  1. I wasn't sure if you meant you have no clue what they're doing or if you think they don't have a clue what they're doing. Then I realized both are probably right.
  2. Right now the central is the only division in the NL that has three teams .500 or above.
  3. I just noticed Drew Rasmussen was put on the 60 day DL due to a flexor strain. If he needs surgery it'd be his third. IIRC the Brewers decided to convert to to a relief role because he had two already. When I heard the Rays put him in the rotation I thought that might come back to haunt them. I guess it is. Pity, dude is a stud.
  4. I think a player who plays through injuries like Winker has requires time to get over the phantom effect. It's not as easy to get over it as simply once the pain is gone everything automatically goes back to normal. For some the mechanical adjustments made to get through it gets imprinted and it takes time to readjust. For others it takes time to get used to not feeling pain. All in all, give it another month and lets see where he's at.
  5. AT some point it may make sense but I don't think we're there yet. Winker has a long enough track record to believe he can turn things around. I know he wasn't good last year either but injuries take their toll even after the pain is gone. Sometimes there's a phantom effect that takes some time to overcome.
  6. I'm not so sure going back to part time work is the best route forward. Let him stay in AAA all year and maybe give him the everyday DH spot next season. We don't have to use a 40 man roster spot now, we don't use any service times and we can make sure he can keep his strikeout rate at an acceptable level.
  7. Dude, just let us drink from the tears of our enemy.
  8. They signed a average at best catcher on defense and seemed to be caught off guard that he was average at best defensively. It's got to be hard to adjust from one of the all time great (yes it hurts to say that, but it's true) overall catchers but how they're (over?) reacting this early is interesting to say the least.
  9. When people use CE and BCE instead of BC and AD. It doesn't change anything. It's the same dates and based off the same thing.
  10. Is two rookies struggling in their first month in the majors more shocking? I'd say a DH OPSing only about ten point highers than two elite defenders is a bigger concern now. I also think there's a replacement that is more likely to do better than Winker's overall production than Turang at the moment. Huira isn't the answer but he hit better than Winker last season and appears likely at this moment to be better now. I'm not advocating that mind you. I think we let things go for May and reassess then. I'm just saying if a move is to be made now to win now Huira is a better bet than someone like Toro.
  11. You can't win with veterans OPSing in the 600's. If Yelich and Winker would be OPSing in even the low 700's two rookies struggling in their first month in the majors wouldn't be a problem given their defense.
  12. How is he supposed to learn to hit big league pitching in AAA? If the time comes where there's not enough playing time for him because Urias is back and there's no place to play him fine. But to do it now when there's no clear cut better alternative seems to be missing a chance to let him learn.
  13. My brother used cologuard as prescribed by his doctor. It came back in December of 2021 as problematic and had to get a colonoscopy where they discovered he had terminal colon cancer. He passed away last March. He had a colonoscopy at 50 and was told cologuard was a safe alternative. He was 55 when he passed away. I don't know if the doctor prescribed because he found troubling signs at 50 and thought it was best to check with cologuard annually as opposed to having a colonoscopy in a few years, if it was in combination with the three year plan or he didn't find any problems and thought cologuard was enough. Another brother, who is his natural born sibling lives with me. Our doctor recommended every three years because he found some worrisome polyps but didn't mention cologuard. Now that I read your doctor didn't really know much about it I'm going to ask. If he doesn't know much about it and thinks it's a good idea you may have helped save another's life just by a random comment.
  14. My argument was Yelich signing that deal indicated he liked it here. It is possible a league MVP, in his prime decided to sign a long term extension at what would be below market price if he remained anything close to his norm to a team he didn't like just for security. It's also possible Big Foot exists. I've heard that too. Seems odd no other players suffered similar declines or that Yelich was the only one doing it.
  15. I tend to think the consensus opinion at the time is more accurate of what he could have got at that time. There were plenty of reasons to not have liked the deal at the time. The length and annual cost for a player entering his 30's, the deferred money and the prospect lost that trading him at his peak are all valid reasons to not have liked the deal back then. None of those reasons detract from the fact he signed a team friendly deal at that time. Personally I wasn't enamored with it. I'm not a fan of signing anyone to those types of deals. But I did recognize it was a value at the time. Even though I didn't think he'd be worth the cost later in the deal I thought he'd be worth more than he was early in the deal. As far as him liking being here I guess I'm just taking his word for it combined with his actions. Like for instance signing a below market deal. It seems far more credible than him thinking he was about to implode.
  16. As I've said he has to agree and I doubt he will. Let's for a moment assume he will. How does trading for an euqally bad contract help what so ever? Why would he have thought that?
  17. He has a full no trade clause. He agreed to a team friendly deal because he liked it here. What makes anyone think would he agree to leave?
  18. I passed a loaded dump truck that was using the cover they all have but never use.
  19. Small comfort but if we're going to have a rash if injuries it's best at the beginning of the season. If it's too much to overcome we can be sellers in July. If we manage to stay in it we'll have some fresh impact players late in the season.
  20. Speed is his calling card so there is that.
  21. How are they going to get anyone to go to minor league games when they're a major league team playing down the street?
  22. The only way he'd make any sense for us if the team felt is stuff might play up in the bullpen and they get him for league minimum. We don't have a lot of lefties so it could be a possible cheap alternative. I'm not in favor of it because I agree team chemistry is too good right now to mess with and the bullpen is doing quite well. I'm just saying it's the only way I could see picking him up would make sense from the team's perspective.
  23. I'd move Anderson to the outfield and go with Brosseau at third for now. Might as well ride the hot bat while it lasts. I think they'd be better off with a bench player with good defense given the way Anderson and Brosseau have hit so far.
  24. Long leash for a roster spot but not necessarily for the setup role. I think he and Strzelecki might flip roles sooner than later but they aren't going to replace Bush with a AAA guy any time soon.
  25. I'm not a s confident as you are about Cousins. Baseball is littered with guys who go from obscurity to great season then back to obscurity again. I hope I'm wrong because I root for guys like him but I hope we don't have to rely on him returning to form for the team to succeed. If he continues to lead the team in saves the way he's doing it now this will be a tremendous season indeed.
