  1. There are still some good players on the board that may be tough signs. Reminder that teams often use money saved in rounds 1-10 to go overslot on players taken in rounds 11-20. Not signing a player after the tenth round doesn’t impact your bonus pool like it does in rounds 1-10 where you need to sign all of your picks in order to have use of your full allotment. It’s also why you’ll typically see some bigger names selected in rounds 11-15 than in rounds 6-10. One added element this year is undrafted free agents are able to get up to $125,000 without impacting a team’s bonus pool, and can be offered beyond that amount with the excess amount over the $125k going against the team’s bonus pool.
  2. Use this thread to share your thoughts, links, stories, pictures and anything else on the Brewers' selections [as well as other teams’ picks] from rounds 11 through 20 as well as undrafted free agent signings. Also, reminder to check out the Brewer Fanatic Draft Tracker.
  3. I think most of their day one picks are going to sign near slot, but that they saved some money in day two that will be used to go over slot on a couple of players yet to be drafted. Also, one thing to keep in mind is the rule changes surrounding undrafted free agents. There is no longer a spending limit on what you can offer UDFAs. With only 20 rounds, any draft eligible player not selected is now able to sign for up to $125,000 without it impacting the signing team. Any amount over $125,000 on an individual player goes against the team’s bonus pool. So now teams can use the money saved in the first ten rounds not only on draftees in rounds 11-20, but also as a way to commit more financial resources toward UDFAs. You can take some big chances in rounds 11-20, and if it doesn’t work out you can pivot to make a run at some of the best UDFAs.
  4. I think Max Wagner’s awesome, but my point was that you can literally nitpick any player that was available at #27. For instance Max Wagner has slight swing and miss issues and some scouts believe he’s going to have to move to first base. He also has an uppercut to his swing path that could get exposed against higher caliber pitching. See how easy it is! ?
  5. 6'7" RHP Jacob Misiorowski was ranked #61 on Baseball America's board. Seems very, very projectable. Astros picking one spot behind the Brewers ended up with Drew Gilbert and Jacob Melton, I do like those two picks.
  6. Will be rooting for him, was foolishly hoping he might make it to the Brewers next selection.
  7. Which of the Rays 1st round picks over the past decade was your favorite? If you need a refresher here's the list: Tampa Bay Rays 1st Round Picks
  8. That's well said. The biggest concern I would have is if he does indeed need a swing overhaul that hasn't exactly proven to be a strength of the Brewers organization. If you're disappointed that's absolutely fine, but please keep it within the perspective that there literally wasn't a player left on the board at #27 that you couldn't pick apart.
  9. Guardians draft Justin Campbell, that's a good landing spot for him.
  10. Which experts have said that Eric Brown is "light hitting"?
  11. Brewers Fans: They can only score if they hit home runs and they strike out way too much. Also Brewers Fans: I hate it when they draft high contact guys that don't strike out because they don't hit enough home runs.
  12. For those scouting college stat lines to proclaim someone "light hitting" you might want to go back and take a peak at Joey Wiemer's college stats.
  13. Eric Brown reportedly hit 61% of his batted balls greater than 95-mph.
  14. Sounds like it's [likely] Coastal Carolina SS Eric Brown for the Brewers.
  15. Would be pretty thrilled with a Drew Gilbert selection here.
  16. Best available per Baseball America's list... 7) Brock Porter, RHP, St. Mary's Prep, Orchard Lake, Mich. 15) Robby Snelling, LHP, McQueen HS, Reno, Nev. 18) Drew Gilbert, OF, Tennessee 19) Jacob Melton, OF, Oregon State 20) Dylan Beavers, OF, California 21) Justin Campbell, RHP, Oklahoma State 22) Carson Whisenhunt, LHP, East Carolina 23) Sterlin Thompson, OF, Florida 24) Blade Tidwell, RHP, Tennessee 25) Brock Jones, OF, Stanford
  17. With three more picks before the Brewers selection there are still several good college outfielders available. Also RHP Justin Campbell is someone previously linked to the Brewers and still available.
  18. Was low key hoping Cooper Hjerpe would be available at the Brewers pick, really would’ve preferred he didn’t go to St. Louis. I can already envision him shutting down the Brewers lineup a couple of years from now.
  19. Pirates and Reds both add very exciting HS hitters. Curious to see where the financials land with Collier.
  20. Dylan Lesko seems like the real deal, I very much like that pick for the Padres.
  21. Well half way through the picks occurring before the Brewers first selection (13 of 26).
  22. The Cubs selected RHP Cade Horton (4.86 ERA at OU this season) over Brooks Lee, Cam Collier, Kevin Parada, Gavin Cross, and Jace Jung.
  23. A bit of a technicality since Kumar Rocker isn’t considered a college guy, but it’s the first time since 1971 that a college player wasn’t taken in the first five selections of the MLB Draft.
  24. I don’t know where his future is defensively [likely 2B], but it seems Termarr Johnson has the bat to be a thorn in the side of NL Central foes for a long time. He was my favorite hitter in this year’s draft.
