  1. It wouldn't be like Ned to give the playing time to those deserving. On top of that, Kapler is sure to come back down to Earth this year. His career numbers are proof of that. Edit: and for the record, I didn't start the complaining, but I can complain about the lineup all I want. Its why I love Freedom and being an American. Telling me I can't complain about the lineup sounds like you are telling me you don't like Freedom or America.
  2. I went to visit the MIB and got the flashy thingy treatment. I'm not exactly sure what happened this last week, but I see the Brewers are tied for the Wild Card. Let's build on that.
  3. At least I did not go to any of the last 4 games.
  4. Fairly safe to say now... BALLGAME The best roadtrip in franchise history followed by the worst homestand in franchise history. Can't say I'm surprised, its vintage Milwaukee Brewers.
  5. I believe it's real. Just not in baseball. Now football and basketball are a much different story. How are they different stories? Football is more similar to baseball than it is to basketball as far as the flow of the game.
  6. There isn't much difference between a 7-2 game and a 7-3 game. I'm by no means saying it was a good move. It wasn't. If anything it shows that even a blatantly wrong move by the manager can have little to no impact on the outcome of the game. This argument only works if you don't believe in the intangible aspect of sports called momentum, which obviously you don't. I have played organized sports, and tend to believe its very real. As will the majority of people you ask.
  7. Not to mention 100% of the momentum completely swinging back to the Cubs. The only thing we can say for sure is that it would have taken a 2-1 Cubs lead and made the game 2-2. There also would have been a runner on third with one out. Even if the Cubs go on to win 7-3, it doesnt change the fact that Ned Yost put on a hit and run with the catcher on first and the pitcher batting. Whether it costs the Brewers the division is moot. He actually gave the sign, and that is the relevant argument.
  8. When Kendall was thrown out on a botched hit and run with the pitcher batting, I didn't even have to watch anymore. That was my turning point of the game. Thank you Ned Yost, your idiocy knows no bounds.
  9. I've said it before and I will say it again... this team will never win a pennant with Ned Yost as their manager. They will get hot at times, but when something big is on the line his team will always play like it has the last three games. Putridly. Like father like son is to family as like manager like team is to baseball. Ned Yost is an idiot, so shall the team play like an idiot.
  10. Yost said during pregame that Durham's start yesterday had nothing to do with Weeks game on Monday. He was going to go with his "lefty" lineup regardless. I would expect to see Weeks in the lineup again today.
  11. At least my Brewer Fever has subsided. I was wondering when that was going to happen.
  12. Here's to a nice, big Z meltdown in the 4th inning. *drinks some Miller Chill*
  13. The Angels have to be getting close to being the clear cut favorites to win the Series this year.
  14. In my years of watching baseball, I found that what a player has done 2 years ago is less relevant than what a player has done the current year. Especially when August rolls around.
  15. A good way to avoid confrontation with any fan is to wear neutral clothing. If you don't want to get into the spirit tonight, wear a plain shirt.
  16. The problem, at least in this thread, is that you haven't shown anything to support your opinion. It is confusing where you are getting your opinion that Durham should start over Weeks from. Outlandish. I gave plenty of reasons to support my opinion. To the contrary, I don't see any shown to support the opinion that Weeks should be starting other than he is younger and will outperform Durham the rest of the year. Complete speculation vs. facts of current year production? Yeah, I can see how I wouldn't want to claim victory on this subject.
  17. I am on the same page with TH on this blog. And I have been on this page all year. Rickie needs to be moved to another team or off the roster. He makes more of a negative impact than he does positive. Unless of course we all think he will be turning the corner soon and magically become the player we all want him to be. That approach would have been fine for me in 2003,4,5. Its not a good approach this year, a year they are going for it. Trying to predict if Weeks is going to be better the rest of the year is a high risk, moderate reward proposition. And with many other positions shored up for this run, there is no room for a high risk project in the infield. Play the proven vets, and put the Weeks project on hold.
  18. Seemed to be plenty of BoD in the stands last night after Rickie K'ed following his botched double play. I must admit, I would have been tempted to turn into a dbag in that circumstance had I been in attendance. I sure in hell wouldn't start clapping and yell "go get'm next time Rickie." That euphemism styled approach is good for little leaguers, but I don't see why these multi-million dollar grown men need their feelings protected the way some would like it. Its part of the job description. Don't like it, get a new job. I have booed after outcomes many times, but I will qualify myself as to say I have never booed in anticipation of poor play.
  19. At least Suppan isn't pitching this series. I like the Parra vs. Dempster matchup. A split is still very attainable, but a win tonight is paramount to those efforts.
  20. He never indicated it hurt. If it was hurting and he didn't say anything about it, my comments about his mental state are still valid. Turnbow pretty much went Ankiel the day after he came back from the All Star game in 2006.
  21. Oh, they knew. There comments about bus rides and the way they imitated him made it very clear they knew. Then they were just mean people. Very unfortunate these people go out in public.
  22. Some people can't control their emotions, and when anger is introduced into their intoxicated brain bad things happen. This is a societal issue more so than a sports fan issue, but is spills into sports because its a form of spectator entertainment that involves drinking. At least we haven't yet evolved to all out rioting like they do at football games in Europe. As for this series, I think it brings out the individuals that love confrontation. They know they can find it at this game if they are either a Cubs or Brewers fan. Unfortunately for this dad, the group of confrontational (i assume buzzed, but they don't have to be) people in his section did not find their counterparts. So they had to create one and ended up selecting the closest Cubs jersey I imagine. I doubt they even knew he was a challenged individual. If I were the dad, I would have sought help from an usher or police officer.
  23. When I went to Shea last year (with 3 friends, i'm not crazy enough to go alone), the first thing we heard off the subway was "(expletive deleted) the Brewers." Good thing I had this experience a year before my son was born, as now I can get a grasp on reality and plan his MLB games a bit better than this dad did his. It doesn't excuse the behavior of these idiot kids, but we all have to live in reality. And the reality is that there are a ton of idiot kids at events like this. Its not just Milwaukee, its everywhere.
