  1. Hall has been playing gold glove caliber third base. We need to leave him there and find a competent 4th outfielder.
  2. Hall has been playing a gold glove caliber third base. We should just leave him there and find a competent 4th outfielder.
  3. When it rains it pours. This is what we get for putting Hall in the outfield.
  4. No tirade is going to make pitchers like Foolio and McClung throw strikes.
  5. They are corporate tickets that I requested months in advance. I always ask for the tickets for the Brewers series and yes the tickets are expensive.
  6. Im very concerned but anyone who reads my postings knows Im jaded. Its very frustrating watching this team play so far this year. I expected the pitching staff to struggle but the offense has been pitiful. Hopefully things get better soon or we will be buried before May begins and that would be very sad.
  7. I know Riveras minor league numbers say he wont be a good offensive player but everytime I watch him he seems to get hits or at least hit the ball hard most of the time. Kendall is basically an automatic out at this point. He cant even get the ball out of the infield most of the time. Its time that Rivera starts to play a lot more because Kendall just seems completely incapable of doing anything with the bat. I would be shocked if Kendall hits above .230 this year.
  8. I admit I had to bite my tongue a bit when Melvin called Suppan a battler. I thought that comment was right out of the Yost playbook but I guess I cant expect him to tell me how he really feels about Soup. Whoever designed this stadium did a terrible job. The sightlines are terrible for a new park. Unless you are sitting in the first few rows near the left field corner you flat out cannot see balls hit anywhere near the foul poll. Ive been to the phillies stadium and the differences are night and day as to the quality of the stadiums. I had heard many mets fans complaining about the stadium sightlines on the radio but I just chalked it up to new yorkers never being satisfied. After seeing firsthand I completely agree with the assessment that they did a terrible job designing the place.
  9. I had a very interesting night to say the least at citi field this evening. I arrived at the game around 10 minutes or so before the game started and guess who was sitting right in front of me; none other than Doug Melvin and Gord Ash. I couldnt have been more thrilled and figured I should take a shot and see if I could ask them a few questions. First of all let me say that Doug and Gord couldn't have been nicer to me. I introduced myself to both of them and told them how I was a lifelong Brewer fan from Brooklyn, NY. They both laughed and asked me how did I become a Brewers fan living in NY. After briefly giving them a synopsis of how I became a fan I asked if it would be possible to ask them a few questions between innings. They both said that would be fine and I promised not to be too annoying. Here is a quick recap of what we discussed. I asked about Riske and Ash mentioned that he had been sore for awhile but that the training staff thought it was just scar tissue breaking up after the surgery. Unfortunately Riske has been in pain for a few days now and is going to see a dr in California to see if there is any structural damage. They hope he can come back soon but Ash didnt sound very optimistic. I asked about Braun and both men said he is healthy and that his timing is just a little off right now. I also asked about Suppan and Melvin told me that Soup is a battler and a great veteran presence on the staff. He told me that the team signed him because of his stability and his ability to give the team 200 innings or so each year. Melvin sounded as if Suppan is nowhere near being replaced in the rotation. I asked about the lack of rotation depth and Doug specifically mentioned that McClung is a capable starter and that they acquired Wright and Green as additional depth because its unrealistic to expect the team to only need 5 starters for the entire season. He also mentioned that the team has lots of good arms but that most of them are a few years away. I asked about JJ Hardy and the possibility of signing him long term and Doug was extremely complimentary of Hardy calling him a great player and one of his favorites. He didn't say anything about signing him long term or not but said that JJ is a great Brewer and the team would love to keep him. Unfortunately he did also mention that in our market we can't keep everyone that we want and have to always have young cheap players ready for when we lose guys like Ben Sheets. I actually had a nice conversation with Ash about hockey at one point and I must say he is very knowledgeable about the sport. All in all both Doug Melvin and Gord Ash were fantastic with me and I thanked them over and over for being so nice. Unfortunately we lost a tough game tonight but Doug and Gord both made it a very memorable night for me. P.S. Doug did say "and that" at least 5 times
  10. Has Kendall hit any balls out of the infield so far this season. At this point he looks like an automatic out. At least Rivera gives us a chance offensively and is at least decent defensively. Rivera needs to play more than Kendall at this point unless something changes soon.
  11. Unless we are willing to give Defilice a shot I dont see any better alternatives and that is flat out pitiful. As hard as it is to watch Suppan throw BP much of the time it is just as difficult if not more so to watch McClung struggle to throw the ball anywhere near the plate. At least Suppan has the potential to give us innings since he doesnt walk a ton; McClung on the other hand will never be able to consistently give us more than 5 innings per start. Hopefully some of our minor league pitchers start developing in the next year or two so we dont have to overspend on mediocre veterans like Suppan again.
  12. This is beyond troublesome at this point. Im starting to get the feeling that this will be a lingering problem for Ryan all year. If that turns out to be the case its going to be a long season.
  13. This is one of the biggest problems with having Suppan; besides his salary being a complete albatross he is going to be in the rotation over more deserving pitchers. Suppan is also slated to start opening day which makes no sense to me whatsoever.
  14. If McClung has a bad spring I could see Defilice getting a shot at the rotation.
  15. If you think things are bad now just wait and see where we are in the next few years. If you think baseball wont be terribly affected by this economic situation you are very very wrong. The economy is in terrible shape and will only be getting worse over the next few years. At some point even the yankees and red sox will be affected and have to lower payroll.
  16. I feel bad for these baseball players but it is utter stupidity to have all your money with one investment firm.
  17. Didnt Lamb clear waivers before the Brewers signed him last year meaning that the Twins were on the hook for his contract regardless of what the Brewers do? I think Lamb is kind of double dipping at this point, collecting from the Twins contract as well as what the Brewers signed him for this offseason.
  18. Ive been impressed with Dillard over the small sample that I have seen. I just hope we keep the best guys not the guys with the most "veteran grittiness" for our bullpen. I think Dillard has a chance to be one of those guys and hope he doesnt get the short end of the stick because he has an option remaining.
  19. Suppan possibly starting the opener? That is ridiculous if its true. What other team would start its worst starting pitcher on opening day?
  20. Why should we sacrifice a game against SF who has no offense. Gallardo may not be quite as good as Lincecum but he has a chance to be that caliber and our offense is way better than SF.
  21. This makes no sense. Just start your guys in the order of quality. That means Yo starts game one and Suppan is the 5th starter. Saying that Gallardo would be under too much pressure as the number one guy is nonsense. I remember starting Suppan in the deciding playoff game instead of Gallardo and how did that work out.
  22. Thats a very good point. I cant wait till I can get the games in HD but I cant complain too much about it since I never thought I would see the day where I can see most of the Brewers games in NY.
  23. I actually order both packages just so I can see the weekday afternoon games at work. I absolutely love the Extra Innings package and would not live without it. I also like the mlb.tv version but it does have a lot of techinical issues such as the picture freezing.
  24. MLB Exta Innings is the greatest thing to happen to TV ever. I would not be able to survive without it.
