dylan Bundy hanging breaking ball. He appears very calm and polished in the field (played 2B with Profar at SS). He did a nice job covering 2nd on a caught stealing and just seems to have a mature presence on the field. Ariel Pena's problem was difficulty locating his pitches. He was throwing everything in the upper half of the zone or above it. He walked Scooter Gennett on 4 straight pitches. Only two of the hits he allowed were on pitches in the lower half of the zone (to Singleton & Olt). One silver lining was he did not give up any HRs. One mildly interesting note, it was one of his high fastballs that Wil Myers fouled off into the lens of the ESPN camera. I am looking forward to following these guys progress through the Brewers organization.

    Two thoughts from this picture: 1) It does seem like he genuinely liked the guys in the Milwaukee clubhouse. He said something when he met with the press to the effect that the guys got along very well even when things weren't going well on the field. 2) Wolf and Kottaras really might be inseparable?!

    Not seeing this anywhere. [sarcasm]Sounds like another done deal.[/sarcasm] You should see it shortly. My source is pretty reliable. Not trying to create a frenzy. Just passing on what I heard from someone that would know. I better not have to return this Brewers' Andrus jersey!

    Here is the best collection of teams I could come up with that have been rumored to be interested in either starting pitching or Greinke specifically. Tried to list them in order of frequency: Rangers Angels Braves Tigers (added Anibal Sanchez) Dodgers White Sox Orioles Nationals Pirates (added Wandy Rodriguez) Blue Jays Cardinals Red Sox It is going to be a very interesting next 24-48 hours. I am sure many of the above teams will at least check in on the Brewers asking price.

    Per Todd Rosiak, Greinke's post-game comments on if he thinks it was his last start with the Brewers: "I thought about it a little bit, but I don't really like thinking about it so much. It's kinda fun playing here. We've got a lot of good players. We're just not pulling out wins at the moment."
