  1. To speak to it being the highlight of his career, the game before he went 7 innings giving up 1 earned and striking out 8. I love seeing him succeed after everything he went through, just wish it was with the brewers. Tough to go through the lumps in a playoff chase, but so far he has a 3.72 ERA. It’s a small sample size, but that would have looked good on this team.
  2. Good point, I haven’t seen doorman in a while, that’s kind of sad :-/
  3. I still feel like the brewers gave up on him too early and the royals were getting a steal. He was 3 outs away from throwing a perfect game for the royals yesterday, he gave up a lead-off walk in the ninth. (Edit: old friend silly peralta is the closer for the royals and allowed that walk to score for Lopez)
  4. This^^^ The guy has been throwing since spring.... he could probably throw an inning balls to the wall already (if no one cared about his health or future). If they work him through rehab and bring him up I’m sure it we be as a ready to go pitcher. All surgery’s are dofferent but this wasn’t Tommy johns.
  5. Usually there is someone who compiles a breakdown. Would be a lot easier than reading through a whole thread. I’m lazy...
  6. I think meideros should make another jump. Former first rounder having his results in AA... he’s legit. Also it’s not uncommon for high school pitchers to take a little time to really find their stuff and it appears he has. Another who I think should be a big riser is chad mclannahan, he is really putting it together at the plate. I know he was expected to start at A ball in many’s opinion but he is raking in rookie. He has the pedigree and was a big signing for an 11th rounder, should have been a 2-3 round pick.
  7. Is there a breakdown of all the signings (Rankin’s if they have them) and bonuses if known, somewhere?
  8. Phillips is blocked, and so is Ortiz. So, all they have right now to the org is trade value. By the time they would get regular playing time they would have vastly less value. There is no point in having prospects just to have them. The rangers made this mistake.
  9. Big Time Timmy Jim Nelson
  10. Rentals just aren’t getting what they used to. Woodruff being a top 100 guy is enough of a headliner. Based on what the oriels are looking for I would say that a package of woodruff and erceg get its with a third flyer type ptbnl (hopefully not Jean Carmona) maybe one of bickford, Williams, Kirby.
  11. Saw on twitter that Turang signed, forum won’t let me post the picture [Discussion here: viewtopic.php?f=69&t=36887&start=480]
  12. Couldn’t have said it better myself
  13. That looks about right. Obviously avg. fab velocity is really important when looking at a pitcher, but I’m also a believe in looking at their max velocity as well. When I guy is maxing at 94 vs a guy that may have close the the same avg. speed but has show. 97, it makes the hitters have to respect that 97 could be coming and therefor the offspeed plays up, even if the avg is fairly similar. Does that make sense?
  14. Chase’s fastball velocity dipped over his last 6 or so starts after he came off the DL. That maybe be part of the overall yearly velocity not being considerable higher than this year. Regardless, it was the first outing I saw over 95 this year and that bodes well.
  15. Obviously there is a huge “small sample size alert” here, but if Ace is back that would be an incredible boost to this team. For me it not just a good outing against a good team, but it was his velocity. For much of the year chase has been 91-94 on the fastball and that has been concerning to me since last season a high velocity accompanied his breakout. Last night he sat mostly at 94 and topped out at 97, he only touched 95 and 96 a couple times and I only saw 97 once, but he was beating hitters with it. There is a big difference in how every other pitch plays when the heater is coming in 94-95 vs 91-92. Anyone else notice this last night?? Also, the rotation would start looking pretty good again with last seasons Ace, Guerra, Cachin, David’s, and Suter
  16. Not sure if this has been mentioned or not and I’m too lazy to ready everything, but villar for sy sneed I think wasnkne of his best moves. Also (again not sure if mentioned) but Maldy for bandy should be on the list of worst moves.
  17. I knew that was going to happen around this time. That means Williams and Woodruff are ineligible for our next prospect poll. The only other guys I could see getting bumped would be Phillips - who is 29 ABs away from losing his rookie eligibility. But that would require something to happen (such as an injury) to get him playing time. One under-the-radar guy could be Jorge Lopez. He's bounced up and down on the roster, and by end of July, he may potentially accrue 45 days of service. Peralta is another guy - assuming he is brought back up and sticks in the rotation. If Nottingham hadn't gotten hurt there was a possibility that he could have displaced Bandy - but I doubt that happens now. Josh Pennington is, due to his retirement, the other guy who won't be garnering any votes. I could see Zack Brown and Jankins moving into the Top 25 - plus whomever we take with our top pick in next month's draft. Payton Henry might get some interest as well. And if Nate Orf isn't freed, perhaps he can sneak in. Also, the short ball players will start to accumulate some numbers - such as Lemons and Carmona will start making their mark. I expect Bickford to drop out. Plus a few other fringe guys are not playing or having tough seasons - so there could be some movement there. Should be interesting. I agree on this, especially Zach Brown, im not sure people realiz just how well he is pitching. Also, I will be voting, and hope to see two timber rattlers make appearances due to VASTLY better showings this year plus pedigree in Demi orimoleye and Gilbert Lara.
  18. Haha, how did I do that! I still get confused looking at the box scores when we play Nashville... ugh, embarrassing
  19. Hey everyone. The Colorado Springs rotation has been in serious flux with all the up and down. I live in OKC and will try to catch as many of the four games as a can. Does anyone have an idea of when burnsight pitch? Also it looks like I would get bubba derby on Friday. I wish Woodruff was starting instead of in the mls bullpen! EDIT: I corrected from Nashville to Colorado Springs - reillymcshane
  20. I still think it’s interesting that Flanagan said his breakout candidate for the brewers was Tyrone Taylor and that the last 2 seasons were more about injuries than regression. They bumped him a level and he is raking, still supposed to have a plus glove in center. When Flanagan said that my first reaction was that they felt really good about him and he made it easier to trade some much depth out of the position. He was top 100 as well in the past.
  21. Yes, short stop... short season is great for young players :-)
  22. I agree, on making sure they have continued success. I think with Lara there is a very real possibility that he was not taking the game seriously as a bonus baby. I think the brewers keeping him at short as long as they did may not have been the best for him.
  23. Bump! With a SMALL SAMPLE SIZE alert... As of right now just about everyone of these guys is balling out. Like I said, if even just half of them bounce back our system could make a big jump. Ray finally looks like a 5th overall pick (I think he just hit his 4th double today) Erceg looks great, Nottingham looks great, miederos looks nasty, Lara looks REALLY good, orimoleye looks much better, nuehluse looks great, Tyrone Taylor looks great, Hauser Lopez and Williams all look really good and have been up with the big club this season. Most of the feedback on this list was negative and “it could be said about any system” but I disagree, we have tremendous upside in this system and a lot of people were writing off really young players I think a bit to soon. That’s all happy Sunday!
  24. Interesting to see tom flanighan name Tyrone Taylor as his breakout candidate. Said the pop is back after dealing with injuries and the brewer still see him as having room to develop, the defense is excellent. Maybe this is just Org speak, but maybe it’s something they saw at the end of last season helping to make a couple other centerfielders more expendable???
  25. To answer an earlier question, the reason he likely wasn’t traded is that this is the most difficult time of the year to trade a player. Basically every team is in a position of having to cut one of their own guys that they like, so it’s a tough spot to try to sell that your guy that you are going to have to cut is worth giving someone up and cutting 2 of your own guys. Other side of the coin is it’s a great time of the year if you have 40man flexibility because you might have your eye on someone likely to get cut, that’s what Stearns did :-) .
