  1. don't know if there any any left, but kohl's in oak creek had a bunch yesterday and they were 50% off along with the rest of the playoff stuff.
  2. Hall and Weeks. They were awful all year while Hart mostly struggled in September along with 95% of the rest of the team. Improving 2B or 3B would be much more important than improving RF.
  3. The grades are just like "top 10"-type lists that papers and magazines do. Just to annoy people and get people discussing the paper. And since TH is awful, it makes the article even more hilarious.
  4. Isn't the one in Atlanta especially huge because it was originally built for the Olympics? A new scoreboard would be nice. I'd just flip the current matrix board and screen. Have the smaller matrix board up top and use the big area for a nice HD screen. I'm sure it'll allow them to sell more advertising as well. I know they had also talked about doing something with the windows along the 1st/3rd base sides to allow them to open to increase airflow and help regular temps, but it was deemed too costly to retrofit something like that.
  5. This is going to get crazy with the rumors and everyone's "sources" until he signs with someone. I read on 2 different sites already that CC was rumored to be at the Bucks preseason game tonight in one of the luxury boxes (obviously likely 99% untrue).
  6. Attendance was up big for his first mid-week start, but weekend games were close to sell outs for the rest of the year, and likely will be for more of next season as well regardless of if they sign him or not. Any attendance boost will not come close to making enough $ to justify the signing. This team will draw 2.4 million at the very minimum without Sabathia. As I've said before, the only way Mark A. signs him is if he believes this team will win a World Series with Sabathia (and won't without him). You pretty much need a championship to increase the overall value of the team enough that he'll get that money he paid to CC back when he sells the team. The year-to-year financials don't matter nearly as much as how much he'll get when he "cashes out" down the road. Not real numbers, but he could lose $10 million each of the next 5 years, but if they win a WS, the team might be worth $50-100 million more than if they finish around .500 the next 5 years when he sells the team, and that increase covers those yearly losses.
  7. Mattingly, or maybe take a chance with someone like Steve Decker.
  8. The thundersticks today were awful. They just gave people a reason not to cheer and instead for the whole game there was just a steady, low-pitched rumbling noise that probably didn't affect any player much at all.
  9. Very disappointing to hear they didn't come out. I was there last year on the final day where they came out and threw everything out to the crowd (balls, hats, gloves, game-used stuff). Even if they didn't want to give anything away, they still could have come out and thanked the fans who were staying. Although based on the way they've played the last month, they probably just wanted to get home as soon as possible...
  10. Sad day. This begins 3-4 years of rebuilding with guys like Sheets and Sabathia gone and likely some other starters traded away before they make too much. I figure we'll make another 1-2 year run in about 5 years just before Braun gets his "real" payday with another team when the current deal expires. Gotta look at things realistically, folks.
  11. Just awful performances by nearly everyone but the bullpen this series. Batting just over .100 is completely unacceptable. If these first 2 games doesn't convince those who think Sveum should be kept that he should be fired, nothing will. Just keep trotting out the same guys who've done nothing the last month and hope things are going to change. And I won't even start on overworking Sabathia. They can say it was his idea, he was OK with it, etc... but you have to MANAGE your players. Ugh. What a disappointing season.
  12. Take CC out so he doesnt get injured for his next team. This one is over as we wont score anywhere near 5 runs.
  13. If we win this one, it's going to be because our pitching holds them to 1 run or less as I don't see us putting up more than 2 runs the way we're hitting.
  14. kohls in oak creek is now out of the caps, but have gotten a bunch of t-shirts and sweatshirts. they have the "roster" dark blue majestic shirts with all the players on the back, as well as the "on-field" hooded thermabase sweatshirts in dark blue and dark grey.
  15. thoughts for the game: - great pitching all 8 innings given the situation. aside from the error-filled inning, yo did great. - defensive errors pretty much cost us the game. i'll never know how cameron won those gold gloves. - this team still can't hit, and that won't change this series. they better hope for a lot of 2-1, 3-2 type games. - hopefully we win tomorrow so i can sell my game 4 tickets so i don't have to see the phils win the series
  16. cameron is just awful. Now he will K to start the inning i am guessing
  17. newspapers, ticket stubs, gameday programs from the games, streamers and confetti from sunday, rally towels the main thing i'm looking forward to is getting some great pictures on saturday. i plan on walking around the park and getting hundreds of photos of the stadium packed, the crowd, etc...
  18. Kohls on Howell in Oak Creek had about 20 of the WC caps left as of 15 minutes ago. $25 (minus any coupons you may have).
  19. I'm guessing they'll trot out some of the '82 guys (yet again) since they are the last Brewers to play in the playoffs. And then hopefully that's it for the 1982 stuff until 2032. The last 3 years with the retro uniforms, 25th anniversary celebration, bobbleheads, hirings of '82 players as coaches, etc... have been nauseating.
  20. Yep, happened last year. I remember because when the playoffs started, TWC hadn't added TBS HD yet so only the parts of games they moved to TNT were in HD at the beginning.
  21. self employed, so i met with myself and decided to give me the day off. days like this and the opening 2 days of march madness are when it really pays to own your own business, lol.
  22. Players will will be allowed in uniform in the dugout but are not active: RHP Ben Sheets OF Gabe Kapler 3B Russell Branyan RHP David Riske INF/OF Joe Dillon C Vinny Rottino
  23. Anything but "Young Fun" by Pan Am.
  24. All the merchandise and ticket sales that signing CC would mean very little if anything in the grand scheme of things. The only reason Mark signs him is if he believes having CC long term will lead to at least one and ideally more World Series championships. Enough success that they make a few extra bucks from merchandise and tickets, but more that the value of the franchise increases so dramatically as a world champion that he can get that money he gave to CC back when he sells the team down the road. And since winning a WS is never anything close to a sure thing, the decision to let CC go is pretty easy from a business standpoint.
