That Jerry Hairston Jr. trade ended up being low-key pretty solid. Closest in-season “veteran presence” position player acquisitions they’ve made during Stearns tenure are Neil Walker and Curtis Granderson. Both of those worked out well, but if they are going to add a veteran hitter to this current roster I think it would need to be someone that maintains positional flexibility because their roster spot would likely replace someone like Daniel Robertson.
Is there any chance the Twins would consider moving Taylor Rogers? If so, I assume he would be a costly acquisition since he has 1.5 years remaining on his contract. He could certainly be an impact bullpen arm for someone.

Believe it or not those are the odds to win the World Series. According to PECOTA only two teams in baseball have higher current odds to win the World Series, the Dodgers (17.5%) and the Astros (16.2%). The only other teams above 6% are the Mets (8.8%), Padres (8.3%), and White Sox (7.8%).
Here are all the 2021 All-Star Game position player starters at each position. FIRST BASE National League: Freddie Freeman (ATL) American League: Vladimir Guerrero Jr. (TOR) SECOND BASE National League: Adam Frazier (PIT) American League: Marcus Semien (TOR) SHORTSTOP National League: Fernando Tatis Jr. (SD) American League: Xander Bogaerts (BOS) THIRD BASE National League: Nolan Arenado (STL) American League: Rafael Devers (BOS) CATCHER National League: Buster Posey (SF) American League: Salvador Perez (KC) DESIGNATED HITTER Shohei Ohtani (LAA) OUTFIELD American League: Mike Trout (LAA) Aaron Judge (NYY) Teoscar Hernández (TOR) National League: Ronald Acuña Jr. (ATL) Nick Castellanos (CIN) Jesse Winker (CIN) So among the 8 starting NL position players 4 of them are from the NL Central, specifically representing the Reds (2), Cardinals (1), and Pirates (1).
PECOTA projections include rest of season player projections in their standings and playoff odds model (as of 7/1/21). Lets just say PECOTA also really likes the Brewers chances (including 10% World Series odds)…
RE: Gallo… Remember the rumors about the Brewers having strong interest in Eddie Rosario, but needing him to be open to also playing 1B? I feel like it could be a very similar situation with Gallo. If they want to add a true impact bat at the deadline it feels more and more like Joey Gallo’s their best option.
You did? viewtopic.php?f=66&t=34124 Here’s another reference to being blasted about the Scooter-Renfroe trade idea, but I can’t find the original proposal or blasting being alleged: And to think that I got blasted for offering MReed, Gennett, and Fiers for Hunter Renfroe...sheesh... Is it possible you’re conflating it with the reaction to your Hunter Renfroe for Jean Segura, Mike Fiers and Michael Reed proposal (Link)?

Those guys convinced me that that would be a pretty damn good draft. I should’ve provided this the first time around, but those that want to watch the Brewers picks they are at the following timeframes in the video… 15th pick - 1:24:15 33rd pick - 2:38:30 51st pick - 3:44:05
He's climbed to .771 Right behind Jace Peterson's .777 Urias started the season 2-for-27 with a double Since then he’s 59-for-215 (.274 BA), 13 doubles, 1 triple, 10 home runs, 24 BB, 5 HBP, 39 RBI
I do think it’s possible that in addition to limiting innings over the course of the season, the Brewers may believe the extra rest day improves pitcher performance. On the whole it’s tough to argue with the success that strategy has brought so far this season.
This reminded me, I noticed the Brewers end the season in Los Angeles against the Dodgers. While the odds are relatively small of it happening, if they do need to play a game 163 those have historically been day games on the Monday (next day) following the season. What a nightmare scenario it would be to have to fly back to Midwest to play a quick turnaround winner-take-all game 163.
While it seems like a break to not have Rizzo or Bryant in the lineup, over the past 16 games each has played below are their stats. Kris Bryant: 4-for-52 (.077 BA), 17 K, 7 BB Anthony Rizzo: 8-for-51 (.157 BA), 15 K, 4 BB
Based on the 6-man rotation they seem committed to during this stretch without any off days this appears to be how things currently line up heading into the All Star break… July 1 (@ Pirates): Burnes July 2 (@ Pirates): Houser July 3 (@ Pirates): Lauer July 4 (@Pirates): Peralta July 5 (@ Mets): Woodruff July 6 (@ Mets): Anderson/Bullpen July 7 (@ Mets): Burnes July 8 (Reds): Houser July 9 (Reds): Lauer July 10 (Reds): Peralta July 11 (Reds): Woodruff July 13 (All Star Game) They have a lot of off days in three weeks after the All Star break, so it should give them a chance to reset the rotation somewhat.
Aaron Ashby gets the start which will mark his major league debut. Ashby is only expected to go a couple of innings in what is expected to be a bullpen day for the Crew. ______________________
